View Full Details of Swallownest Care HomeOn the whole, the care home is good, the staff are great, they work hard. Regarding the activities, they are poor, at first, it was very good, I can understand the person who ran them has been off and her deputy has left, there hasn't been anybody to replace her. It didn't help matters when the lift wasn't working for 12 weeks just before Christmas. Everything was cancelled.
Found the staff friendly, the home spotlessly clean, always going that extra bit to help, always greated with a smile and a quick update on my mum, make time to make you feel welcome even though they always busy, not just the caring staff every one of them.
We moved my mum into Swallownest last week and staff and management have been wonderful in helping to facilitate the move. Although Mum has taken a bit of time to deal with the move, staff have been excellent in reassuring her and helping her settle.
My mum was a resident for five and a half years. In all that time I never had any occasion to be anything but satisfied with the care she received. Lots of activities to which we were invited and enjoyed. The home has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. In mum's final days, she was cared for with dignity, love and respect as were we. It felt like everyone was part of the family not just staff doing a job. Can't praise them enough and would highly recommend.
A lovely care home. All staff were helpful and supportive. I couldn’t fault anything with the care given to my 102-year-old mother-in-law. Would definitely recommend this care home to anyone currently searching for a place for their relative.
Mum has been a resident here for over four years. I have felt very happy with her care. There is almost a family atmosphere here. The staff do their best to include everyone, even in the smallest of ways. In a recent room change (due to renovation), great attention was paid to her being happy, bed facing the window, colours of the decor for which I was pleased.
Mum has only been at Swallownest Care Home for a few weeks and is already settling into her new place of living. I can't thank the staff enough for their care and compassion for Mum particularly as she is unwell at the moment but is improving each day. The care she is receiving is excellent and the staff are so kind and caring. Myself and sister know Mum is in the best place as she needs 24 hours now.
The well-being staff helped to organise a 100th birthday party for my granddad. We were given the use of a room to enable us to bring in a fish and chip takeaway for 10 of us. The room was decorated for us with balloons and a large banner, we were allowed to borrow plates and cutlery and were given napkins and tumblers. One of the staff even came in on her day off to finish decorating the room. The kitchen staff made a lovely 100th birthday cake and other staff popped into our celebrations to check everything was going well. All provided at no cost to us. It helped to make a special day for my granddad. Thank you.
My mum has been made very welcome and settled in with the support from all the staff. She calls it a five-star hotel. The only issue is despite being labelled, some items have gone missing.
After Mum's stroke, both her and Dad were having a miserable time at home not getting out and now they have come to live at Swallownest their lives have improved no end. They have amazing staff who treat them like family. The food is lovely, they always have lots to tell us about what meals they have had and what activities they have been doing. I can't thank the staff here enough for giving them the quality of life they deserve and for giving us peace of mind knowing they are safe and well cared for.
My parents have loved being here. Putting on weight with the lovely food, both thriving.
Swallownest Care Home was recommended strongly to us (me and my son) and we are so pleased to have my husband being cared for here. The staff have been so caring and kind putting our concerns at ease. My husband would be at peace knowing he has been cared for in this way. We are extremely grateful that in his final days he will be cared for with dignity.
My husband really enjoyed his stay at Swallownest Care Home. He was well cared for and got on well with all staff.
Dad has been in Swallownest for six months now. He and the family are extremely happy. The level of care is fantastic, and the manager runs the home to a very, very high level. Having had other family members in care homes (all with bad experiences) in recent years, Swallownest is like a breath of fresh air.
Making a decision to place a loved one in a care home is a difficult one for all involved. We couldn't have been more supported by the manager at this carehome. She was understanding and accommodating. She put our minds at rest and gave us much confidence that our mother would be well supported and taken care of - standout points to note are: - a sense of calm - residents looked clean and tidy - dining and lounge areas are inviting - staff we met were helpful and kind After looking at other care homes, we were happy to have found Swallonest.
My mum is a permanent resident in this lovely care home; she has settled in well and made friends with the other residents and the fantastic staff that work here. It is reassuring to know that she has round-the-clock care. The staff help her every morning to dress, and they take her down for dinner every day. The residents can take part in various social activities throughout the week, ranging from, occasionally, live entertainment and sometimes a quiz, and last week, she was out in their patio area, helping the care home plant some garden plants ready for today's open day. Her room is set up to meet her own personal needs. All the care staff in this care home are so friendly and caring. It wouldn't be fair not to mention the lovely staff who clean her room and the maintenance man who helped my mum make her room her own. For us, as a family, I love spending the day here at the home with my mum when I can, and we are made to feel welcome too.
Excellent rearranging of the care home. Much more appropriate for those who are unable to mix. So peaceful! Fantastic result for residents, staff and visitors. Also better for those in the main building who are much more active and have better access to the facilities available.
My brother has been a resident since early December. After a spell in the hospital, he was no longer able to return to his house to cope alone and having two family members in care homes previously; I can honestly say that Swallownest is the nicest, friendliest home I've been in. It really does feel like home-from-home; very welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. I can safely say that you won't regret choosing Swallownest Care Home for your loved one.
Our elderly mother went for respite care after a fall and a spell in hospital for a broken hip. She has been well looked after at Swallownest and appears to be recovering well. We, as a family, are hopeful that Mum will be able to stay long-term because we are very satisfied that she is safe and well cared for in a comfortable environment.
Mum was unable to cope at home and reluctantly moved into Swallownest Care Home. It took a couple of weeks for her to settle in, but the staff became her friends. As her needs changed, so did the care she received until she passed away. Although not an ideal situation, Swallownest Care Home made the most of the situation, offering friendship and care. Too many lovely staff to mention!
