View Full Details of Hafan y Waun (Care Homes for Adults)Mr brother is content well cared for and happy.
My mother resided at Hafan Y Waun for three and a half years until her death in September. During that time, she was looked after by caring, considerate staff 24-hours a day, which was a great comfort to me. Throughout the outbreak of the Coronavirus, when visiting was suspended, I was kept informed of my mother's health. This, unfortunately, coincided with her end of life care. However, the home was kind and arrangements were made for me to be with her for the last days of her life, for which I will be eternally grateful. I would not hesitate in recommending the home to anyone considering putting a loved one into care. The professionalism and compassion shown by everyone over the years were exemplary.
Due to the ongoing situation with COVID, I feel it is difficult to complete a full review. The current restrictions mean I am yet to visit my husband in his new home/bedroom. However, I am reassured during daily family contact with him that he is happy and well cared for. For this, I am extremely grateful.
Our visit with Mam was very moving as we hadn't seen her since 28th February. I call most days, some days she is funny and others get upset. The home is amazing and the carers, nothing is too much trouble for them, always on the go. We had our visit outside in the gazebos they set up and made the inside lovely - it was a pleasure to visit. Mam seems happy now so that makes us happy and more relaxed, so well done to all that work there - you're amazing.
My mother has been at Hafan y Waun for two years, in which time, Mum has begun to live life again with people of her own age to mix and speak with. Mum is well cared for. Whenever one of the family visits, she looks clean and tidy with clothes changed every day. It is heartening to hear Mum joins in with activities, something she was missing before going into Hafan y Waun. All staff are caring and sympathetic to clients. An extremely well run home. Thanks for helping Mum!
Detailed email about Covid-19 visits, very clear faultless temperature check and instruction on putting on masks. Lovely structures in the garden to shelter from wind/rain and lots of decorative material in a fruit bowl and bunting brightly displayed, balloons and vivid pictures place on tables and tea and biscuits provided to residents.
Overall am quite satisfied with the care provided along with the setting, but on occasions have had a concern over lack of communication in relation to my father's welfare and care. Most recently, a visit by his GP, which I was unaware of until the GP rang me to discuss follow-up treatment/investigation.
Very satisfied with the service. They have always been friendly and caring for my mum. Communication is excellent. Although this is the only care home I've had contact with so have little to compare it with, I am completely happy.
I feel so lucky that my husband is able to stay at Hafan y Waun. He is well looked after and always looks clean and tidy. All the staff are amazing they not only look after my husband but the give me lots of support, it’s like being part of a big family. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hafan y Waun.
My mother, suffering from dementia lived here for the last 6-months of her life. During this time, she was happy and contented. She particularly enjoyed joining in with the various activities and religious services arranged by the home. The care she received was exemplary, and I cannot praise enough the dedication and the compassion shown by the staff who cared for her, especially under the challenging times of Covid-19. Our family is comforted by the knowledge that she was in the best possible hands in the last months of her life and are truly grateful to all the staff.
I was greeted by the care manager, who showed me the facilities and private en-suite room. At once, I felt the warmth of care and energy, of hope for my father's future. When my father arrived he was welcomed by the team who will take care of his welfare. I was greeted by the management team who will keep me updated with my father's development, and were happy to meet my needs; for his well being. Thank you.
My father moved into Hafan Y Waun in October 2019. On day one I accompanied dad. We were met by two very caring care staff who accompanied us to the first floor. They suggested dad had a cup of tea in the lounge with other residents and staff while they unpacked and inventoried all his clothes and put them away, and I arranged his personal possessions around the room. The home was happy for him to bring whatever furniture he wanted, but we chose to use theirs. We brought his own blanket, cushions etc to personalise the room. All of the bedrooms are very spacious, with "hospital" beds that raise and big en-suite wet rooms. Dad's room had a lovely view across the hills. I visited dad every day of his short time in Hafan Y Waun until he died suddenly on 17th November. I found the home to be always a very warm, positive, happy and caring place. The food was excellent. The staff were kind and thoughtful and treated dad with dignity and respect. I think it is a marvellous care home.
It is not easy visiting your loved one in a care home setting. I find Hafan y Waun to be able to replicate a home from home atmosphere. I am made to feel very welcome on my visits, and I am happy to sit and enjoy a cup of tea, without feeling that I can't wait to leave! The staff are very friendly, and the residents are happy. Although it is early days for my partner, he seems to have settled in okay. The is in a lovely setting, and the food is good also.
I have been impressed with the high standard of cleanliness, decor and amenities of the premises. The layout and organisation are well designed for residents needs. I am also highly delighted with the care provided by all team members who take the time to listen and follow through on any needed actions. From day one, every effort has been made to help my mother and our family, feel part of the Hafan y Waun community. Much appreciated!
As a resident with dementia is unable to give his opinion, so as his partner, I can say from day one (which was very traumatic) the management and staff were excellent, very caring and considerate to both my husband and myself. He has settled in rather well, and the staff have a good rapport with him. I myself, find the staff very friendly and have patience in abundance, so very caring, and we are so grateful to them, for being there.
From my experience, the care provided to my mother has been excellent. The staff are always very pleasant and attentive. My mother enjoys the food provided and is always very complimentary of the staff.
Excellent purpose-built care home with beautiful, spacious en-suite bedrooms, light and tastefully decorated communal areas and a lovely, safe garden. Very, very clean at all times. Good variety of activities every week and residents benefit greatly from support from the chaplain, volunteer, activity co-ordinators and visiting volunteers/groups. Music therapy is a great bonus as is the hairdressing salon. Staff at all levels are very friendly, approachable and many staff go out of their way to help my mother who has both cognitive and sight issues and suffers terribly from anxiety. There is always a warm welcome for us as a family when we visit and we very much appreciate the genuine concern and support from staff on more difficult days. A very happy and caring environment. Thank you very much.
It is a very clean home, my gran is very happy there. I'm unsure if its good value as I don't pay for the care. The food is good I've joined my gran for lunch. I appreciated the staff giving us a separate room to eat in.
Exceptionally kind and caring staff. Rooms fit for purpose, well decorated, fresh and clean. Lovely safe, secure gardens with level paths. Excellent food and plenty of it. My mother is very confused but is happy there and feels more independent than when she was living with us. Her health and mobility have improved and she enjoys having company whenever she wants to. The home very much has a "family atmosphere".
My mother has been living in Hafan y Waun for just over 2 months now and she has blossomed under the loving care of the staff - they are simply wonderful! With their encouragement, my mother has become much more active and engaged with life than she was able to be when she was living with us at home. There is a wide range of activities which residents are able to join in if they wish to and a beautiful, secure garden for those who just want to stretch their legs or do a bit of gardening. The rooms are bright, cheerful and nicely furnished. My husband and I always feel welcome when we come to visit my mother and nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. We are so grateful that my mother is comfortable, happy, healthy and safe and living in a lovely place which she now considers home. When MHA says their care is ‘person-centred’ they really mean it – residents are treated with respect and as the individuals they are. Thank you all from the heart.
