View Full Details of Lowgate Nursing HomeThe manager, administrative staff, cooks and events organiser all disappeared at the same time with no explanation forthcoming. No point of contact as before when the manager was available and admin staff for payments etc. Atmosphere strained. I have put 'Good' for management since removed and no replacement. Prior to this, management was highly satisfactory, important things like maintaining hearing aids and ensuring residents are able to communicate with visitors and staff neglected. Food, especially tea time, poor e.g. 'Rehashed' soup and burnt eggy bread/French toast.
My mother has now been at Lowgate Nurisng Home now for 2 and a half years. I cannot find any complaints with Mam's care, she is happy and content. All the staff are so professional, always there to assist if Mam needs anything, the management is second to none. I am always kept up to date on Mam's care package. My mother is in the best place, I can rest knowing that she is safe and being well looked after. I have full admiration for all that work at Lowgate Nursing Home in Hexham Northumberland.
Lowgate Care Home has a fabulous team of staff headed by an amazing manager, the compassion and energy she puts into her position resonate through her entire team, who are all dedicated to giving the best care to every resident. From the moment you enter the care home, you are greeted by the kind faces of the manager and staff who ensure you are directed to where you need to go. One of the staff members ensures that there is always daily entertainment from pony and pet visits, bingo, board games to singers and always puts a smile on all the resident's faces throughout the day. My mum has received the best care since going in for respite in January with Dementia, she now is permanent and we are so grateful that Mum has been fortunate to be able to stay local for her friends and family to be able to visit her. Happy staff, happy residents, top job to all!
My husband was a resident in Lowgate Nursing Home suffering from Parkinson's disease. He died on the 22nd of March 2024. For the whole of his time there he could not have been cared for better. The kindness both to him and me was wonderful and very comforting. Every single member of staff could not have been kinder or more caring.
My dad was at Lowgate for respite care. He was very well looked after, treated with respect and dignity. He loved the fact that it was all home-cooked food with a variety of choices. Lowgate really helped my dad get back to being fit and healthy. The care that was given was exceptional. Thanks Manager and the whole Lowgate team for taking good care of him.
The care and compassion shown at Lowgate are second to none. All the staff were marvellous and couldn't do enough for my mother. Staff also made my daughter and me so welcome and always made time during their busy schedule to come and have a chat with us. They were always very happy to answer any questions we had. This care home brought my mother alive after being very subdued for years. We saw a completely new side to her, which brought us great comfort. I cannot thank all staff enough for their dedication, patience and superb care.
Caring, professional and competent. My wife required palliative care which was delivered with unfailing kindness, compassion and understanding, ensuring she was comfortable and pain-free. I was always warmly welcomed and kept informed. The manager and her whole team put patient's needs first.
Always a pleasant reception from the staff and am kept informed of all things regarding my wife.
My father is 94 and he and I both agree that we have nothing but 100% praise for the caring, professional and thoughtful way in which Lowgate Care Home is operated. The Care Home Manager and her team do a sterling job and they went out of their way to assist my father who was a resident there for over 4 months in 2023.
Overall I felt as though I had joined a big happy family.
The attention my husband received was so caring, making his life there very comfortable. All staff were treating my husband with great respect under what must be sometimes difficult circumstances. We enjoyed the garden on a lovely day and joined in the entertainment when we would. I was always kept informed of everything regarding my husband. My husband is deceased, but I am still welcome when I pop in now and again.
My mum was in Lowgate for a large portion of 2022, following her decline with dementia. I cannot praise Lowgate Nursing Home staff and management enough for their wonderful and caring approach to their residents. Mum was treated with kindness, dignity, and love, and was made to feel part of the community. The staff here work tirelessly to make their residents feel at home; to promote smiles and laughs; to make everyone feel safe, and to give them as good a quality of life as is possible. They regularly have visits from entertainers, puppets, alpacas, dogs, (you name it!), all sundry ways of putting a smile on people's faces, and the staff's commitment to their jobs is unwavering. This is all overseen by a caring, hardworking manager, who gives the job her absolute best. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lowgate as a home for someone's loved ones - this is a special place!
Although my aunt's stay was very short, we received immense care and kindness and a great feeling of coming home. I will always be very grateful to the Manager and to all of the staff for the compassion and love I felt at the end and knowing my aunt slept peacefully away in such a lovely atmosphere brings comfort...thank you
My mother came to Lowgate Nursing Home on 26th March 2021 and stayed with you until her death on the 8th of April 2023. During that time, she suffered from vascular dementia and increasing frailty which, with a stroke a few months ago, rendered her unable to walk. Throughout this time, she was treated with great care, kindness and dignity by the Lowgate team. I always found them ready to help connect my mother and me for calls and willing to stay with her while we talked as she did require assistance. My mother particularly enjoyed the various activities laid on at the home. I am so very grateful!
The whole family appreciate the amazing team and the care they provide for Dad. Nothing is ever a bother to them. They go above and beyond to help, including the busy caretaker. Lowgate gives us such peace of mind, which is priceless.
My mum has been at Lowgate Nursing Home for eight years and the care and support she has been and is still being given is brilliant. The staff know her so well and care so much about her. The activities over the years have been varied and great. She has particularly enjoyed the music events. The food is good. The facilities and care are excellent. As my mum’s condition has caused her to deteriorate over the years, the care has adapted accordingly. The empathy shown by the staff to me and my family is so appreciated as well. The manager and staff were excellent through the covid lockdowns and did what they could to keep our relatives safe. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.
I am very grateful that Lowgate Nursing Home was the place that supported my grandparents and me in their last year. They provided continuous support even through all the challenges of Covid which they also dealt with extremely well. The staff took the time to get to know my grandparents individually and learnt how best to support them, their likes and dislikes. If my grandparents or I had any queries the staff were always approachable. During the end stages of life, they went over and beyond to allow me the time to be with my grandma. Unfortunately, I was in a different country when my grandad passed away but I couldn't have asked for better communication and support. The care that was provided during this time was with dignity and kindness. I will always be grateful for each staff member's support that they gave to my grandparents and myself. Thank you.
Although Mum has only been at Lowgate Nursing Home for five-six weeks, from the outset the manager and the team have been amazingly supportive and caring. Nothing has been too much trouble, including my frequent checks and anxieties about isolation, care and being trapped in her room - with the carer, nurse and the manager's teams support, Mum survived norovirus and Covid outbreaks and, after a long, traumatic journey through hospital and Lowgate, she was enabled to move home this week. It's early days but the care and ongoing support from the Lowgate Nursing Home communication continue from afar and is valued highly by our family. Thank you.
During the last two very difficult years of Covid, the staff have been unnervingly patient, pleasant, caring and helpful. We have always been promptly informed of any change in condition. The use of Facebook and Zoom has helped to keep in touch with our relative as she is able.
My husband has been in Lowgate and settled in well. He has complex medical needs, more than adequately dealt with by the nursing staff and carers. As a family, we are so appreciative of the care and attention given to him at a very difficult time for all of us. The staff know the dietary requirements, likes, and dislikes of their residents. We have been informed and included in any decisions or incidents. Thank you to all of you for your kindness, caring and compassion.
