View Full Details of Springfield Lodge Care HomeMy mam went into Springfield Lodge in June last year, she was very hesitant to go into care after looking after herself at home. She was welcomed with open arms by the staff who made to feel at home. Staff are lovely and very caring. Mam loved the food especially the puddings. Mam wasn't in the best of health while she was At Springfield but the done everything they could for her. Mam sadly passed in January, the care and love they showed to us as a family after her passing was amazing, I couldn't thank them enough. The staff and management are amazing!
My mam settled in really well from first entering the home. She tells us she is well looked after and likes all the staff, which is a great comfort to me and the family, and is looking forward to continuing her residency at the care home.
My dad is 97 years old. He has been at Springfield Lodge for four months. My dad is a very impatient and strong-willed person, and we anticipated that he would take time to adapt to life in a care home. However, the staff have been very supportive and caring and helped him make this transition from life in his own home. This is a very friendly care home, where the management and staff go out of their way to ensure residents and visitors have an enjoyable experience!
I viewed quite a few care homes, but Springfield Lodge was exactly what I was looking for. This is because it was a lot smaller, more homely, less people and less noise. This is exactly what would suit my dad's needs. The lounge/conservatory is so relaxing and home from home. I felt so comfortable and relaxed when I sat in that room. My dad settled in straight away and is very happy with his new home. This is the proof of the pudding.
Had my husband in for respite for two weeks. He said lovely care home, staff are so friendly, plenty to do for the residents and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend Springfield Lodge to anyone.
Springfield Lodge is bouncing back after a difficult post-Covid period - instability due to several changes in management and some issues raised at their last CQC inspection. Staffing levels have gone back up, and there seems to be less reliance on agency staff. Some of the new staff, in particular, are proving their worth immediately. My mother had been having difficulty eating as she is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and is 92. The new chef has gone out of her way to ensure Mum has lovely finger food and enough choice available. The menu is varied and inventive. Today was a choice between lamb steaks or frittata with new potatoes and vegetables, followed by a golden syrup sponge. Fresh cakes are available daily. In her first week as chef, my mum put on 4lb, which when she only weighs around 7stone, is massive. She seems more alert and less sleepy during the day, which is lovely to see.
My mother has been in Springfield Lodge for over two years now, and we are very happy with the care and attention she receives. She is bedbound, so cannot participate in the organised activities taking place, but when we visit, it is a pleasure to see the joy on the faces of the residents who are participating in craft activities, sing-songs, dancing etc. Dogs and children are welcome to visit, although it takes us a lot longer to get to visit Mam with them when walking through the conservatory, as dogs and children are very much adored by the residents - and staff! A member of the family visits her every day, and the home is always calm, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are excellent - caring and approachable, and we are kept informed of any developments with Mam's needs and health.
Always feel that Mam isn’t alone when I leave after a visit. The care Mam receives is unconditional; they adore her. Everyone is approachable, from the manager to the cleaner, and nothing is ever any trouble to them. Great activities for the residents too.
My grandfather is being cared for full-time by the lovely staff at Springfield Lodge right now. We cannot speak more highly of this facility and of the staff, who are all exceptional. Springfield Lodge is very clean and warm and has a homely rather than institutional feeling. The Lodge is extremely secure, with doors locked at all times, allowing entry/exit via a manned intercom system. Whether it be for respite or long-term care, you can be sure your family member will be well looked after here.
My mother has been at Springfield Lodge for 18-months and has a spacious room with a pleasant view, which is important as she is bedbound. The staff have been great-helpful, friendly and caring, and she enjoys interacting with them to keep her spirits up. Despite various difficulties the care home has had to deal with, we have appreciated being kept in touch with developments with regards to visiting and the ever-changing rules from central and local Government. The management has been very accommodating, which means a lot both to my mother and the family. Thank you.
My mother has a clean and spacious room, has regular showers, pampering, social interaction and activities to stimulate her mind, assistance with dressing, enjoys home-cooked food favourites, has a garden view, has made good friends, is cared for by male and female nurses brilliantly, is encouraged, included and respected, she is happy and content. She speaks highly of the staff and residents. Loves the sing songs and dominoes, bingo, etc, especially the garden pond area in summertime. Far better than living alone, given Dad's quick transition to spirit. She's administered medication and has received all relevant vaccinations, plus hair appt, papers and birthday cakes, etc. Well done to the whole team and both manager and deputy manager.
I currently live in New Zealand, but Sadly my mam developed Alzheimers disease having been diagnosed in 2017 by the community mental health team I was manager for. As all relatives, I was devastated, and being so far away, it made it really difficult for me to deal with things. Mam was very fortunate to have an excellent care team, but with the onset of the Coronavirus, her ability to remain independent was no longer possible, and the very difficult decision to put Mam into care had to be made. Sadly I was unable to be there, Springfield was recommended, and Mam became a resident in June 2020. I have just been to the UK for 2-months, and I can honestly say, I was so impressed with the care she is receiving, the staff are amazing, and it is like a home from home. The place is spotless and Mam is well and settled; the food is excellent, the staff are amazing with all the residents and show them love and respect. I would just like to thank them all for the amazing work they do. Merry Christmas.
The standard of care the residents get are excellent. Nothing is too much bother for the staff. They are always doing activities for the residents to keep them engaged. You are always kept up to date with any disruptions due to Covid, and just recently, with the storm and power cuts. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.
We are very grateful to all the staff at Springfield Lodge for providing excellent care for our mother, who has dementia. She joined Springfield Lodge in January 2020, and since then, she has been looked after with care and dignity. The staff are always very positive and friendly, and the range of activities within the home has been excellent (and much needed during the long lockdowns). The management and leadership team are always accommodating and available, and they constantly develop the activities programme for the residents. We have been very happy with the service and care given.
An exceptional standard of care and consideration given to treat residents as individuals in their own right. A well-maintained home with a lovely atmosphere where family are included in all aspects of their loved one's care. It is never easy to make a decision to put your much-loved family member in care. However, this was made easier with the high standards of care, respect and genuine affection that is demonstrated at all times.
My mother was made so welcome when she moved into Springfield Lodge in March 2020. It is a lovely place with a lovely atmosphere. They do lots of different activities to stimulate and entertain the residents and maintain strong links/involvement with the local community. During the lockdown, they made sure we were kept up to date on how Mum was and what was happening. The staff are wonderful. Everyone I have been in contact with is professional, very friendly, approachable and so caring. I believe it is the caring nature and dedication of the staff that makes the home such a special place.
It is a very upsetting experience to have to seek a care home for your loved one, but we are extremely happy and relieved to know that our Mam is so well looked after, safe, loved and cared for at Springfield Lodge. Staff are very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and most importantly, they genuinely care for all their residents. Staff are very informative about any changes to care plans, medications and general health of Mam and always happy to discuss. The home has superb facilities, including its own hair and beauty rooms, a minibus, excellent daily activities team (which we get to see on their Facebook page... a blessing during Covid to see your loved ones are happy and being entertained)! There is a kitchen with chefs who supply excellent healthy food. The home is always kept fresh and clean, as are the residents. I highly recommend Springfield Lodge.
The care that Mum has received at Springfield has been wonderful. The staff are caring and skilled, and they do everything in their power to make the residents comfortable and settled. They have daily recreation activities, which are varied and fun. Mum loves the creative and cooking activities and clearly has a lot of fun. The Facebook page means that the family can watch some activities as they happen (I am always envious when they have their parties, with a lot of singing and dancing). Although I am out of the UK and unable to visit, I have regular Skype calls with Mum, and the staff regularly update me on how she is doing. Since Mum moved in, I have noticed a definite improvement in her health and her interaction with other people. I am so grateful to the staff for the excellent care Mum gets in this difficult time.
It is never an easy decision to move a loved one into a care home with many concerns to take into consideration. We chose Springfield Lodge after speaking with the manager and visiting the home. Throughout the process, our queries were answered professionally and sensitively. Mam moved into Springfield in April 2021 and was able to take many of her own things in order to create a familiar environment. All staff have shown a high level of care, compassion and respect both to Mam and to us, as well as having a sense of humour. Staff take time to chat and keep us up to date on our visits. Staff work tirelessly to provide varied activities for the residents, and the family and friends Facebook group is a valued resource. It is reassuring to note that staff and visitors continue to follow strict ‘Covid’ health and safety procedures.
The staff at Springfield Lodge are some of the best there is. The residents are well looked after in all aspects of their care. The staff understand all of the residents and are in tune with their needs and personalities. There are regular activities and plenty of people encouragement for the residents to engage and socialise. This is consistent with care given to my mother-in-law 3-years ago and hasn’t changed.
