My sister and I are of the opinion that this home is managed by an extremely high standard of care and attention to detail. Form the managed to the cleaners it is an excellent home for our dad and the staff are so approachable and relay information as necessary. We can't praise them high enough. Dad appears to have settled in well, looks happy and cheerful as he's well cared for and gives us peace of mind.
Six years ago when we were looking for a suitable care home for our mother, Wilton House felt the right one and has proved to be so. She has been well cared for and feels safe and secure. The staff have coped so well, especially in recent months as they always do, and we are really grateful for everything they do.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful, they were all very pleasant, professional and welcoming.
My husband, who is relatively young compared to a lot of residents in Wilton House, had to go into respite care for 3/4 weeks as we were having building work done at home to meet his needs after he became a wheelchair user on a more or less permanent basis. Overall the staff, management, food and cleanliness were excellent and he was very well looked after. The only quibble we had was the rooms are very dark but it is an old building.
Mum went in for 2 weeks respite. She was reluctant to stay. The staff were lovely with her. She was well looked after and ended up accepting the stay.
Very friendly care staff always most helpful to mam to make her stay like her own home. The chefs, laundry staff, cleaning staff are always helpful and pleasant and do their best to please. Mam's family can't thank everyone enough at Wilton House Care Home. The manager and all the staff for such wonderful care and love to our mother over eight years and to her end of life at the home. Also made all the family and friends most welcome.
The manager of this home is always ready to talk to us regarding our uncle. This attitude clearly influences the rest of the staff who all seem friendly, kind and helpful. Our relative is not the easiest or affable of people to deal with and yet patience and tolerance is always shown towards him. The only criticisms we would have is the overriding odour typical of many care homes.
Mother feels secure and there is always help at hand. Staff are friendly and she is well looked after.

We were worried about choosing a care home, but this home is the best in the area. They not only looked after my mother but all of us as a family. The staff are amazing and very caring.
The staff and management have unending patience with the residents and they take time to listen to the residents and try to help in any way. They work extremely hard (from the cleaners to management) but never show signs of frustration or annoyance. The food is excellent and special dietary requirements are catered for, including individual resident's wishes.
Wilton House has excellent management, very approachable and willing to listen to ideas and act on them for the benefit of staff and residents. All staff interact well with residents and always have time for relatives. I know I can relax knowing my Aunt is well cared for and looked after.

My wife was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2015 and following a spell in the hospital with a broken hip, she was unable to return home. I had to find a suitable care home in the Darlington area, so I decided on Wilton House based on the discussions with the management and the friendly atmosphere I felt existed in the home. One year on, I can say that my impressions have been demonstrated to be a reality. The stages of dementia can be challenging and the approach by staff to find a medication which would calm my wife's anxiety and enable her to engage with family and friends was handled very professionally.
