My parents were both cared for at Greenwell. They had the best care there was. The care was above and beyond. Making my parent's last years easier for them and their relatives and my family give them a huge thank you and would recommend Greenwell for its care and devotion to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.
My father-in-law moved to Greenwell House from out of area, and our experience was extremely positive, from start to finish. The environment is great for an 80+-year-old - much more homely than any other care home we visited whilst also being clean and fresh (it smelt actively nice in his room - I forgot to ask how they do it!) We knew he was in the home for end-of-life care, and the staff were so incredibly kind both with ourselves and also, most importantly, in treating him with respect and dignity and always acting and thinking in a way which seemed very 'patient-centred'. They were also supportive and honest with us - both manager and one member of staff, in particular, for taking time to talk to us and make sure we were fully informed about his situation. This is well above what we had experienced elsewhere and was hugely appreciated and helped us adjust to his situation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greenwell - a great combination of experience, professionalism, warmth and smiley staff.
My wife spent five weeks at Greenwell House, having spent fifteen weeks in hospital with a pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs). During her stay at Greenwell House she was treated with excellent care to keep her comfortable until she passed away. We were able to visit unrestricted throughout during her stay. The staff were very sympathetic and kept us informed.
Since the start of the COVID epidemic and for nearly 10 months, I have been unable to see my dad in person. The manager and all her team that I have spoken with over this time, have updated me in an honest and sensitive way whenever I have contacted them. When you feel so useless due to restrictions, it is good to know Dad is being cared for by staff who are kind and caring. The staff have had their own health challenges to deal with which would have caused additional stress on the running of the nursing home and I just want to say thank you to you all. They are only two small words but come from the heart. Keep up the good work.
My father died in Greenwell Care Home after three months as a resident. He was 99 years old and died of frailty and old age. His last three months were very happy for him as he was looked after so wonderfully well, by all the staff. He had become used to living by himself, with the same resident carer living with him, and he hugely enjoyed the variety and interest shown by the staff at Greenwell House. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them, and they always had the time to chat to him and hear about his life and his family, to help him with his tablet when he became confused, and to make sure he had the little things that mattered to him, like the right type of tea every afternoon. They were very helpful when he came to out for lunch, and he always was well cared for and well turned out. He was a resident during the Covid lockdowns, but the home could not have been more understanding and helpful about visits, ensuring, in particular, that I was with him on the day that he died.
All the staff at Greenwell went the extra mile to make Dad happy. Their job was made difficult with Corvid, but they did a fantastic job. They were very kind to all of us in his family at a difficult time, this will stay with me forever. There can be nowhere better.
The care our mum received at Greenwell was way and above what we could have hoped for. Always treated with respect and dignity. All the staff were happy and cheerful, and always helpful. Nothing was too much trouble helping us as a family in a very difficult time. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Our mother had dementia and in her final days at home, she had excellent care going to her home. As her condition deteriorated, she needed more care. Local services were involved, they would not increase her care so it was terrible to see a 94year old lady left with no access to the toilet. Our prayers were answered and the angels arrived and she went into Greenwell care home. The care she received was wonderful, the staff made her last few weeks very comfortable. My sister and I cannot praise them enough. So please feel happy if you have to put a loved one in care. There is no better care home than Greenwell. We love the staff and thanks to them all.
When we went to look around Greenwell House for my mother-in-law it was such a homely feeling. She has been there for 7 months and is really happy. All the management and staff are so caring and kind to her and us when we visit, nothing is too much trouble and always offered tea/coffee. The place is always clean and the food is good. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a care home.
Mum went into Greenwell House initially for respite care after a spell in hospital but it was evident that she couldn't manage on her own and as she settled so well she is now a permanent resident there. As soon as you walk through the door there is such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, the staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. It's a home from home and all of us are treated more like family. It may not be a state of the art home but in Mum's words she just wanted to be safe and she is, - safe, secure and extremely well looked after by a dedicated and friendly team - what more could we ask for.
My dear dad had his final days in Greenwell House, Bedale and myself and all the family were so so taken care of as well as our dear Dad. His passing was made so much easier as the angels that care for them are just amazing. They gave us such strength which has brought such peace to our family. If it was me I would like my last days there, praise indeed.
My mother was a resident at Greenwell for four years until her recent passing. During that time, although her mental health was declining, she was treated with compassion and respect. The care and devotion to the residents is exceptional. The place is always spotlessly clean and the food always looked tempting. We have been absolutely delighted by the care all the staff gave my mother and cannot praise the home enough. Thank you to all the staff.
I was absolutely delighted and very relieved to see that my brother was treated with so much care, dignity and genuine love and kindness. This home has a lovely friendly atmosphere and my brother's last few weeks were made as comfortable and pain-free as possible, with so much attention and kindness was given to him. Thank you for everything.
Whenever I visit the residents are always happy, clean and well dressed. Those who can speak well of the staff their care and attentiveness, their courtesy and respect. The staff are helpful, happy and kind to me when I visit and residents are usually ready for the worship we sometimes lead. I would happily recommend Greenwell House to people seeking a new home with a high level of care. I know nothing of the organisational side so it's difficult to comment on the value for money.
Greenwell House is a very friendly family atmosphere created by all of the excellent staff. The cleanliness at times was excellent. I would certainly recommend this care home to anyone.
Very caring and loving people who were always totally professional as well. Well maintained facilities.
My father in law moved into Greenwell House in April 2019 as his care needs became so high due to terminal cancer. During his care at the home, he was treated with such love and dignity, and formed close bonds with the staff that put a smile on his face even on his last day. We are forever grateful to the manager and her amazing team for all they did for us and my father in law.
The care my father has received has been excellent. As his condition has changed they have adapted to keep him pain-free and comfortable. The staff are superb and really try to get to know the patients and build friendships in very difficult circumstances. Their care and compassion are amazing.
My mother recently passed away after living at Greenwell House for nearly 4 years. The care and support the staff gave us during this difficult period was second to none. They ensured my mother was always comfortable and well looked after. They kept us updated on any changes in mams condition. Greenwell is the most wonderful care home. My mother could not have ended her days anywhere better. The staff are fantastic and I would have no hesitation in recommending Greenwell to anyone. Thank you to all the staff you are the best.
The staff are extremely friendly and treat the residents with great dignity and are more than staff, they are friends. They sit and chat with them when they have time.
