View Full Details of Rosemount Care HomeThe home has improved considerably since the introduction of a new manager last year! As I see on a daily basis, staff are clearly committed to doing the best job they can. They are always respectful and genuinely caring. All staff, including nurses, carers, kitchen and cleaners work hard and provide very good support. I feel reassured that my wife is in safe hands.
I couldn't thank the staff enough for how they have welcomed and cared for my grandpa since he was admitted, the 2 months he spent in hospital I could see he was going downhill, spending his days in bed and not really eating. But since being at the home he has come back to life and I have the staff and manager to thank for this. He seems so much brighter and happier, I was expecting this process to be stressful for both grandpa and our family, but it has been so easy and smooth again thanks to the manager and her staff, could not recommend this home enough.
A really big difference in the care home from the day the manager took over. Really approachable, open and honest, her and her team have worked really hard to improve things for residents. When she says she will do something it's done and is working very hard to achieve better for the home. Has recently been taken over and things are definitely moving in the right direction.
Since the introduction of a new manager this year, there has been a significant improvement in the overall running of Rosemount Care Home. The manager is caring, friendly and if there are any issues I can raise them and I am confident they will be addressed quickly, Staff are very good, helpful and treat my mother with dignity. Entertainment staff are excellent. Brighter, more homely communal areas after recent redecoration. Mom enjoys the food and activities.
Absolutely shocking from day one! My father was left soaking wet for over 2 hours (with him pressing his buzzer) and only given a towel to dry himself from staff. I went later on with my mum and pushed the buzzer and was told the staff "were on their way". My father requested I stayed during this change and the staff would not allow us to. We waited closely to his room for over 30 minutes. We went back into his room and he stated that the staff searched vigorously through all his belongings we had just brought in, eying up all the designer t-shirts he had. We visited again the next day and my father was not at all himself, he was shaking erratically. It was like he was given too much medication. One day later, we got a phone call to say he had sadly passed away. Tonight we went back to the home to collect his belongings and we were greeted by a very poorly resident who should not have been at the door unattended. There were no staff visible at all. Think twice about this home.
The manager, carers and staff are very caring and supportive. Good selection of menus.
Generally good, safe environment. Care staff generally very helpful and supportive. New manager doing a good job. Excellent contact and communication with residents and relatives.
The staff are welcoming and friendly and do their job in a professional manner. However, I do feel there could be an increase in staff numbers to enable even better results. The decor of the rooms needs improving. New duvet covers, pillows and curtains need replacing to freshen the appearance. The Horseshoe courtyard leaves a lot to be desired. Weeding, new furniture and some plants would improve its appearance. Overall I am happy with the care my husband receives.
My dad was in Rosemount for 5 months. Some of the carers were lovely with him, some weren't. One in particular complained when my dad pressed his buzzer for assistance. He was unable to do anything for himself. His bedroom didn't look clean. Dirty dishes being left often for more than 24 hours. He spent the final months having nursing care. He was so weak, unable to press his buzzer. He would shout when he needed assistance. A carer closed his door so no one could hear him shouting. The buzzer was also placed out of his reach many times. My dad's final weeks were very upsetting. I visited and he was dirty. I had to ask for him to be cleaned. I dread to think how long he'd have been left if I hadn't gone in. There were safeguarding concerns raised by a healthcare professional about dad's care. I'm unsure of the outcome and my dad has recently passed away. Rosemount hasn't initiated any contact since my dad passed away. No condolences offered by management.
Manager and staff all very kind. Glad my mam is safe and happy. The room is big enough for her needs. Only complaint is the drinks trolley coming around and some staff not knowing how to make basic cupper coffee!
The next best thing to living at home.
Over 18 months my family member was at Rosemount, we were never satisfied with her care. Her room was dark, dingy and more often than not extremely smelly. We did complain but things never improved. According to her contract with the home she was supposed to have a chair provided, so she spent many hours sitting on a commode even to eat her meals until we organised a chair for her. Her last few weeks she had been moved to nursing care but we saw no change in her care. We tried to speak to the nurse in charge (but they were always in meetings). The day before she passed away she was taken to hospital, not even to be accompanied by a member of staff until a family member could get there. Hospital staff were appalled by her condition dirty and dehydrated. The management of Rosemount needs to be ashamed of the way this lady spent the last days of her life.
Main concern is the extensive use of agency staff. This often appears to lead to miscommunication and delay. Permanent staff are friendly and helpful. Good activities arrangments.
I find the staff/carers extremely kind and very caring. They were extremely good with my mother, who came here but sadly passed. The staff have been wonderful with my dad. I honestly can't fault them.
My husband was a resident at Rosemount Care Home for several months and I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the staff for the care administered in trying times. I understand that staffing can be an issue, but they pulled together and provided him with the best care and kindness and for that I will be eternally grateful. They catered to his specific needs with no question and always had a smile with the service provided. Thank you Rosemount, you were outstanding.
Rosemount Care Home care staff doing everything possible to mitigate the impact of Lewy Body Dementia as diagnosed earlier this year.
Staff seem genuinely caring and know the residents well. They seem to be regular staff and not "bank" staff.
I would not recommend that anyone send a relative to this place. My mum was here for a while and we were so pleased to be able to get her out. The rooms were dark and dingy and were not kept properly clean, my mum was always sitting on her own in dirty clothes and one time I found her still in bed at 11.30 am with dirty clothes lying on top of her. Only one member of staff would engage with me when I asked questions, the others would literally run away and a woman, who I assume was the home manager, was very rude to me when I waited to speak to her. The staff did not actively come to speak to me to let me know how my mum was doing or settling in. The residents seem to be sitting in the day room most of the time in front of a very small TV, with little or no engagement with staff. Unbelievably, when my sister went to visit my mum one day and found her in the day room with one of carers fast asleep. When she woke up, she did not care that she had been caught sleeping on the job!
We cannot find any fault at all with Rosemound Care Home. All the staff looked after our mam and nanna with the greatest of dignity and respect. Thank you.
I would not recommend this care home to anyone. My dad was in here for about 5 weeks before passing away and was not looked after very well, hardly ever washed or shaved, his bed was not made, the floor in his room was sticky, that part of the building stunk to high heaven. The staff, especially the Manager, hid in her office, spoke to Mum once and the Head Nurse could not give my mum an update on his wellbeing. Some of the staff were helpful - my mum had to help him. She would find him sitting in his own filth, when he was given a drink no one was there to help him drink it, he couldn't do that on his own. No stimulation in that lounge, the poor souls just left to sleep all day. I could go on but running out of space. I hope this review is published as I want other relatives to know what it is like. I doubt if it will be published but live in hope.
