View Full Details of Brandon HouseI was looking for respite for my mum. The home isn't huge, but I actually liked that. Upon visiting to look around, it had a warm friendly atmosphere and the residents appeared to be happy. I noticed that none of the residents seemed to be left alone, unless in their rooms. Attention to detail from the manager with regards to mum's needs was brilliant and any concerns I had were put to rest. The decor is a little dated, and not like the super modern, newer homes we've used in the past. However, it was clean and the room mum was allocated, had a lovely view of the garden. All the staff were lovely and I was very happy and will be booking again in the future.
Your opening photo of the home shows a line of conifers running down the side of the drive which was removed four years ago to comply with a CQC request at the preceding review. The reason that the CQC asked for this was to improve the view from the resident's windows. The home has just constructed a solid timber fence to the same line and more as the conifer hedge and the same height as the conifer hedge. The visual impact for visitors and residents who live in rooms overlooking this fence is obvious. massively worse than when the hedge was there. The bin store area of the rear car park used to be tidy, however, there are additional bins and a skip outside the bin enclosure. The visual impact for residents whose rooms overlook this area is obvious. Poor.
I enjoy visiting Brandon House because the atmosphere is always cheerful and positive. The staff are wonderful.
Staff are very hard working and very caring but clearly not enough of them and feel as though my mum did not get the Dementia support which is claimed for by the home on the website and feel very let down by communication, security, medication management. As a nursing home, I would recommend it but for someone with needs support there needs to be some scrutiny of what the home is claiming against reality and I only hope my report to the Care Quality Commission enforces some changes. Communication is a real letdown. I would not recommend Brandon.
My mum loves the singing and is really happy. Singing all the old songs. The staff make it as happy and look happy too. That makes a difference. I feel happy too. The staff have made me feel welcome too.
Very swift response to asking to view the home and ask for a place for Mum. Lovely feel to the home and all questions answered around the previous quality mark. Nothing was too much for the staff, Mum was encouraged to take part and was included in activities. Staff were lovely with the residents. Mum's care was fabulous and she was cared for right up until her passing. Only 5 weeks, but it was the right place.
All the staff are very helpful. They all take good care of my uncle. My uncle feels very settled and comfortable. Some of the staff do go above and beyond. A special mention must go to one staff member in particular. She has been very supportive.
I would recommend Brandon House to all.
My mum and family love it here. The staff are fab and go above and beyond for us.
My husband was placed in the home during covid, after a spell in hospital. I had not seen him - no visiting. First visit to Brandon - I felt so relieved. Lovely home - happy, cheerful and lovely staff. My husband is clean, looks well cared for and relaxed. How wonderful for me! Thank you!
My Mum went into Brandon house with dementia and nursing care needs in September 2022. I can honestly say this home has been great. The staff are really sensitive, kind and caring, they are always around and they always know where my Mum is. The home is quiet and peaceful and has good facilities. The food is nice, homecooked on-site, and the tea and coffee are endless! The place is small which means you get to know people and staff well. Mum has settled in well and I am sure is being well looked after when I'm not there. I would thoroughly recommend it.
Mum seems happy and comfortable at Brandon House and it is a weight off our minds, knowing she is well looked after.
It is a happy friendly environment in a pleasant setting. The staff are caring and thoughtful, providing activities which are interesting for residents. The meals are tasty and varied. Overall, a care home, which I would be happy to recommend.
My mum was admitted at Brandon House, a few months ago. I couldn't ask for a better place. She's happy, she feels safe and she has put so much weight on since she's here. The staff are so caring and the nurses are highly skilled and always available when needed. The food is excellent and there are many choices. Brandon House is definitely going well!
My husband has been a resident at this lovely nursing home for the past six years. I cannot express how happy I am with my husband's care. The manager and her staff are so loving and nothing is ever too much trouble. They recently decorated the home and bought new furniture. The activities coordinator arranges daily activities for everyone. The food is delicious. They deserve the five stars.
Had to remove my mother after abuse was discovered. It was confirmed by an agency care worker as she witnessed the abuse. Police and adult social care were alerted for us to remove my mother the same day it was discovered.
My mum has been at the care home for some time now, I can honestly say the care home staff do their very best. They are always friendly. I think they have been short on staff for a while now but I have never heard any of them complain they always have a smile on their faces, it's a job I couldn't do myself, we are very grateful. The home is very strict when it comes to having to be booked in and having to have PPE, always check you have had a covid test before you are allowed in.
Amazing home, amazing staff and amazing management! Staff are always around! The home requires improvement but they are definitely in the right direction! The manager is always around checking on residents, staff and relatives. She’s always willing to listen! It is nice to see Brandon House with all these new staff and residents. Activities are wonderful and residents really enjoy them.
My dad lives with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia and after periods of time in hospital it became apparent he could no longer be looked after at home due to severe deterioration. We found accepting moving him into full-time residential care very hard but he has settled well and I can honestly say that every staff member I have encountered has shown nothing but amazing care and kindness to my dad and ourselves. Lewy can be a hard dementia to understand however I can see that all staff are well educated and trained in all kinds of dementia care and go above and beyond to meet and exceed his needs. This was evident in the quick response you gave to calling an ambulance when he has been recently admitted to the hospital.
Once again visited my sister today. The duvet cover was stained and her bed looked as if it hadn't been made. Pillowcases were stained too. I felt her arms and she was cold, so put a cardigan on her. My sister has lost an awful lot of weight, therefore, will feel the cold more. The room was cold too. This is basic care for someone as ill as my sister and I am disappointed, to say the least.
