Resident admitted at short notice. No pre-admission assessment. Diagnosis of quadriplegia not noticed. Patient hoisted on straps. Staff generally friendly and helpful but much misunderstanding and misinformation. Two hourly turns from spinal unit request changed by management to four hourly - and longer. Resident now has large bed sore on lower spine, now being dressed 3 times daily. High-dose antibiotics causing mouth ulcers. Is on morphine patches. Two hourly turns now being administered but physio to prevent spasticity not recommended. Resident now very frail, almost back in foetal position, under palliative care, very depressed. Refusing food and drink. Deteriorating rapidly.
Staff and manager are so helpful and very good to speak with. All care given to my mum has been to a very high standard.
Visited my aunt in her own private room. Room clean and tidy. Her lunch arrived at 12:15pm - selection of sandwiches, tomato soup and piece of cake - quality of food looked good. Staff were attentive and friendly. Overall assessment of care was very good.
Family member been a resident over 2 years now. We believe as a family that our loved one is adequately cared for. Carers are more like friends. If we have a problem we know we can approach management nurses and carers. We are happy for our relative to remain here.
I think this care home is absolutely fantastic! All staff are helpful and always make you feel welcome and comfy. It is very clean and tidy, cannot fault it at all. I would highly recommend this care home.
I visit my dad here every day he always looks clean and looked after.
My wife has been a resident at Abbey Grange since August 2023. The carers are fantastic, kind, caring and professional. The nursing staff were also brilliant, I can't praise them enough. The domestics also come for a lot of praise, hard-working, pleasant and very helpful. Finally, I find the management to be friendly, kind and very supportive. They have made a difficult time a little more bearable.
I feel my mum is cared for well and if I have had concerns in the past they have been dealt with in the right way.
Staff are very friendly and reliable. Always a warm welcome from everybody in all departments. Would recommend the home to anybody who is looking for their relatives. Husband well looked after and his needs met. Food and choice is excellent. Well informed on his health and behaviour.
My husband was admitted to Abbey Grange from the hospital after a fall for a 6/8 week assessment. I was in a very fragile state of mind as we had been married 60 years and the thought of us being separated was unthinkable. However, thanks to the support of the wonderful management and staff I am coming to terms with the situation. He has settled very well and loves the staff. I can visit whenever I want to and everyone is so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend Abbey Grange to anyone faced with the hard decision to put their loved one into care.
Myself and my family were apprehensive when my husband left hospital in September. He was not well enough to return home to us and was directed to Abbey Grange. We were loaded with guilt and anxiety about this. We were completely wrong. During his time on Mappin Wing we found the staff warm-hearted, considerate and so caring. We visited often and almost regarded them all as family. When he died they continued to care for us. Cups of tea and sandwiches appeared by magic, and hugs galore. The caring staff were ace and the medical staff were respectful and totally professional. Nothing was too much trouble even if it seemed silly. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
After being invited to a cheese and wine afternoon at the care home, all the staff went above and beyond to make us all feel very welcome. I, myself, met some other residents' families that are in the same situation as us, and all made it a little bit easier with what we are all going through. Putting our loved ones into a care home was the best thing for them and us, and all the staff are always so friendly and on hand if we need to chat. Keep up the great work.
No option for no stars. If you want your loved ones to be safe, clean and looked after, please avoid this care home. if you question your loved one's progress expect everyone to say what you want them to say, and not the truth. Loved ones are left to fend for themselves. If you want unwitnessed fall added to the list, this is the place. Food is not encouraged before it's taken away. Drinks are limited, as in the heatwave no drinks were available for 3 days! The very professional response from the manager was 'they have tea or milk'. Never in a million years would I ever make the same mistake in placing my mum in this incompetent care home, Abbey Grange Nursing Home. This is a review I will stand by. The one thing I forgot to say was, don't listen to reviews as most of them were asked to be put on by management and staff members! Who are all related and friends of Abbey Grange Nursing Home.
Really welcoming care home, from day one of my mother-in-law moving in the staff and manager have been amazing. All staff are caring towards residents and also their families. My mother-in-law enjoys sitting and socialising with other residents in the lounge and she really enjoys the food.
Very informative and helpful, open for suggestions which is good in all aspects. The staff are lovely and to be commended, always having time for people.
It is a lovely care home, my family member is happy and content. All her needs are met by lovely friendly staff. Lots of activities to keep the residents entertained. The food is great and my family member loves fish and chip Fridays.
Brilliant staff and always putting something on to keep residents busy also trips out, I follow their social media page and which is also kept up to date with pictures of the residents' activities on almost a weekly basis so even family members of mine who don’t go to see my mom can see what she is up too regarding trips out and events that the home puts on
Visited my husband's elderly cousin today and had a lovely couple of hours with her along with a few other members of family. We were very comfortable in the quiet room and all the staff were very welcoming, making us all coffee. Our cousin seems very happy in the home and is very well looked after.
We were greeted by friendly staff, it was my first visit but the rest of my family were well known to the staff. They found a quiet room for us all to be together with our cousin. We had a nice, relaxed visit.
