View Full Details of Emmanuel House Residential HomeMy husband has been living at the Emmanuel Care Home for eight months. He has been looked after by the kindest, calm, caring and compassionate staff. Moving a spouse into a care home is a very difficult and emotional decision to make. I have been supported and cared for too. I feel that as a couple we have become part of the loving Emmanuel family. The Emmanuel is a safe place, security is good, I am aware of regular fire drills. The use of PPE is strictly adhered to in the prevention of cross infection. There are regular activities and outings. It has been particularity lovely to see the interaction between my husband and other residents with the children who visit once a month from a local school.
My auntie has been a resident for a couple of years now. The staff always go above and beyond with all of her needs and she has always been very happy at Emmanuel. This gives you great comfort as a relative to know your loved ones are happy and so well cared for.
The activities organised by the staff are fantastic. The staff themselves are always positive, happy and enthusiastic. Lovely place to look after loved ones. Much better than previous homes we have encountered.
My dad has been in Emmanuel House since February this year. We had lost my mum a year before and after she'd gone, dad deteriorated gradually and his dementia became more apparent to a point where he struggled to function. My dad has never been sociable outside the family but the team at Emmanuel House have managed to make him feel comfortable and inclusive and he engages easily and enjoys their company. When I visit he always appears very presentable- clean, shaven and well-dressed. His room/en-suite is always clean when I visit. He praises the staff, care and food during our conversations. He is healthier now. I have noticed how the team spend time with him when he is on his 'down' days and raises a smile from him. I noticed the staff to be friendly, calm, caring, patient and professional. There are activities and trips out for the residents and it is really lovely to see photos of these on the social media page. I feel very comfortable in trusting Emmanuel House with my dad's care.
The team at Emmanuel have been a real eye-opener. My father has been in residential care since having a stroke 3 years ago, I was firmly of the view that care homes were all the same and he moved through a few different ones, with varying levels of care and success. The day he arrived at Emmanuel we were greeted by a professional team of people who really care, everyone in uniform with a complete understanding of their roles and responsibilities. He was immediately assessed and an action plan was put in place to begin improving his pre-existing conditions and overall care. This care home is literally what it says a home for your loved ones where every single employee genuinely cares. Management are very easy to deal with, bringing proactive solutions with no prompting and often when you haven't realised yourself that there may be an issue. The home is clean and secure and all staff are very attentive to ensuring doors are closed, and access is managed through a signing-in/out system.
The care at Emmanuel House is outstanding! My uncle has been a resident since leaving the acute hospital and their rehab settings. Both of these previous settings failed to get him walking and told us that he would probably never walk again. The attitude of staff at Emmanuel took a different approach, stating it would be likely that he could walk again! What a difference this has made! He is now walking and feeling much more positive. His outlook has changed from self-neglect to (almost) self-care! We are astounded. What a wonderful team! Today, we visited and stumbled upon a party organised by the team. I laughed, cried, sang and danced along with other residents and staff. It is the friendliest place with a team who make it a joy to live there! I have been a National Improvement Lead for twenty years in the NHS and I can honestly say I have not seen a more dedicated team in the country! Amazing. To all the team, thank you!
Our friend needed to go into respite care after she was not safe to return home. We visited the home to have a look around and see the facilities. The lady who showed us around was very helpful in answering our questions. Our friend is settled at Emmanuel House. She is well cared for by the lovely staff and it's really nice to see her get involved with the activities and have people around her. There is a nice atmosphere in the home and the love for the residents is clear to see. Thank you.
When I left Emmanuel House having visited Mum, I couldn't quite get my head around how good the staff are with their residents and how welcoming to us, the visitors, they are. They treat every resident as an individual and include as many as are able or wish to be involved in their many activities. I'm always impressed by how light-hearted the atmosphere is, with the staff in particular.
My aunt has been a resident at Emmanuel House Residential Home for 2 years and during this time she has received wonderful care from the staff. Latterly, she has been diagnosed with dementia and has had several stays in hospital. The staff have shown utter kindness to my aunt and myself. My aunt is well cared for, has excellent food and is clean and warm. Emmanuel House is well run by caring staff. The Home is clean and tidy and smells fresh. The care home staff do not get the praise they deserve. They do a wonderful, difficult and sometimes frustrating job (a job that many of us could not do) and also had to battle with Covid restrictions - a big "Thank You" from me.
My mam has been in Emmanuel House for eighteen months. I have always found the staff to be very professional, caring and friendly. Although my mam can be difficult at times, the staff are very patient and understanding of her needs and always involve us as a family in her care and the many activities and days out that are offered. Emmanuel has also adopted our family's pet tortoise, who is also very well cared for (spoilt). I would highly recommend Emmanuel to anyone considering a care home for a loved one. Emmanuel is a lovely, homely place and the staff are all highly trained and very knowledgeable in all aspects of care.
The staff at Emmanuel cannot be praised highly enough for their commitment to care for my mother over the past 18 months and to deal with the challenges that have faced them during this time. Communication with the home has been excellent and reassuring when not able to visit more regularly due to both COVID and geography; always willing to discuss the care arrangements for my mother and how these may be adjusted to meet any changes of need and widen the experiences available to her. It is clear from those discussions that the staff have established a very good relationship with her and that care arrangements are personalised and reflect that knowledge and understanding, nothing is too much trouble and they are always supportive and positive. The COVID pandemic presented extreme challenges to the staff and residents as well as to the families of those staff and residents: the staff deserve enormous thanks for the way they worked to meet those challenges.
Dad was in Emmanuel House Residential Home from May 2021 until his death in June 2022. During that time the staff were brilliant. They were always cheerful and extremely helpful. They had to deal with staff shortages due to covid and even lockdowns! Dad was made very comfortable and the staff were very kind.
My mother-in-law has been treated extremely well whilst in Emmanuel House's care. The staff are all wonderful and do everything they can to make her comfortable.
My father was in Emmanuel House from his discharge from hospital in July 2020 up to his death in March 2021. Because of the pandemic, I did not have as much access to visits as I would have liked, but the staff did their very best to accommodate our needs. My father suffered from dementia, and so found it difficult to make personal relationships with the staff, but it was clear during my visits that the staff appreciated his sense of humour and got to know him. The staff were also attentive to his needs and adapted his diet, brought in equipment to get him out of bed for short periods and let me know when he needed toiletries. I called my father pretty much every evening, and as he couldn’t answer the phone himself, it required a member of staff to go to his room with the phone, and it was never too much bother. I would especially like to mention the level of support that the staff gave to me personally during a very difficult period, always friendly, but also honest about the issues.
My husband has been resident in Emmanuel House for over 2-years. He has a long-term life-limiting condition resulting in complex care needs. The staff are responsive to his changing needs and manage these well. There is a good atmosphere in the home, which impressed me from the very beginning. Myself and other family members are always made welcome, and I feel we have built a good relationship. My husband is happy and well cared for. He says he likes the food, and they have taken the trouble to get to know his specific likes and dislikes. The staff are friendly and cheerful as well as caring and professional, nothing is ever too much trouble. I think very highly of the way they have met the challenges of the pandemic during the past year.
The staff have a ‘can do’ attitude, and try very hard to accommodate the family’s wishes. The staff are very caring and seem to know the personality traits/needs of each resident well. The manager is efficient and responds quickly to family requests. Staff working closely with Mum are always willing to update us on her health and well-being. Staff morale appears to be good. All staff seem to ‘muck in’ - whether they be carers, office, domestic or grounds staff. The staff ensure residents are proud of their appearance with regular visits by manicurists, hairdressers etc. A good variety of activities are offered to residents - especially involving creative skills. Covid rules/regulations are strictly followed and enforced. There is a strong sense of the care home being part of the community. The main front gardens are an asset to the home, but the patio area is difficult to navigate using wheelchairs due to uneven paving - more ground-level seating would be welcome.
My father has been a resident at Emmanuel House for a little over two years. During this time, the staff have done a fantastic job of looking after him and keeping him comfortable and engaged. He suffers from a degenerative and profoundly disabling condition, and I am always impressed by the level of care, attention and empathy he receives. This has been made all the more challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet the care staff and management continue to be helpful and cheerfully go the extra mile.
Dedicated staff who work very hard and nothing is too much for them. They care well for the patients and are empathetic to the needs of family and visitors. Everyone interacts with each other. Great chef, good cleaners, carers, district nurse involvement and doctors support. The taxi service to wheelchair patients is good. Wonderful end of life care and support.
Excellent facilities and care for my granny. The staff are friendly and demonstrate a high standard of professional care at all times. Granny is very happy here and has been here nearly 3 years and is 105!
The care my mother has received over the last year has been brilliant and I would like to thank every single member of staff who has taken care of her. The home has always been lovely and clean and the food has been of a high quality. It was lovely to see my mum had a smile when the staff talked to her. A huge thank you.
