View Full Details of Westerlands Care VillageI visit Mum regularly at Westerlands and always find the staff and management team most welcoming and helpful/friendly and more importantly excellent in their approach to and how they provide first-rate care to Mum. We, as a family, have nothing but praise for all at Westerlands. Mum, even though now bed-bound, is very comfortable and well looked after, thank you to you all.
My father has been there for 4 months and he was very ill when he arrived. The team at Westerlands have been outstanding with him, gradually building up his strength and treating him with the utmost respect. I cannot express how much I appreciate how well they're looking after him. He also loves the social activities and the other residents.
The family is happy with the care and attention my husband has received in Wesands Care Village. My husband is settled after a difficult start following a seizure and a period in the hospital. He has had periods when he has been homesick but the care given has overcome 90% of the emotional issues given that my husband has lived a fully independent life up to this year. In spite of various health issues, he has managed to retain a sense of humour this is a credit to the care home. He reads and watches TV and generally his interaction with carers and residents is very positive.
The carers at Westerlands Care Village are professionals who always go above and beyond to care for their residents, whom they treat as family. They carry out their duties with professionalism and kindness. It is clear that this job means more to them than a monthly paycheck. The residents have access to a varied selection of good quality food, with more than enough to go around. The managers and staff appear to work well with one another. You'll find teamwork on display every minute of the day. I always feel welcomed as a visitor and the staff manage to keep me updated on my husband's overall health, along with smaller details such as his diet and activity levels. How they manage to offer this same level of care to each resident and their families, is a mystery to me. I would highly recommend Westerlands to anyone looking for a good local care home for their loved ones.
Very happy with the care that my mother-in-law is receiving. The attitudes of her carers are very good.
I visit my wife on a weekly basis and on all my visits, the care that is shown to the residents is excellent. I am treated with respect and my health and care are asked about. I travel one hour to get to the home, the senior carer always asks if I want a drink. When asked, I can only speak highly of the care my wife is receiving. She is really looked after well at Brough Lodge.
The love and care received by the staff in Brough Lodge for my mother-in-law is great. After a visit yesterday in which we observed my mother in law's love for the staff and their care for her just makes us feel reassured she is safe and having her needs met.
Both hubby and I have been welcomed into the care home. I feel they want to find out the best care plan for hubby and make me part of it. I feel the staff want us both to be happy. If I have any worries or concerns, I find the staff very helpful. Plus, I have also needed help and support this first month and they have been there for me too. They greet me when I visit (almost daily) and call me by my name - like an old friend would do.
The staff and manager are all lovely, friendly and very efficient. They are very caring towards my Mum who has many health problems. Some have gone out of their way during the pandemic to ensure Mum can contact us via their ipads. There is good communication between staff, manager and family. It is like a second family. Mum settled in well.
My mum in law stayed at Westerlands for about 6 weeks following a hip operation after a fall. We've been really impressed with the kindness of the staff as well as their professionalism, patience and genuine concern. The home always feels welcoming, whenever we visit and has a warm atmosphere. My mum in law would definitely have no hesitation in going back in the future and we'd feel happy knowing she was there.
Really happy with Westerlands. Staff are very friendly, professional and look after my Wife very well. The home is always clean and smells clean. My Wife is very happy here. Can't fault anything.
All OK.
Mostly fine.
During my regular visits to Westerlands Care Village, I have always found the carers to be attentive and vigilant to the needs of the residents. They are friendly and purposeful to both residents and visitors treating each as an individual.
Having deservedly reach 5 Good CQC ratings which could have on some areas been excellent, Westerlands Care Village management and staff can be very proud of their hard work and continued efforts to make this a home something to be proud of. The home is very welcoming and tries to ensure there is a happy environment with management and staff engaging with residents, which with the variety of individual needs is not only very demanding but with all the other pressures on the home sometimes seems an uphill struggle. Westerlands management and staff need a few more pats on the back and a few thank you’s from all the relatives who depend on their skills and fortitude in what is a very underrated professional environment. We are now very much on the fast track and good fortune to the home and its continued success.
The absolutely fantastic staff could not do enough for Mum. They are very welcoming and friendly at all times and made what was a very difficult time easier to cope with, especially from my dad's perspective. The care and food were top notch at all times. They even welcomed Mum's pet dog to visit and it was made extremely welcome. I could not fault this care centre in any way and it certainly contributed to Mum's increasing condition improving and I would not have any problem in recommending.
My 97 year old mother, who has dementia made me promise not to put her in a care home, but when it became obvious that care provided in her bungalow was inadequate, I had no choice but to consider a care home. Mum has been a resident at Westerlands for 6months and she has settled into her new home, last week she told me 'I do like my home here, I like to sit and watch everyone and they wave and smile at me', when I asked if she was happy 'Oh yes' she replied, 'I've lots of friends and family here'. I cannot recommend Westerlands highly enough. Fantastic caring staff, a beautiful building in which to live, a conservatory, large grounds, wooden floors, light, bright and airy and an ensuite dual aspect bedroom. I don't have enough space to give more praise!
My mother has been at Westerlands for over 3 years now and I have found the home very good. They meet all her needs and all staff treat her with great care and dignity. She suffers from dementia and cannot communicate clearly but the staff try and respond to what she is trying to day. She still has a good sense of humour, and the staff try and keep that humour going for her. She is 91 years of age and I have found I can talk to all the staff easily and discuss her needs. I would definitely recommend Westerlands and feel that anyone there will be looked after properly.
Mum has been at Westerlands for almost 18 months and we are happy with the care she has received. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size with their own shower and WC. Mum is on a soft food diet which makes meals appear repetitive and unappealing, but she eats everything. Her dementia is quite advanced so she doesn't respond to activities. In our opinion Westerlands is a care home we could recommend to anyone.
I recently visited mum with my daughters. She was clean and tidy and happy to see us. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming as mum has been at Westerlands for more than a year now so I know them quite well. They were very busy on the day we visited (Good Friday) and were clearing up after lunch, which was fish and chips. The food is very well cooked, plenty of it and mum looks forward to all her meals. I popped into her room and it was clean and tidy with clean towels in her en-suite. Mum only uses her room to sleep in as she much prefers being in the lounge with other people around her for company and she has a good rapport with the carers. Since all the improvements have been made, my brother and I are happy with mum's care and there are lots more activities now to keep the residents happy. They often go out on trips, which mum loves and it gives her a change of scenery. If I have any problems, I just phone the manager and my questions are promptly answered.
