View Full Details of Briardene Care HomeOn the day my Uncle died, staff "forgot" to inform his GP and for 2 whole weeks because of this his death wasn't able to be registered. I expected the manager to write or ring me to apologise for this horrendous error but she never once tried to contact me. A week later i rang the home to be told the manager was in a meeting and would I speak to someone else. I said no thank you I would like to talk to her. The staff member told her what I had said so she sent a message back saying she would ring me after the meeting. To this day and its now weeks later she has not contacted me! To be manager of a "care" home and lack any conscience or compassion just beggars belief. Sorry Briardene, I sang your praises until this happened!
After over a years residency mum has settled in and seems content. The staff are kind and helpful. The admin staff are very helpful too. A big thank you to all the staff at Briardene Care Home.
Although my mother was only in a very short time before she passed, she was looked after very well as was I as a visitor. One of the nurses was exceptional in his manner and help. I would have no hesitation in recommending Briardene Care Home.
Mother moved into Briardene Care Home nine months ago and settled in very quickly. The staff and carers are great with her. THe whole place is very clean and she seems to join with most activities.
Our family has had a very good experience. My partner is well looked after, ther e has been a couple of issues but when I've spoken to management they have done everything to sort it out and they have. It's a very good place for my partner with needs, really recommend Briardene Care Home. Lovely, happy place.
Overall, great experience, no complaints. My mum never complains, so if she is happy, I'm happy. Staff do an amazing job. Well done all!
We would like to say thank you to all the staff at Briardene Care Home who looked after our dad for the last twenty-one months, carers, cleaners, laundry, catering, nurses, manager and admin. The care has been exceptional, giving the highest quality of care and consideration throughout. We couldn't have asked for anything more, staff's work has been outstanding. We also appreciate the care and consideration given to our mam whilst she has visited weekly. The care at the end of Dad's life was professional and dedicated. Thank you.
From the first step though the door, you are welcome. First impression is the key, I found it clean, no smells, and a highly motivated team of domestic engineers, hail the cleaners, I see them as big assets, apart from their duties they mingle well with the residents and nothing is a problem. Nursing staff all on their game. 100% given all the time, even when under pressure. Mangerment always open, any questions are answered. My review consists over a 4-month period and my visits have varied from different times, I can’t fault the staff or the home. Briardene is a top place, anyone wishing to place a loved one in there will not be disappointed. Just one thing, getting 'Good' from CQC. I think they need a wake-up call, I have been in other care homes and they don’t come up to scratch and are given 'Good'.
Another visit to see my mam, this has been her home for over 6 years. The hairdresser was doing my mam's hair when I arrived. Lovely homely feel to the home with the smell of home cooking! All areas are bright, clean and most importantly, the service users are well cared for by the amazing care team. Not forgetting the cooks, maintenance man and domestics. The manager has made some positive changes and has had a very positive impact on the home, she is very approachable and listens to any suggestions you may have. A timetable is displayed in the home to show what’s on and when. Entertainers and activities are on most days. I am so thankful that my mam is so well cared for and would definitely recommend Briardene.
In the short time my mother-in-law has been a resident at Briardene, I have found her to be clean, well fed and comfortable. The staff are caring and approachable. There are plenty of activities, which, hopefully, my mother-in-law will engaged with once she transitions to being in a care home. From what I have seen so far, Briardene appears to be a very good care home.
I have found Briaredene to be a friendly and hospitable place while visiting. My mother always looks clean and tidy, as well as her room. I like the fact that we can help ourselves to tea and coffee. Overall, very happy with my mother's care.
Overall my visit was satisfactory, everyone I was in contact with were very friendly and helpful, and the care home was clean, tidy, odour-free, and very festive with the Christmas tree all lit up and decorated.
It's alright. Comfortable, nice and warm. Friendly.
After 11 weeks in hospital, my dad was transferred to Briardeme. Although he is not always happy, his care has been excellent. The nurses know him, as do all of the carers. As a family, we know he is in the best place to have all of his needs met.
Staff have been really helpful.
Our mother has been in Briardene since September 2022. In often very challenging and distressing situations, the team of carers has been kind, compassionate and skilled in dealing with presentation. The staff team seem to be consistent and stable, which has allowed us and our mother to get to know people, which has been a great help. The environment is good and the garden is lovely. We have been very happy and relieved to have our mam at Briardene.
My experience when visiting my dearest friend has always been such that all staff have been very pleasant and most helpful. Always smiling and eager to go the extra mile. Comfortable rooms and spotlessly clean, generally a very well-run establishment. I'm happy that my friend is in a happy place.
My mum has lived at Briardene Care Home for thirteen years. She has always said it is "home from home". However, lately, things have changed since a new manager took over. Many core staff have left and new staff are lovely but seem stressed and overworked, not enough cover for every shift. Briardene needs to get back its friendly, family atmosphere where everyone is valued, staff, residents and families/friends and once again becomes 2home from home" (with help from upper management and us all).
We are delighted with my husband's care. The one area of improvement is on his personal care. I would ask the carers to think about how they would like to look. They are busy and kind but don't always comb his hair, wash his face or wipe away food as well as they might. Training required on hearing aids - please open the battery slot at night or the batteries drain.
We have found Briardene Care Home overall excellent.
