View Full Details of St Joseph's HomeThis is a wonderful care home. The staff are, without exception, kind, caring, professional and supportive. They keep me informed of every event and any problems. We recently held my cousin's 90th birthday party there and nothing was too much trouble. Her room is clean, tidy and well organised and her clothes are beautifully kept in her wardrobe. The food is delicious and a choice is always provided. The social space is light and well-planned and the social programme exciting, inclusive and happy. The grounds and views across the Tyne Valley are beautiful. Overall it is a happy, safe, healthy and friendly place for my cousin and we enjoy our visits. She is so well cared for.
My aunty has been a resident for a little over a year now. She is very happy there. The staff are very pleasant and courteous to residents and visitors. She can attend mass every day and has learned to paint.
I visited my Uncle with my husband earlier this week. It was lovely to see the wonderful attention and care that he is receiving from the Sisters, the nursing and care staff. We also met the GP who was reviewing my Uncle's medical needs during our visit. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St Joseph's for all your support. We are most grateful and appreciative.
My mam is a resident in this home and I am very happy with the care and attention she is given. We are always greeted with a warm welcome by the staff when we arrive and while we are at the home. She always looks clean and well cared for. The staff are very thorough regarding any medical attention she requires such as Covid booster jabs and we are always kept informed if these are taking place. I have no hesitation in recommending this home and I know my mam will be well cared for in the future.
My mother has been a resident of St Joseph's for almost twelve months and I cannot praise the home highly enough. Wonderful environment, spacious grounds, 24/7 registered nurse service, home cooked food, Monday to Friday activities. There is weekly access to the hair dresser and a GP surgery. The jewel in the ground is the staff, who are all without exception, professional, and truly caring. They really do go the extra mile. My mother loves her room, is happy, feels safe and regards many of the staff as her friends. St Joseph's truly delivers an exemplary service.
Amazing welcome for my uncle following prior discussion regarding his needs and preferences. Staff are so diligent. Activities weekdays vary and entertainment regularly. Meal times are very social and diet is given attention regarding individuals' personal preferences if necessary. Warm, peaceful atmosphere. Daily religious services. Homely and friendly.
My mother has a worsening dementia, which for a period created behavioural issues affecting both staff and residents. At all times I was kept informed about measures being considered to help her manage her problems. Eventually, through coordinating input from third party agencies (NHS/ Social Services and her GP), her medication prescriptions were amended. Consequently she has become increasingly settled and far less anxious. Previously, during our telephone conversations, her anxieties and woes were always very evident. Nowadays, I converse with a more relaxed Mother. In my experience, the staff at St Jo’s are never less than kind, well organised and professional, for which I am extremely grateful.
My husband has been cared for at St Joseph’s for 4 months. The care and attention he receives is exemplary. The nuns, the staff on his floor and the household staff are all so friendly, attentive and considerate. Nothing goes unnoticed, nothing is ignored but everything is covered. I find it hard to find words enough to thank everyone for what they do.
My parents recently spent a week in respite care at St Joseph's. They were apprehensive about leaving their home: however, the sisters and the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. They were very open to discussion with me and my brothers in preparing for the visit so that my parents' stay was very successful My father requires a great deal of support, and we all felt he was cared for to the highest standard. Although the stay was short, the carers quickly got to know my parents and made them feel welcome and supported. The home is absolutely spotlessly clean: the environment is quiet, peaceful and ordered. We were pleased to find that visitors were welcome at all times, and my brother and I could have supper with my mother one night in the dining room. My parents concluded that the care they had had was excellent - they could not find fault with any aspect of their stay.
My dear mother was a resident at St Joseph's for fourteen months before she sadly passed away. From her very first day, the amazing staff worked hard to make her feel welcome, safe and secure. Their dedication, commitment and hard work were always evident, as was the love, dignity and respect, which was shown to all the residents and their respective family members. My mother always said how grateful she was to live at St Joseph's, which was her home where she was able to socialise with other residents, fulfil her spiritual needs and be part of one big family with everyone; she said so lovely and kind. As a family, we also felt truly blessed and so grateful to the care and nursing staff, mother, sisters and all the staff who worked so hard to make St Joseph's a truly wonderful home.
My mother-in-law moved into the home just before Christmas. She was made to feel very welcome as soon as she arrived and has settled well. She speaks very highly of all the care team who treat her with dignity and respect. She was recently unwell and felt that she was very well cared for.
My mother is a resident at St Joseph's. She has dementia, and her caring needs are substantial. Overall, I am extremely happy with the care she receives at St Joseph's. The staff are always friendly and treat my mother with dignity and respect. My mother is happy, which is all I can ask at this stage of her life. The nuns are extremely supportive and friendly, and one sister always goes out of her way to make a fuss of my mother, and another sister is equally as friendly.
My mother-in-law went to St Joseph's for a week's respite care. She was very reluctant at first, but the staff took extra time to help her settle in and took very good care of her. When we went to pick her up at the end of the week, she was joining in with activities and looked so much more interactive than we had seen for a long time. She did tell us that she had enjoyed her time there and had changed her mind about care homes. I just wish we had let her have longer in respite as it was so good for her and the staff were so nice. Hopefully, we can get her back there at some time on a permanent basis.
My family are very satisfied with the care my mother receives at St Joseph's. The home is clean, warm and welcoming, the facilities are excellent, and the staff and volunteers are always very professional, friendly and caring. There are daily activities Monday to Friday should you wish to attend, daily Mass in the chapel, a lovely garden to spend time in, a library with plenty of books to borrow, pleasant lounges to sit in, and large communal areas. There is a shop to buy sweets, toiletries and cards. Overall, I rate St Joseph's as excellent
Our mum/nana is a resident here. We are so thankful to all the staff for the fantastic care she receives. She is so happy there and is always saying how wonderful and kind the staff are, how she has lots of laughs and has made lots of friends. When we visit, we see how caring the staff are and how well she is looked after. Thank you all so much.
My mother has been a resident at St Joseph's since April 2022, when we moved her from another (poor) care home after only six weeks. St Joseph's is an outstanding facility with professional, friendly staff and is always welcoming to visitors. I have been impressed at how the home makes contact with myself on a regular basis and keeps all of the family updated. My mother is clean, well-fed and, most importantly, cared for, not just looked after. There are numerous activities for the residents and even outside trips to the seaside and the pantomime. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others and only wish there were more like it. Well done to the staff, volunteers and church.
My aunt and uncle moved into St Joseph's five months ago, and from day one, they have been made to feel so very welcome by staff and fellow residents alike. The kindness shown by all staff members towards them both has been outstanding, with some acts of kindness really going beyond what we, as family members, expected. Facilities are of a high standard, with plenty of activities planned to keep them fully entertained.
My aunt has been very well cared for, and all her needs have been met. She has improved in every way physically and looks so much better than when she arrived. This is thanks to all members of staff who have treated her with patience, kindness and respect. St Joseph's is a wonderful, safe, caring home, and she is so fortunate to be able to live there as it is very important for her to be able to attend all the services as she has always been religious. I am always welcome when I come to visit, and the atmosphere is calm and friendly. The activities are also very helpful in her situation. Thank you so much.
The care provided is first class, the premises scrupulously clean, and the staff provide an outstanding level of care to the residents and visitors alike. All are welcoming, and as far as care homes go, this is an outstanding example for the sector.
St Joseph's care home is like a family to the people in their care. My dear friend was a resident for a number of years before she sadly passed away. All of the staff did a fantastic job caring for her in her last week, and the nursing staff were amazing and attentive to her every need. Controlling her pain, keeping her comfortable and keeping us informed of any changes. We received reassurance and were made to feel at home through this awful time. The grounds are wonderful, and the chapel is accessible no matter what your mobility is like. I would not hesitate to recommend this home from home.
