The staff at Hillside have been absolutely immense all the way through my aunt's stay, my aunt was particularly challenging as she had very poor sight and hearing, however they took all this in their stride and made her as comfortable as possible. Sadly, my aunt passed away on the 1st October and again your staff were fantastic, we got a call on Friday the 27th September advising us that the doctor has said that he felt my aunt was not doing well and he considered it to be end of life, we called at the care home and my wife and daughter spent the night with her. Your staff kindly made my wife and daughter cups of tea and actually made a sandwich for them. They treated my aunt with the upmost respect and looked after us when we were with my aunt for her last days. We cannot praise your staff enough and please pass on our most sincere gratitude to everyone at the care home.

5 plus the care and help I am receiving is excellent. The care staff and nurses are so very good and professional to me.

Our mother was here as a temporary NHS patient. My sisters and I were all impressed with the level of care, the friendly and welcoming staff and the care home environment as a whole. Our mother was very comfortable here.

I have been here since Feb 2024, it is the most wonderful place in every way. It may be that I will have to live here for the rest of my life. The whole staff team is so caring.

I have been a resident at Hillside Lodge for 2 weeks. I have enjoyed my stay here very much. The rooms are very clean and tidy. All the staff have been very kind and helpful. Also, the food is excellent and the management very helpful.

Brilliant and fabulous. First time in a long time that my Mum is safe and happy. The staff are great and very helpful. The facilities are brilliant.

My Mother was admitted for respite care while my Father was in palliative care. She had been in hospital and needed care that could not be provided at home. The staff were absolutely magnificent in their response in providing this, from arranging her transportation from the hospital to Berwick and then to the care that was provided for her recovery meaning that she could return home.

My mother has been a resident for a couple of months in that time there has been a marked improvement in her physical and emotional health, confidence and well-being. It is a joy to know that she is safe and looked after by a very professional caring and compassionate team of staff in all roles. Care extends to the family too as we are always made welcome and it is obvious that all staff know and understand my mother well and are interested in her as a person. At this time of change in both of our lives, I consider myself fortunate that my mother could not be in better hands.

The management and all the staff at Hillside Lodge are amazing. They are always on hand to answer any questions I have regarding my mum's care. The place is spotlessly clean and my mum's room is lovely. She enjoys the food and joins in the activities. She has made friends in the home and is happy and comfortable. At 91 what more could you ask for?

Lovely staff, with great facilities. Looked after Mum with great care and respect and came to feel more like family. Extremely happy to recommend Hillside Lodge to anyone as they always go above and beyond.

There are some lovely decent care staff working here. They are kind and caring and that counts for a lot. That’s the best that can be said about this place. I’m going to focus on the food. It’s appalling. Meat is almost always cheap pork. Beef or lamb is rare and chicken is seemingly banned. Most days the veg is mash and swede. Forget about fresh broccoli, cauliflower, tender stem, green beans or asparagus, even cabbage is a rare treat. Evening meals are always heavily processed sugary economy children’s meals. Think Spam or tinned spaghetti followed by tinned fruit salad and watery jelly. Don’t believe the promotional glossy pictures and don’t fall for the company platitudes about the care given to nutritional and balanced meals. There is never anything special, such as a decent bit of cheese, maybe avocado in the salad or a decent bread roll. This is the cheapest possible food available. It’s the stuff of the workhouse and this company should be ashamed of themselves.

Mum came in for respite care after a stay in hospital. Her experience has been extremely positive. She has really enjoyed her stay and loved making new friends and joining in all activities. The staff have been lovely, very kind and caring. She has gained her confidence back to her cheerful, confident self. I want to say a huge heartfelt thank you.

I have been coming to Hillside Lodge for just over one year, a very pleasant experience during a difficult time in my friend's life. In the final hours and after, would like to commend the night staff for the dignity, respect and love shown to my friend. May you be heartened in your specialist care. Much appreciated.

My husband has been in care since October 2022 to which he is very pleased with his care, the staff and management are very friendly and caring, I am so pleased he has settled in so well, I meet him out the home at times for coffee or lunch which is very nice for us both.

The care my mother received from the staff at Hillside Lodge was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. They were caring and compassionate at all times. My mother was made as comfortable as possible right up until she died on 22/02/23. We as a family appreciate the help and support received from the home.

My dad means everything to me and us as a family. It's very difficult to pass that level of care to someone else. However, since he has been a resident at Hillside my dad has improved, he looks clean and fresh and I know he likes the staff, he doesn't tell me that, I just feel it, by the way, he shouts out to them and has banter with them. It's good for us to know he is in safe hands and well-fed. What more can you ask?
