View Full Details of Wallace HouseMy mother came to Wallace House as a resident in August. Staff were excellent in their care and respectfulness of my mum. Mum was treated with great care and dignity. Both my sister and I were very impressed with the staff and our mum received such excellent support whilst residing there.
Your staff looked after my mum with care and love which I'm forever grateful for. They made sure my mum was comfortable and pain-free right up to the end. Well done to all the carers and nurses at Wallace House. Thank you.
What a perfect care home for my relative! The staff are all very friendly and made not just us, but our relatives feel very welcomed and at ease. We were confident that we were making the correct decision from the moment we turned up. As a family, we feel that this care home was the best choice we could have made. It's such a shame that the person they cared for couldn't have spent longer here as the staff was so good with him and us, even in his final days. I would highly recommend this place because of its facilities, welcoming attitude, general feel, staff, food, and how they keep you informed about your relatives and their well-being.
Whilst my husband was being assessed for his illness and capabilities, he had been placed in quite a few different places and homes. His final placement which we had agreed would be permanent was at Wallace House, and the way he was treated there was wonderful, and put some of the other places he had been in to shame. I shall be ever-thankful to the staff at Wallace House for the care and attention given to my husband for his last couple of months, and his family join me in these wishes. Our thanks to everyone concerned.
A wonderful, down-to-earth residential care and nursing home. My father spent his final few weeks here, and Wallace House was, without doubt, the best place for him. The staff are all very friendly, and genuine, and know all the residents very well. Some care homes can be large, with many floors and separate areas, and no one to greet you at the front door... but Wallace House feels homely, warm, and welcoming. The staff met all of my dad's needs, and he always sat with other residents when we visited, laughing, joking, and watching TV. There is a wholesome atmosphere throughout the place, and our family will always remember the staff who were there with my father during his final hours, and their kind words to both him when his time came, and to us after he passed away. Thank you to you all - extremely highly recommended.
Always a warm welcome from staff, premises are always clean and tidy. Staff are kind, friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Staff provide care to the families of residents as you look after their loved ones, first-class care. You have no idea what this means to families. Thank you so very much.
Mum spent 8 weeks in Wallace House. I found that staff to be very friendly and very kind and caring towards my mum. The managers at Wallace House are excellent with all the residents and they are very experienced. This care home is small and cosy which really worked for Mum. In another larger home Mum would have been lost. A positive experience at Wallace House overall.
Wonderful care home with lovely attentive staff, who would greet you and always offer you a cup of tea when on visits. Lots of activities for the residents, and the diary always looks full to keep the residents entertained. The rooms are clean, with great facilities. They take great care of their residents.
When we were looking for a care home, we entered Wallace House and noticed there was no smell (of urine or horrible smells) which we'd found a good indication. Mam settled in well and the staff were great, Mam was clean/bathed regularly. The food looked amazing! When Mam was dying, the home kept Mam warm, and comfortable and we'd been kept informed so we were with her as she passed. This meant everything to us. Thank you. The staff and other residents became part of our extended family during the 14 months Mam was there.
When it came to selecting a care home for mum I relied heavily on my intuition and an exceptional recommendation from a trusted friend. Now after four months, I can confidently affirm that my initial instincts were indeed correct. While it did take some time for mum to acclimatize to her new surroundings the dedication and professionalism displayed by the staff has been truly remarkable. They continue to assess and improve her care always making sure that I am included in any decision making. Thank you.
My mother has been a resident in this care home for 6 months now. She has settled in extremely well thanks to the friendliness and caring from all the staff. Every time I go to visit her I am met with a welcome from everybody. I am extremely happy with the care my mother receives here, and more importantly my mother is very happy here.
My Aunt passed away peacefully in May 2023 aged 103. She had been a resident at Wallace House for seven years. Prior to moving into the home, we didn’t think she would live much longer - how wrong could we be. The lovely caring staff restored her back to a happy, funny, interesting person. For five years she had a reasonable quality of life - and was always clean and well-dressed whenever we visited. She was also obviously well-fed as she went from a size 14 to a size twenty - we were happy enough with that as she really enjoyed her food. She celebrated her 100th birthday in April 2020 - we had sent out invitations for a celebration to be held at the home but the lockdown came and we weren’t able to celebrate with her. However, the staff made sure she had a party and she celebrated in style. Sadly in the last few months, she was in decline, her body was exhausted, the rate of care never faulted and she was so comfortable and cosy as her life finally came to an end.
From the moment she arrived, my mother-in-law was given the care she needed to get back on her feet. She was cared for and respected by all the staff. She received her medications on time and was kept nourished and warm, all of which contributed to her recovery. The staff at Wallace House always had time for her and made sure she was comfortable and happy. We can't thank them enough for making her fit enough to go back home and live an independent life especially as she is 93 years old.
The care home is local to where I live. It is extremely well-led and supported by wonderful, caring individuals. They place great emphasis that this is my mum's "home" and not a care home. The staff are very attentive and have a proactive approach involving family members and the community. The team are always looking to engage the residents in extra activities. Selfishly, following my mum's placement here, I have been able to relax knowing the support she has around her. I would recommend this care home to all people looking for a great environment for their loved ones.
The strength of Wallace House is undoubtedly its staff. Management, cleaners, carers and nursing staff have all been excellent with my mam. My mam has been treated with respect and most of all with care. The atmosphere in the home is excellent with a real family feeling. The staff are all friendly, helpful and approachable. I have seen a lot of celebrations taking place e.g. Halloween which the residents seem to really enjoy. The food too is very good.
I’m pleased to say my mum is finally out of Wallace House after 2 years. She was put in there after having a stroke over lockdown. She is now away from the neglect and abuse she suffered, in this care home, mainly by agency staff who have been used over the last couple of years. Some of the permanent staff have seen what’s going on and for some reason have not reported what they have seen. These people all have a duty of care I would have thought. They haven’t been able to keep a permanent manager in this home over the last couple of years for some reason. We have watched this home go downhill rapidly and my mum has suffered because of this. Hopefully, now that they finally have a new permanent manager things may change. All we want for my mum is to be treated with respect dignity and love and to be cared for whatever time she has left. This home didn’t come near the mark on any of these. Totally inadequate!
Mam has settled well into Wallace House and is happy and contented. The staff all know Mam well and I am happy with their care and support of Mam. Mam enjoys the food and has gained weight. The home has special celebration days occasionally and Mam loves these days and the staff keep you informed of activities.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. If I can't make a visit I can chat to my mam on the phone, and I'm kept informed about her health by staff. Her room is clean and tidy when I visit, plus very comfortable. She's been taken out to the shops by staff which she loves. The hairdresser does a great job. Mam is very happy here. She can't wait for the garden to grow so she can plant seeds and grow vegetables.
My mother, who is 93, has been a resident at Wallace House for a number of years. My family and I are all delighted with her care. Mam is treated with dignity and is allowed to choose whether or not to join in activities. When they are able to, there are often fun activities organised and Mam like sing-alongs, getting her nails done and bingo. The staff treat her as if they are part of her family, and she is very content. Her health conditions are managed, and I am pleased that the preventative management of covid has been very successful. Management and staff have done their best to put safe processes in place and they are working.
My Dad absolutely loves living in Wallace House, the staff are wonderful. The activities keep him very entertained... I couldn't wish for anything more. Thank you all so so much. I'm just so glad he's happy.
