View Full Details of Philips CourtOverall, I find that my mother-in-law receives very good all-around care, with the staff going overboard at all times to help.
I think the staff are excellent and have a very difficult job to do. I am very grateful for the care they give to my husband. I think the meals are very poor and the lack of vegetables is bad.
My experience here has been great for the 2 and a half years my dad has resided. We love the singers on Monday night, bar night get-together. My dad has settled and now wouldn't go elsewhere.
Absolute disgraceful place. The deputy manager is nothing but a disgraceful human, she's no empathy or any skills whatsoever when it comes to speaking with visitors, or anyone as it happens. I witnessed her shouting at nurses from another facility, who were coming to remove my mam to a safer care facility. Gave my mam sedatives without any doctors knowledge, left her slumped in a chair on my visit. My mother's first words to me were "I feel punch drunk". She could barely stand up. DOLS informed me of this issue (probably illegal). I'll find out after our family solicitor carries out their investigation. They only shower the patients twice a week, not great when they are mostly wearing nappies. On one occasion my mother was wearing trousers and a skirt, not great practices especially when hygiene priority is almost none existing. Residents left many times day after day in the same clothes with food stains etc on them. Stay well clear of this facility if you value your loved ones.
My Nana was moved to this home in December and after an awful few months for her and the family we felt relieved she was going to be settled and well looked after, how wrong could we be! The moment I walked in to see her I knew, the smell was revolting, my Nana sat there like a zombie (from meds she was given without being signed off), she was smelly and hadn't been cleaned. All the staff sat around on their phones doing absolutely nothing, faeces and phlegm all over the floor! This home isn't cut out to care for humans, I wouldn't even leave my dog there! The change in my Nana once she was removed said it all she went back to being happy and engaging. Please do not send any of your loved ones there they aren't capable of care.
If you care for your lived one please keep away. My mam was given sedation in her tea without doctors approval. (This is being investigated as I write this review and will be dealt with by a solicitor. The DOLs service advised us of this error.) My mam was like a zombie after just 3 days of being in there. She said she felt punch drunk. They Washed her twice a week, her hair was filthy every time we visited and she stank when she was removed and put back into hospital care and we had to throw away her clothes. The deputy manager is the most rudest person we have ever encountered. She spoke to staff and our family members disgustingly. She has no people skills at all so should not be in charge of a facility like this. My mam is a proud hygienic lady and would have been mortified if she could have seen herself. When back to hospital she was a different person, laughing and joining in the chat with the family which she did not do at this awful place. The staff just sat on their phones.
The care home is so respectful of the resident's dignity. They are so caring and love the patients as their own family. My husband was in Philips Court for three years and settled very well.
The staff are always helpful and pleasant whenever we visit. Nothing is too much trouble. My brother wasn't well and paramedics were called immediately, he spent a couple of days in hospital but his care quality was back to normal when he returned to Philips Court. Cannot find fault with the home or his care.
Friendly home where staff are pleasant. I have found the home clean and a good atmosphere, if there is an issue it's dealt with quickly. My brother-in-law seems content.
I have nothing but praise and respect for all the staff at Philips Court. They have treated my brother with respect and dignity, something which was sadly lacking in the first home he was in. He is kept clean and tidy and is content. Any minor problems are dealt with quickly and I am contacted quickly if there is any emergency.
The facilities at Philips Court are excellent with wide corridors a lovely day centre and a fabulous garden. Each resident is encouraged to live life as they please and have activity organisers on hand to support them. The care team are approachable and very caring. All credit to them as Philips Court does not shy away from supporting people with complex needs. The team go that extra mile. The whole team are friendly and approachable. My husband has been a resident here since January 2024 and each time I have had questions or concerns these have been swiftly acknowledged and resolved. I had a long search for the right care home for my husband and am pleased to have found Philips Court. Don't let the lack of paint to the outside and first appearances put you off it's the people that matter and Philips Court has some excellent people looking after people's loved ones. However, at times it would be great if there were one or two extra on hand to give additional support to one another.
Placing a loved one into the care of others is a very difficult thing to do but from the outset, we knew Philips Court was the right choice. My mum has been a resident since March 2024, from arriving she has been helped with kindness and dignity. The nursing staff and carers are professional, understanding, helpful and friendly. They do everything they can to assist Mum and have always got time for a chat. The manager and her team are very approachable, my questions or requests are dealt with quickly and nothing is too much trouble. There is a really positive atmosphere within Philips Court and there is also a lovely garden for the residents and visitors to enjoy.
The manager and staff are very friendly and caring. I'm very happy with the care my uncle is getting, he is very well looked after.
My Dad came to Philips Court from another care home. From our initial visit and introduction, there was a good sense and feeling that our Dad would be happy here. The team are absolutely wonderful and always treat our Dad as an individual, with respect, dignity and the love and care he deserves. The facilities at Philips Court are well thought out from the fab garden space, wide corridors, outstanding sensory room, many communal lounges (quiet, reading, tv, music etc) where residents can meet and engage with staff, each other and family etc. A major benefit is the investment in technology, so staff can record information whilst always being available to care for the residents. The ratio of available staff is outstanding and nothing is too much trouble for them. The highest praise is to say we wholeheartedly wish my Dad had been in Philips Court from the beginning of his care home journey. Thank you to all management and staff for looking after my Dad so brilliantly.
I think Philips Court is really good. We are treated very well and I have made lots of friends who are all very nice. I have made lots of friends and we have lots of laughs!
My mother became a resident in October 2023. She was at her lowest ebb when she arrived and reluctant to go. Within days the change in her was miraculous, she was a lot happier and wanted to live again. Nothing like she'd been previously. I put this down to the homely surroundings and the first-class care she receives. To hear her say things as she loves it here means loads to me and helps reduce the guilt I feel about admitting her. I have no complaints whatsoever and would highly recommend it.
My mother has been a resident here for over two years and at first, we were really pleased with the level of care she received and had a positive experience of the home. For the last 6 months or so we have noticed a marked deterioration in the home, both in terms of staffing levels and nutrition offered to residents. It is often impossible to get through on the telephone and communication between staff and relatives is not always satisfactory. Processed food rather than fresh ingredients are used and spaghetti hoops and spam are regularly seen on the lunchtime menu for residents, providing little to no nutritional benefit for vulnerable residents.
My mother has been in need of 24-hour professional nursing care for nearly two years, due to her illness and compounded by additional complex issues. The sort of care that we, as her family, were unable to provide, a previous care home could not manage, but which Philips Court staff undertook and continue to provide on a daily basis. Her care package is provided with a smile, a calming conversation, a warm heart, a cup of tea, a biscuit, and the utmost professionalism! From management, and to all other departments, including medical, administration, entertainment, care workers and catering/domestic/facility support, each and every person goes about their role and function ensuring all residents are well cared for, treated with respect and front and centre the main reason for the existence of the facility. May 2023 sees Mother approaching the end of her second year in Philips Court; I doubt she could be in a better place of care! Resident needs can be many and demanding - bravo all staff.
I continue to be astounded by the care and the quality of provision provided to my mam at Philips Court Care Home. It is truly like home from home the way the staff look after her. The deputy manager who is also a nurse offers so much in terms of care and she is so lovely with Mam. She really goes the extra mile. Also, the other nurses are fab. I cannot thank the care staff enough as well. They treat Mam as if she was their own. Mam has been in a couple of care homes prior to Philips Court and they did not provide the level and quality of care we now receive. Nothing is too much for them at Philips Court. Thank you so much staff.
Our mother has been in respite care at Philips Court and we have been so impressed with the wonderful care she has received. The care home manager made sure our mother’s care plan was comprehensive and thorough so that she settled in quickly. What has blown us away has been the outstanding level of care from our mother’s nurse, who has gone above and beyond to care for our mother and because of her we have been able to sleep at night. I can’t praise her highly enough. Thank you.
