View Full Details of Allison HouseMy mum was at Alison House for 15 months before her recent passing. This was her third care home so I feel as though my feedback is properly considered. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the care, patience and tenacity the care home provides for all its residents, sometimes in very difficult and challenging circumstances. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any member of staff whether they be a nurse or housekeeping. My mum's room was always spotless as was the rest of the care home. Their care and patience with my mum were always exceptional and made me and my family feel as though they loved my mum too, even on her very challenging days. We as a family could not have wished for my mum to have spent her last days anywhere but here, which is a huge comfort to us all at this very sad time. The manager and your team are amazing, thank you so much for taking such good care of our mum.
Allison House has looked after my husband for 4 years and continues to do so. It is uniquely designed for dementia sufferers and residents are looked after with care and compassion. The care my husband receives is second to none. The management and staff are outstanding, they are professional, kind and supportive. As his wife I feel welcomed as part of "the family" and encouraged to be involved in his daily care which is important to me. He is shown dignity and respect from all carers and staff in all departments. Each resident has their own unique care plan and there are always carers available to discuss the care being provided. They understand all his needs and act on them accordingly. When I have had any problems I have always felt able to highlight them and together have found a positive way forward. The nursing care is of a high standard. They keep me informed at all stages of his care and provide a caring safe and secure environment. Thank you for making each day precious.
My husband has been in two other care homes in this area this year, we visit him every day and he always looked unkempt and angry. Since he moved to Allison House in May, he always looks clean and tidy and well dressed. He's had a spate of seizures recently and the nursing staff contact a doctor immediately and he is taken to hospital if required within minutes. He has been cared for wonderfully. The care home has provided 24-hour care for him when it's needed. He is very happy there.
My dad has been in Allison House for approximately a year and during this time the care provided to him has been excellent. I have had experience of a variety of care homes in the past that care for dementia sufferers, some good, some bad and some indifferent and Allison House is by far the best in my opinion. The manager and staff are simply brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and they go the extra mile continuously, they just ‘get it’! The home is spotlessly clean and there are always carers visible who are readily accessible and available for any of Dad's or my needs when I'm visiting. As a result, I have total confidence in the care home to look after my dad in a caring compassionate and empathetic way so each time I leave him after having visited I am completely content that he is in the best place possible.
Nice and cheery surroundings and the part I like best about it is there are different day rooms in different areas so there is somewhere you can go for quiet time. There is also a garden that can be approached anytime, however, could benefit from being more user-friendly and some remedial work done. Caring and approachable staff. Clean and tidy, however, they could be much improvement on the laundry system, for example that the residents get the correct clothing back.
My wife has Alzheimer's and since arriving at Alison House Care Home, she has stabilised dramatically with the professional care of all staff and management. I would also wish to say that my wife and all residents are treated as friends and there is a warm, friendly atmosphere throughout the building. I can witness this as I have visited my wife every day for the last year.
My wife was admitted on 25.01.2020. The quality of care and maintenance of the site have deteriorated following covid lockdowns ie grassed areas and borders not maintained, limited activities for clients, no hairdresser, infection control weak when no staff member monitoring access into the home, changes in procedures for visitors not sent out to close relatives via email, or the 1 newsletter in 2 years, staff not always wearing masks. I have limited my comments to areas I have rated 'poor' or 'satisfactory'.
My nan stayed here during her last years with us. Allison House and all its staff have been amazing. They are so caring, passionate with residents and I couldn't thank them enough for this. All the way through the pandemic they have been there for my nan and any family of my nan's wanting to visit. Allison House staff were there for my nan right to the end! Giving warmth love comfort at the hardest of times I wish I could do more to help them as they have helped her. Thank you!
I feel really lucky to have had the people at Allison House look after my Dad. During the COVID lockdown at the end of 2020, he unexpectedly became very ill and after two months in hospital he was no longer able to look after himself and was too ill for my family to look after him. Social services helped find a place for him at Allison House. I had not been able to see my Dad while he was in hospital. The care home manager arranged for me to see him the day after he arrived which was amazing and really helped settle my anxieties. I had no experience of care homes at all and really relied on her to let me know what was going on and what needed to be done. She is one in a million. I visited regularly and the kind staff helped build him up and get him as well as he could be. He put on weight and started communicating more and more. All the staff spoke to him as a friend with real compassion. I simply cannot fault the care that he received.
Care as always has been excellent both me and my wife feel well supported. This is because over the years I have got to know and trust the staff members of Allison House Thornaby. However, currently, the COVID-19 restrictions mean that my wife is confined to her room and apart from me she can have no visitors. Furthermore, I am unable to take my wife to the community. These restrictions seem draconian and I hope they will be reviewed as the country learns to live with COVID-19.
My mother has been a resident at Allison House for almost two years. In this time I feel she has been cared for in the best way possible, she seems happy and settled. Communication between myself and everyone at Allison House is excellent. I am kept up to date with the well-being of my mum and anything that is happening in the home.
My dad is settled and getting well looked after by the staff. Always kept up to date by phone if there is a problem or my dad is ill. Staff always friendly when I phone to see how my dad is and have always said you can phone anytime to check.
I can’t thank the staff enough for the great care my husband is receiving at Allison House. In the short time he has resided there he is making progress in his rehabilitation. The staff are very dedicated and caring. They support us as a family ensuring we maintain contact via video calls with our loved one at such a difficult time during the pandemic. It takes the pressure away knowing he is in safe hands.
My mother spent four years at Allison House until her death at the end of January. We were very impressed by the dedication and care shown by the staff, who went out of their way to provide personal and devoted care to our mother. It helped us a great deal to know how well she was being cared for. We could not recommend the Allison House staff and facilities highly enough.
I have been impressed with the care given to my father, he has settled well. They are aware of his needs and they are active in promoting his independence and providing him with links outside of the home which he enjoys.
High standards of care, friendly approachable highly professional staff. Manage difficult situations well with care and compassion for residents and their relatives. Mum can be quite difficult to manage at times, the staff never make a fuss they just calmly deal with any situation which arises. The activities organiser is really lovely always spends time getting to know new residents interests and abilities.
