View Full Details of Craven Nursing HomeMy mum stayed in the home for a few months, and we were delighted with the care and support she received. She was developing dementia, losing mobility, and struggling to communicate, but the staff treated her with patience, kindness, and compassion. She formed lovely relationships with them, which made leaving her there much easier. We were always welcome to visit, make hot drinks, have snacks, and even join meals. The food was delicious, homemade, and perfect for the residents, which Mum loved. It was also nutritious, ideal for those in their care. As Mum's health deteriorated, she passed away in the home. I'll always be grateful for the kindness and support of the staff during her final days. They helped us understand what was happening, took care of Mum's needs, and allowed me to stay with her almost 24 hours a day. The experience was better than I ever imagined for me and I hope for Mum. Thank you, Craven Team.
My mum suffered from advanced dementia in the last years of her life and she was cared for at Craven Nursing Home. The nursing and support staff at Craven are experienced, very professional and caring. Mum was always treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Sometimes, because of the dementia, she would be agitated and her behaviour could be challenging but, without exception, all the staff were very patient and calm with her. Despite her severe dementia, they took the trouble to get to know her as a person, which meant a lot to our family. The leadership team at Craven promote a warm and friendly, safe and supportive environment for all their residents. Thank you for looking after Mum and supporting our family through difficult times.
Craven Nursing Home staff are very caring and professional in the way they looked after my father.
My father received 6 months end of life care during this last year at Craven Nursing Home. Although he was not mobile and so very quietly spoken, the staff took their time in getting to know him and enjoyed his sense of humour. He was cared for with the utmost professionalism, integrity and a high level of nursing, caring, kindness and compassion whilst also maintaining his dignity. It was a challenging time but the office doors were always open to offer support and advice and a friendly chat. The reception, caretakers, kitchen, activities team and laundry staff were all so very helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. As a family, we couldn’t recommend or thank Craven enough and I know my dad would’ve agreed.
My husband has been a resident of Craven Nursing Home for the past two years. During this time he has received the best care and I as a frequent visitor always find him very comfortable and well cared for, in fact, I couldn’t ask for anything more and it is such a pleasure to visit, as the staff are always very friendly and welcoming too! Any queries or requests are always dealt with quickly and efficiently. Would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home to anyone considering care for a loved one.
The staff, environment and amenities at Craven Nursing Home have always been exemplary and I am very happy that my mother receives such amazingly good care and support from the dedicated and attentive staff, for whom nothing ever seems too much trouble, no matter how busy they are. They provide a good range of activities suitable for residents of various abilities.
My father-in-law first went into Craven Nursing Home in July 2022 and has been quite a challenge for all the team. All the staff got to know him and knew what he liked/disliked and made his time in the nursing home special for him and us as a family. We can never thank them enough for all the care and support they gave him and us while he was there, the staff go above and beyond and work extremely hard and the management team are always there with an open door to listen and comfort when times are tough with a relative. The nursing home over the last couple of months supported us through a really hard time with his end-of-life care and we were so grateful for all the love and compassion they showed him making him comfortable and very settled at the end but also looking after us too. Craven is a special place and will always be special to us so thank you to all of you and keep doing what you do.
My stepmother was diagnosed with dementia in summer 2021. Following my father's death that June, we needed to find a suitable care home for my stepmother. Craven provided a wonderful home for her final 2 and a half years. She was well looked after, and enjoyed all the many activities provided (music, craft, flower arranging, mini bus trips) and also made friends. The nursing staff were brilliant, and her end-of-life care was provided with great dignity and support. The homes communication via weekly newsletters, regular face-to-face residents relatives meetings and monthly residents/relatives breakfasts was 1st class.
I cannot fault the care that Mum (who has many complex needs) received while in the Swan Ward. I could see her relaxing as she settled into her confidence in the care that she was getting. I spent many hours at Craven on most days in the early weeks, and I, too, soon became certain that our mother was in good hands. Furthermore, everybody who looked after Mum achieved the remarkable feat of convincing me that they were doing their long hours of intimate care with a sense of personal commitment to their patient, my mother. My experience is that Craven is a very good home, very well managed, and staffed by remarkable people.
In regards to my wife's care and time spent at Craven Nursing Home, she was very well looked after and the staff are amazing.
When my mother was admitted to Craven Nursing Home we were informed by the discharging hospital that she had days or possibly 'a short number of weeks' of life expectancy. My mum was unable to get out of her bed and only had very minor movement in one arm and her neck/shoulder muscles. She was extremely frail. Mother has been cared for in a caring, extremely compassionate and understanding way. I am delighted that 8 weeks after discharge Mum is still with us, she has strengthened, engaged with us and takes pleasure in what goes on around her. All the staff have a lovely, friendly and still professional manner and attitude. She has made progress on most fronts. Her movement and conversation have improved significantly. The nursing staff had a very good understanding of her complex needs and requirements.
My father's last year was very hard and the decision for Dad to go into full-time nursing care was not lightly taken. However, the staff at Craven provided excellent care and attention throughout Dad's residence. Knowing Dad was in safe hands was a great comfort to us.
My husband had very challenging behaviour when he was first admitted to Craven Nursing Home. All the staff were very professional and cared for him in a very gentle caring manner and they always smiled in spite of his behaviour. They all continue to meet his needs with genuine care and tenderness. Their calmness even when he needs three staff to help him has been exemplary. They look after me well too! Thank you.
I visited a friend in Heron Unit, what an uplifting experience. The staff were wonderful, attentive and caring. The room was welcoming with a lovely view up to the surrounding fields and hills. Great care was taken during personal care in the en-suite bathroom. Everywhere was spotless and although this may seem a small thing in the grand scheme of things it did not have the odour that in my experience some care homes have. You deserve great praise.
I would like to all staff at Craven Nursing Home for the excellent way that they are caring for my dad who has complex needs due to his dementia. He has been not been able to walk or stand since November 2022 and has to be hoisted and now moved using a wheelchair and they are marvellous with him. He is kept very clean and they are all very kind to him.
My dad has been looked after here since June 2022, the staff do an excellent job here. Everyone is very friendly and all do their best to help him even though little is known about his condition. They always contact me when he has falls which are part of his condition, which is often. My dad loves the trips out which has started more recently, something he has always loved doing. Only have good things to say about the home and all the staff, pity there are not more of them to make it easier for everyone else.
We received a lovely welcome on a grim November day and were shown to Mum's room. We had booked two weeks respite care. It was indeed respite, living up to the name. Thank you to all the hard-working staff - carers, cleaners, nursing, laundry staff, activities organiser etc. Mum loved one-to-one and singing. I loved being able to visit whenever I wanted. Craven Nursing Home almost became my home for two weeks. Thanks again!
My mother spent the last seven months of her life at Craven. She died recently of dementia. The loving care she received from the staff was amazing, well beyond what I'd have expected given her condition and associated behaviour and that includes all staff, managers, nurses, care staff and cleaners. My father, also a resident at the Home, was supported and equally lovingly cared for, meeting his specific needs as he spent so much of the day with his wife and is now being very well looked after through a difficult time for him. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Craven Nursing Home cared for my father, who had Alzheimer's disease, for about eighteen months. We were always impressed by the dedication of the team in Heron and as the disease progressed they adapted to his needs appropriately, keeping him comfortable and safe as he became frailer. He developed good relationships with many of the staff. They were very supportive to us as a family, especially in Dad's final few days and we will always be grateful to them.
Mum spent the last year of her life in the Craven Nursing Home, the care Mum received was beyond excellent, I can’t thank the nurses and carers enough for the love and considerate care they gave Mum in what was probably the most challenging times of their careers. During restrictions, my phone calls were answered with friendly cheerfulness and always gave me the information about Mum that I needed. When I could finally visit Mum in her room, from the moment I entered reception everyone greeted me with smiling cheerfulness and Mum was well cared for and happy. In the final weeks of Mums life, the care Mum received was outstanding. A huge thank you to the nurses and carers who sat with Mum in her final hours. I have no hesitation in recommending the Craven and its wonderful staff. Thank you all.
