View Full Details of St George's Residential HomeMy husband has had really good care since he arrived at St Georges, which has eased so much worry off me. He gets on well with all the staff, they all make a fuss of him. He cannot walk, but nothing is too much trouble. He has been well looked after with finding the right medication for him. St Georges couldn't be more friendlier.
Since my father started to live and be cared for by the very caring competent team of staff at St George's it has been an ongoing professional partnership between the home and the family to ensure Dad is given the best and appropriate care to make the rest of his life as comfortable and happy as possible. Extremely positive about his care and the staff are so approachable if we have any questions or concerns.
Mam has been a resident of St George's for 4 years. She is now settled, comfortable and well cared for. The home is small compared to others but I personally think this is a positive as it creates a family atmosphere. Food and drink are plentiful and well-monitored. The staff are excellent very friendly, caring and polite. The staff and management are very approachable if you have a concern or problem. The home is clean and the decor is nice. Rooms are comfortable and can be decorated with personal items to look more homely. The ethics of the home are excellent and carried out by everyone. Residents are treated with kindness. Would recommend.
My sister and I looked at several care homes before arriving at St George's. From the minute I walked into the door and met the staff I felt this was the best place for my mam. The staff are genuine, kind, caring and supportive. They treat Mam with respect, patience, kindness and of course humour. Mam has settled well and appears to have good relationships with all the staff. The food is nutritional and varied and staff encourage Mam to eat her food, which is so much appreciated. I wish to thank the whole staff team at St George's for looking after my mam and providing her with a safe and calm environment which I know meets her needs very well.
My mum loves being in St George's Residential Home. It gives safe, warm and respectful care. We are always made to feel very welcome. She has excellent care from all the staff. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy. The food is tasty and nutritious, and Mum especially likes the puddings and custard options. She enjoys socialising with the residents and thoroughly enjoys taking part in the activities and trips out. We had an occasion to contact the head office regarding a financial matter and one gentleman resolved the issue promptly and efficiently and in a very friendly manner.
I am very happy with this care home. Staff and management are very good and look after my husband's care needs very well. The food is excellent, and all rooms are kept very clean and tidy. Staff and management are very friendly and polite.
My mother-in-law loves being in St George's care home and enjoys socialising with the staff and other residents. Warm, welcoming atmosphere. Enjoys going out on the trips provided by the home and enjoys joining in with the activities.
My 87-year-old sister has been in the care home for several months and settled very well and loves living there. The staff are kind, respectful and always jolly when you speak to them. Also, I recently had a fall in a church car park adjacent to the care home, the staff kept me warm and comfortable as I lay on the gravel for 45 minutes until the ambulance arrived. When I was well enough to visit my sister the staff came and asked how I was and if I was recovering well. Thank you.
Since my mam has been in St George's, she's always been well looked after, and the care she's given has totally put my mind at rest as she has been in a few. But St George's is, in my opinion, I have never seen my mam at her happiest. My mam is well known and has been in St George's for a long time, and I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. Keep up the good work, St George's.
From the moment we were shown around the home, we believed that it would be the most suitable accommodation. We were not sure how my mother-in-law would settle at first, as she has had a lot going on and had just been discharged from the hospital. After nearly three months, however, we can say that she has settled in very well, she enjoys taking part in the various activities, and we feel that she is being well looked after. She has said herself that the staff could not be more friendly and helpful, and we have seen for ourselves the respect and care that they provide for all of the residents. Although she has some continuing medical needs, these are all well attended to by the staff who liaise with the medical professionals to ensure that the necessary medical care is also in place, informing us when necessary as to what has happened. We feel comfortable about the care she is receiving and believe that she is being well looked after and her needs are being fully met. Communication has been excellent.
My mother has been in St George's care home for two years now, and it is somewhere that everyone feels is the right place, surrounded by excellent care and conditions for the specific condition. Our mother is happy, safe and stimulated. It is our first experience of 24-hour care, and as a family, we feel that we made a great choice.
This is a friendly, caring environment with caring, supportive staff.
Excellent - staff great, facilities great. Brother happy.
My mam has been a resident for roughly two years, and we have a lot of time and respect for the team here; they have taken excellent care of her. I have to admit, from what I've heard over the years about care homes, I was very wary when my mam had to be placed in one. But she couldn't be in a better place. I can only commend every who works here and thank them.
My Mum has been a resident for a number of years and at almost 94 is doing remarkably well. She gets the best of attention and is extremely well looked after. She now suffers from dementia but is happy in her own world. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St George’s. The caring attitude and cheerfulness are outstanding. Many thanks.
I live overseas so contact is by phone or iPad. Staff have been so helpful and friendly. After I have talked to mum, the carer will update me on how mum is doing. They show compassion and care. My mum has settled in well and has been encouraged to participate in activities which has really improved her health.
Since Covid-19 nursing homes have been very challenged and have to develop different strategies to keep residents safe, entertained and find alternative ways to allow them to continue to engage with friends and family. The manager and staff at St George's have been amazing and have risen to the challenge. They encourage all to engage with a very full entertainment program, encourage zoom/telephone calls and post daily photos on social media. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff, appear genuinely caring and nothing seems to much trouble. Everybody is extremely polite and there is a lot of humour which is essential in this environment. I have no criticisms and would have no hesitation about recommending St George’s.
Best decision we made! I am so glad that we made the decision to move my dad to St George's Residential Home. He, himself has also stated that he should have been there from the start. The staff are caring and helpful and nothing is ever a bother. After having a bad experience at a previous home (a different company) with not having enough to eat, this home is the total opposite - he can have anything he likes and anytime and I am happy to hear that my dad is enjoying his food and never hungry. Overall, I feel he is being well looked after and I trust the staff to look after my dad especially in these hard times. Thank you St George's Residential Home.
I would not recommend anyone to put their family in this home. I can not fault the staff especially the care staff. They are very good at what they do and very polite but it seems that every time I have been they are always short-staffed and overworked. Due to being short, they are unable to provide the right care needed, some of the team leaders are more than happy to do everything they can to assist with our concerns and enquiries as the current manager always says she will sort things out or get back to you but she never does or never available to talk. There is very little communication where the manager is concerned. I feel she is not interested. When I talk to my relative they are always saying they are hungry they always seem to be doing the same activities and care staff always seem to be doing them. It's a shame to put this on as I feel 7 or 8 months ago the home was at its best and I would have recommended it to anyone, but the last 2 or 3 months, the home seriously dropped its standard.
Throughout the pandemic despite the home having the virus, the performance of both the management of the group and the staff at the home has been amazing. The quality and humanity if the care has exceeded any expectation you could have and they have gone the extra mile to keep relatives well informed on events unfolding. The new, COVID secure visit pod is also impressive.
