View Full Details of South Park Care HomeAs the wife of a resident at South Park, I am very happy with all aspects of his care. My husband is very well looked after bu the team of carers, nurses, management and the behind-the-scences staff, eg cleaners, laundry, activities staff chefs, kitchen staff, maintenance man, etc. My husband is treated as an individual with respect, kindness and consideration. The staff are very hard-working, very polite and cheerful. It is a great relief to be confident that my husband is in very safe hands, and in such a caring home. Thank you!
Mum was at South Park for just over 2 years. She has significant nursing needs and received excellent care from the staff who treated her with dignity and respect. All staff across all teams, including management, were friendly and welcoming and showed exceptional patience with my 89 year old father with dementia who visited mum every day and whose condition deteriorated considerably over time. My only complaint would be around the fabric of the building which was dated and poorly maintained in places. Mum's room was in poor condition with peeling wallpaper, scuffed paintwork and the sink hanging off the wall all the time she was there. The home has 2 lifts but both were out of order at the same time on numerous occasions meaning my father could not visit due to his inability to climb the stairs to mum's first floor room, and mum could not attend activities as they were all held on the ground floor. It would definitely have improved her quality of life had these issues been addressed.
The premises are appealing and well-maintained, and they have a wide range of facilities. There is a good range of activities for guests, appropriate to their needs. Food and drink needs are fully satisfied and the place has the highest food safety rating. The staff, however, are the best aspect, invariably and without exception kind, caring helpful and all-round cheerful and smiling.
The staff are very welcoming and work very hard, all have time for a chat and make you feel like one of their family. There was a lot of entertainment in the lead up to Christmas and every resident got a Christmas present from the home and also a gift from Father Christmas. My husband is bed bound most of the time but the staff try to involve him in activities sometimes on a one to one basis. They also help him with his meals as he can't feed himself. I appreciate what they do for him.
My partner has been here for 5 weeks and has received fabulous care and assistance with all here needs. I would not hesitate in giving this care home an excellent rating.
Very pleased with the love and care show to my mother over the last 3 years she has been here. Definitely no complaints.
I have found all staff to be very professional and they all have time to speak to me if I need any advice. My mother is very happy and settled at South Park Care Home. She has dementia and requires every aspect of her day. She is very happy with the staff and she thinks of them as family. They are very kind to her. Some of the facilities are a little tired but adequate.
Excellent staff, felt like part of the family, will miss them all.
So pleased I chose this nursing home for my mum. Couldn't wish for more caring and efficient staff, all across the board. Can't speak highly enough of the home. Thank you.
Mum moved into South Park Care home in Feb 2024. She wasn't the easiest of people to deal with due to Dementia and her strong character, but the staff showed patience and kindness towards her and she has now got a good relationship with them. Unfortunately, she no longer recognises me, so this is very reassuring. The staff always had time to talk to Dad (92 years of age) and me when we visited. In May Dad started to get forgetful and ended up in hospital for 2 months where he was diagnosed with Dementia too. We managed to get him into South Park on a temporary stay, but thanks to the staff working hard behind the scenes he is now there permanently. This is a great comfort to our family knowing that Mum and Dad are still together after 69 years. I cannot thank the Staff at South Park enough for their patience with Mum, their time helping Dad settle in and going out of their way to keep Mum and Dad together.
My mother has been very happy in the care home having been a resident for nearly 4 years. The carers are kind, caring and meticulous in reporting medical changes. They also respond to any concerns I may have. The nursing staff are quick to respond to issues and are prompt in contacting me regarding any actions they take (calling on GP or community nurses. On a general note, there are regular activities for the ambulant wheelchair residents. There are many bedbound ones who I would like to see more engagement with. This one-to-one would obviously require more staff time. More hairdressing, nail painting and music playing would be appreciated for example.
Good care, love them all.
Mum has been in South Park for 15 months, during this time all staff (clinical and management) have remained supportive in offering the best care to my mum, also to family. Always approachable even at the busiest of times of the day. I have nothing but praise for high level of care given to Mum. The only minor flaw with South Park is that the bedrooms could do with updating.
What a fabulous place! The staff were so kind, caring, and compassionate, not just to my dad but to all of us as family members. Dad was so well looked after in the short time he was with them, which helped us massively as a family. A great place with the most amazing team!
Staff were friendly and most helpful, both to my stepdaughter and myself while caring for her father and my husband. Thank you all sincerely.
Well looked after by friendly staff.
My father-in-law was treated with care and dignity during his stay. He was a proud man who liked his privacy - his room was ideal for this as it was at the end of a short corridor, and he liked to have his door closed. The staff were helpful and informative. The family recommend this care home with no hesitation. Visitors welcome any time.
Initially Dad came for respite and stayed on. The first thing I noticed was how spotless the home is. Any staff you come across whether they are cleaning, cooking, sorting laundry, completing admin, organising activities, part of the care team or management are friendly and warm. The staff who care for my dad on the Jorvik unit are excellent. They are very busy, but will always make time to listen to any concerns or worries; they go out of their way to help Dad live his best life every day. He is actively encouraged to join in activities, which makes him feel like a valued member of the home. They notice if he is feeling down or ill or just in need of reassurance. When I'm at work I now have peace of mind he is safe, but also the trust that staff will ring and update me if there are any concerns. Staff cope admirably with challenges and no matter how my dad presents, they treat him with unconditional respect, compassion and good humour.
I feel my mother is being very well cared for. The staff are so patient and compassionate. The process was very simple, which took a lot of strain off myself and my partner.
The staff were excellent during my father's last six months of his life. They showed great kindness toward him and nothing was too much trouble. The staff are a credit to the care home. He was treated with care and dignity and our family are most grateful.
