My dad went to The Grange in October 2023 after suffering delirium and a broken hip. I have always found the staff welcoming to family, also caring and positive towards my dad. The Grange has a homely feel and staff are consistent - which is important for my dad. They know him well and manager his care and needs well. Showing care and concern for him.
I have had a few experiences with care homes as I was looking for care for my mum, but I can say The Grange is by far the best I have seen, it is always spotless and never smells of urine like a lot of them do. It is a pleasure to go and see my brother knowing he is getting well looked after, it is superior to the one we settled on for Mum. Just like to praise all the staff for their very hard work.
The care of my wife over the past year has been excellent. The staff have looked after all her needs and when I have visited they have been good to me. I don't think they could do any better.
Every visit we make to see my mum we are greeted warmly by a member of staff. The atmosphere in the home is always welcoming. My mum is always smiling and happy, we as a family put that down to the care she is getting. Which we think is amazing! If there are any problems we are told straight away. Things are explained to us by management, even the smallest things. We are so glad she is somewhere she is safe, looked after, and loved. We can not thank you enough. We are grateful.
I would highly recommend the Grange after my mother was admitted 4 and a half years ago, where she received wonderful care and consideration from all the staff, whose dedication, commitment and professionalism have been outstanding. Well organised activities allowed all to join in and we were truly amazed by the beautiful homemade cakes straight from the Grange kitchen she received on her birthdays. She also took great delight in showing us her newly painted nails in a variety of colours when we visited. All of this put us as a family at ease knowing that she was in the best possible hands.
My mother was a resident at The Grange for just over a year. During that time the carers worked hard to support her as she tried to come to terms with Dementia. She was shown great kindness and consideration. Activities for residents were sometimes limited but the Activities Coordinator works really hard to make the best use of the resources available. Mum really enjoyed the freshly cooked food and the kitchen staff caters for her food preferences. Management dealt efficiently with any issues that arose and communication with the family was good. Sadly mum recently had to move to another care home. She and the family are sorry to be losing contact with the staff and residents we had grown fond of. We wish everyone at The Grange all the best for their future.
Following a fall and a stay in hospital, my mother was submitted to The Grange for a period of recovery. However, due to worsening dementia, she has become a permanent resident. Since day one, I have been extremely impressed with the care and attention by all staff I meet and speak to. The rooms are always clean and the staff try to engage with the residents at all times. I like that all residents eat their meals together in the dining room which brings a sense of community. It is a relief to know that my mother is safe in her environment (as she had started to wander) and that she is treated with care and dignity at all times. Whilst she is a very independent person, I think she understands that it is better for her to be in a place where she can be looked after. Since moving in, her attitude and general demeanour have improved. I would recommend The Grange to anyone looking for somewhere for a loved one who needs care and support.
Our mum settled here very quickly. The staff were lovely and always treated her with patience and kindness. Her privacy was always respected, as were her belongings. She always enjoyed the activities and was always included. Nothing but praise for all the staff.
I would highly recommend The Grange. I have a family friend who is in The Grange. I visit on a weekly basis and the staff are very friendly and the management can't do enough for the visitors and residents, nothing is too much trouble. The house is always clean and the facilities in the care home are fantastic. They have different activities on for the residents to get them up, about and enjoying themselves.
My mum was admitted to this care home via recommendation from the north Yorkshire council. Initially placed in the main house, which was beautiful, sadly, due to her worsening dementia a decision was made to move her to The Mews (a dementia-friendly unit). Here she got the support she needed. She regularly told us how kind the staff were, and how much she enjoyed the food. Mum sadly passed away, but highly recommend The Grange.
The management and all the staff at The Grange provided excellent care for my mother during her whole stay and in particular, during the last weeks of her life.
Mum was a resident for 10 months prior to her passing away recently. During her time at The Grange, Mum received kindness and support for her condition from the dedicated team of people working there. A lovely atmosphere at Christmas when family members were able to attend a pantomime one day and join in Christmas activities another day. Delicious assorted buffet made available for residents and guests too! Activities were adapted to meet each residents' needs. Telephone enquiries are dealt with in a very friendly manner. Beautiful residents' lounges.
I volunteered at the Christmas Fun Day to assist with arts and crafts. It was such a lovely day, with a happy and friendly atmosphere. Each and every one of the residents had access to the activities and were adapted/supported to their individual needs. It was also lovely to see families being involved too. I was made to feel welcome by both staff and residents and had some lovely chats and lots of laughs. The Grange is an absolute credit to the staff who work there.
Would like to say how fantastic The Grange is. The staff are absolutely amazing at what they do, they all wear masks and make me feel very safe and comfortable. I can't thank them enough for what they have done with my auntie. I have never seen her looking so good and healthy.
The difference in my mum is unbelievable since she moved in. The staff are fantastic with the residents and are so helpful. The house is always so clean and they do lots of activities with the residents. I can't say how much I am impressed with it all and have worked in care for 15 years.
The care home staff are wonderful and very kind and considerate to the residents and visitors. The new building is beautifully refurbished and the resident's bedrooms are very comfortable and have great amenities. This is the care home that has set a very high standard and the staff should be very proud.
I would highly recommend this home. After visiting a friend, who is a resident there, the visiting pod is just perfect and safe during these terrible times. It was spotlessly clean and masks were worn by all staff, which made me feel even safer. The staff are very friendly and the management can't do enough for the visitors and residents, nothing is too much trouble. My friend was telling me all about their new activities coordinator and having lunch in the garden and doing gardening, planting some beautiful flowers. It was lovely seeing them so happy. Highly recommended.
Absolute appalling experience. Upon reviewing this care home I saw that the reviews were really positive. Therefore I believed it was a highly reputable care home. My nan went into this care home for a trial only. Prior to this, I and my mum was looking after Nan daily, therefore our communication was paramount to Nan. For a number of weeks, this care home would not allow us any contact at all! Video calls declined, phone calls declined, any form of contact declined. Extremely distressing for us and most certainly for my nan with dementia. After a number of weeks, we finally saw nan and the deterioration was significant. The staff were rude, had no compassion and was consistently providing misleading information to family. Thankfully nan is now residing at an alternative placement, has improved significantly and family communication is being supported.
This is a wonderful, caring home with very friendly caring staff. Always happy to help. It has been a very difficult year and due to the restrictions, I have not been able to visit, however, the home has ensured that I receive video calls so we can keep in touch. Amazing, friendly home. I would definitely recommend.
I have visited my aunt recently and have been very impressed with the arrangements provided. I have also visited another relative in a different care home who have not provided such an innovative solution to Covid safe visiting. The staff were welcoming and friendly and projected a very positive image of themselves and the home.
