View Full Details of Park Avenue Care HomeIt has exceeded our family's expectations. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with warmth and kindness by the attentive staff. The home itself is beautifully maintained, and the welcoming atmosphere immediately puts residents and visitors at ease. The level of care provided is outstanding. The staff members are genuinely compassionate, treating everyone with respect and dignity. They take the time to get to know each individual, which has made a world of difference for my grandad. The activities are great, there's always something enjoyable happening. The dining experience is equally impressive and delicious meals. The manager clearly takes pride in her work, continuously striving to improve and provide the best possible environment for residents. The peace of mind we have knowing our loved one was happy, safe, and well cared for is priceless. We are incredibly grateful to have found such a wonderful place and thank you for all the care you provide.
There are not enough words to compliment all the staff involved in my dad's recent care. From an initial visit, we were made very welcome and shown the rooms and facilities available. Communication was excellent and it was quite evident that Dad was going to receive the best care possible from a truly dedicated workforce. Although the property is of an age, it is well designed for the residents and was always clean and fresh and a hive of activity and well monitored. Dad was always clean and tidy and always in fresh clothes. Everybody was treated with dignity and respect and it was great to see interaction with the staff and residents and guest entertainers. Food was of a very high standard and a variable menu full of choices. Plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits on the go and fresh fruit juice every day. The most notable factor was how polite everyone was and this made residents and visitors feel like part of a much-loved family.
My mum was admitted to Park Avenue in March 2023 after a stay in hospital, she had many health issues and was not eating and drinking correctly nor keeping up with her personal cleanliness after going to Park Avenue, this all changed and my mum started to gain weight and was having regular showers. We saw a massive improvement in my mum because of all the time and effort that the staff showed her. The staff were very friendly, kind, caring and comforting towards my mum and myself and my sister. Unfortunately, my mum passed away at the beginning of September but we truly believe that the care that the staff gave her extended her life. We are truly grateful and thank all staff in all departments at Park Avenue.
All the staff make an effort to make visitors as well as patients comfortable. My mum has been looked after very well. There is always someone to make my mum smile and myself and family have commented on this. Thank you.
To the manager and all the staff at Park Avenue Care Home. Park Avenue was Mum's home for the last three years of her life and we want to thank you all for the care and compassion shown to our lovely mum and ourselves, especially in the last days of Mum's life. It meant so very much to us. Love and best wishes.
My mother-in-law was admitted to await assessment after hospital discharge. The whole experience was poor, she has dementia and had problems swallowing yet was left with hard, dried-up food which was cold as if leftovers. Her room was dark and dirty. She was on the top floor, unable to use a buzzer and there were lengthy periods where there was no staff on the floor as we looked for them, there were patients calling out in distress with no response from staff. On top of that, they lost her glasses and were unresponsive when we asked them to look for them. There was a lack of managerial oversight, the place seemed to be run by the admin who said all the right things but didn't have any substance or act on them. We were so glad to get her out of there as we could not sleep while she was in there as we were so concerned.
There is nothing good about this care home, the staff are pleasant but language is a barrier, other than that the place should be shut down. Very very poor facilities, everything is plugged into extension leads (health and safety out the window). No interaction with residents just left in dark miserable rooms, with a TV if it works. As for meals, you would not feed your children, (chicken nuggets and spaghetti hoops) nothing like fresh no fruit or veg, have to beg and question everything. Feel sorry for the residents who can't communicate and relatives who are unaware. Residents seem to be given everyone's leftover attire, Can't describe how poor this facility is, how people can leave good reports is unbelievable, how the CQC report has stated good have not checked the condition of the building and the poor quality of the food everything comes out of a tin, residents don't have a choice and food is just placed on lap if you are bed bound. Please take care if you are a resident/relative.
My husband was transferred from the hospital during Covid restrictions which had made the selection of a nursing home for him very traumatic as we were unable to view it before he moved I needn't have worried Park Avenue was a great choice. The staff were so caring and kind and looked after my husband who was on end of life care with compassion and made sure he was comfortable. I am eternally grateful to them all for making his last three weeks the best they could be. They also made sure we were ok and nothing was too much trouble.
The staff at the home are so lovely, nothing is too much trouble. They do seem to genuinely care, l could not fault any of them. They are so busy, yet will give you the time that is needed and made you feel at ease. They work so hard and l honestly do feel my dad got the care he needed and l am truly grateful for that.
Visit my wife as a dedicated carer almost daily. Although staff turnover has been high and Covid has disrupted the home and seen some deaths, staff have done their best to provide a high standard of care and are friendly and cooperative. Obtaining support and diagnosis from the linked health centre to patient issues has been disappointing. Safeguarding residents and Covid adherence to precautions and regulations has been followed. Gaining entry to the premises when the reception staff are not in attendance has been protracted and frustrating. During weekdays there is generally no problem.
My dad got discharged from St. James hospital in December 2021. He had been in hospital since September and this was the only home in our budget. The home is fantastic. staff are excellent and management team are very good.
My dad was cared for in Park Avenue from February 2018. We as a family can not fault the care my dad received at this home. He was always so happy and the staff were great and a great support to us as well. There was always staff around. Residents were never left in lounges alone. Working in care myself it was good to know that our dad had the best care. The staff were so supportive and it was lovely to see friendly faces when you visited. Staff would always talk to you and the nurses were fantastic by keeping us informed of GP visits. The new manager was approachable when I had to speak to her about something. Sadly my dad's health deteriorated and he passed away at Park Avenue in January 2019 but we are so glad he spent his last days at the home and we found him the right home to spend the last year of his life in.
My dear mother was cared for by Park Avenue Nursing Home for over 6 years. She had dementia and so went through a number of difficulties with her memory, speech, behaviour and later her mobility and swallowing. Finally, she passed away at the nursing home in November 2018. The care and patience of the staff is second to none and all mums needs were met however difficult. The staff are genuinely caring and liaise well with the families and local GPs. This includes the manager, nurses, carers, activities coordinator, kitchen and many more. They know each person personally and it feels like a family. Thank you so much for everything you did for her over the years.
My father spent the last few weeks of his life here and received care, patience and understanding from the whole team, 2 ladies in particular. We visited and stayed with Dad and were made very welcome, they couldn't do enough for us. I cannot thank the manager and her team enough.
My dad was at Park Avenue Care Home from 10-10-2013 until he passed away 30th May 2017. From day one his care was very good. When he first went there his blood sugars were very high and within days with correct food and care these were brought down and kept down unless he had an infection. My dad's needs were always met by the nursing team and care team and I was always informed of any health changes. If he needed a doctor, I was always informed and always told the outcome. I would like to say right from the management - nursing - care - cleaning teams I have always found them to be very pleasant and helpful at all times. Nothing is too much trouble for them and always asked how I was too. The manager's door was always open if I needed a chat. From the bottom of my heart, I can not thank them enough for how my dad was cared for in his latter years.
My auntie was in the care home for five months, she was cared for by excellent caring staff and contrary to the CQC report where the leadership requires improvement I found the Care Home manager at Park Avenue was excellent. She was excellent from the first visit, explaining the care home and ensured we had a full understanding of the services and had a member of staff show us round. I believe that overall the staff showed caring and cheerful care to it's residents and visitors alike, this can only be achieved by good leadership. We live sixty mile from the care home but were kept informed by the staff on the EMI unit if they detected any change or cause for concern in my aunties health. The only area I can see room for improvement is the EMI lounge area which is small and not particularly well laid out.
My wife has been resident at Park Avenue for nearly three years. She has Alzheimer's and requires one to one care. All the staff at the home treat her with considerable love and care, always greeting her as we walk about the home and gardens and always make me feel at home too when I visit (most days). When her room was recently flooded from an upstairs bathroom, the Manager quickly moved her to a spare room and got her room redecorated immediately, making improvements at the same time. So now my wife has a smart room with new pictures and wall art to cheer the place up. I feel very relaxed to know my wife is doing well cared for in a very difficult situation.
My husband was admitted after 2 months in hospital with vascular dementia and other multiple conditions. I had total confidence in the treatment given to ease the final stage of his life. I visited every day and helped him at meal times and saw all the care and kindness shown to him and myself. He was nursed in bed in a pleasant room which gave us peace and privacy. If he had been able there was an attractive dining room, lounge and gardens and various activities. The staff were friendly and helpful, treated him with dignity and always ready to explain any treatment.
Mum moved into Park Avenue in August 2014 since she required a Nursing home which specialises in EMI Care. At the outset the family were impressed with the understanding of Mum's needs by all those who work at the Home. Throughout Mum's stay she has been treated with the utmost of respect, care. patience and understanding. Every member of the Nursing and Care team takes the time to listen and respond appropriately to Mum. Her medical needs are acted upon and communication with the family is outstanding - directly to family members when we visit and by phone if we need to know any new developments. This so comforting as we have a lifetime of being involved in Mum's well-being and we still feel included in this. Despite working so hard in the care of the elderly residents, staff smile and remain patient. Park Avenue are clearly recruiting the right people for the work. Mum often tells us how nice her carers are to her. They demonstrate true understanding of Mum's personality and take the time to chat to her - a vital element in Mum's well-being. The family feel confident that Mum is in the best possible place at this time in her life. We are all pleased we chose Park Avenue for Mum.
