View Full Details of Abergarw Manor Care HomeMy husband was admitted to Abergarw after a long stay in hospital and I was apprehensive as to whether he would settle. Within days, however, the staff, who chose to go out of their way to speak to him and make a fuss of him, were being rewarded with a smile and they were already teasing out the personality behind the twinkle in his eyes. The nursing staff were second to none, dealing promptly and efficiently with the ailments he suffered during his 8 week stay and communicated well with me throughout. Abergarw certainly has a high number of "stars" right across the organisation eg in front line care, entertainment, cleaning, admin, catering. His birthday there (sadly his last) was actually his best in years! Naturally there were teething problems, mainly around my husband's diet, but these were resolved quickly and efficiently. My only recommendation if starting a new relationship with "any" Home is to arrange an early meeting to agree on mutually acceptable communication routes.
First admitted from the hospital. Communication was difficult at first, every effort was made by staff to support and understand the needs of partner. Contact from staff when incidents happened and relevant procedures made - GP etc. Ambulance contacted and information given.
The care given to the residents is first-class. The food is good and medical care is very good. I would prefer to have a singing group singing songs from the shows or music more in keeping with the ages of the residents. Too many loud singers singing Elivs and his kind of music, more soothing ballads by a trio or small choir would be more acceptable. A small harmony group around Christmas would be appreciated by all and not too loud.
My experience of the staff at this residence is that everyone is very professional and kind. The Abergarw Manor Care Home is always spotless.
Mum was there from 11th July to the 1st August 2024, but once my mum was bedbound that was another thing. The first day I went to my mum she was hanging out of bed. My husband called a nurse, and she told me that I should have not put her back to bed. I explained that I had over 30 years experience. She said that didn't matter, no way I was going to leave my mum hanging out of bed. The second day I called to see Mum she was dripping in urine, called a nurse, and this is what she said, "I have no one to change", so I said I will do it myself. The next time I called in to see her and the staff walked past my mother's room, no attempt to go in and see her. I opened the door, the curtains were shut, light on and window shut. The smell was disgusting so I went to see the manager and the response was it will not happen again. Well the next day she was the same as the day before, back to the manager. I waited for them to change her. The only day that my mum was clean and tidy was the day she died.
The home is clean and tidy. And staff are friendly and very helpful and I know my mother is in safe hands if there is anything wrong they will contact me and I haven't seen her so contented and relaxed for a long time.
The care given to my mother was outstanding! The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. I couldn't recommend them more highly. My mum was a resident for over a year and was treated with dignity and respect throughout. When she passed the staff were incredibly supportive with myself and my family.
I am so pleased with the choice for my dad. He has settled so well. I have no fault with the home it is warm and welcoming. The staff all from managers to care staff are incredible. Thank you for caring for my dad.
Every member if staff are caring, thoughtful and considerate, not only to residents but to all visitors. The home has been undergoing some renovations which has been difficult but the carers, they work tirelessly to ensure every need is met. The home is beautiful, run with pride and dignity, and everyone is approachable. My dad has been here for 6 months and I have no concerns for his welfare or safety, this is due to impeccable efficiency, compassion and above all trust.
I cannot find any faults with Abergarw Manor Care Home. Abergarw Manor Care Home has given me advice on my brother's condition. Also, the staff have been faultless and very understanding.
Mum went into Abergarw Manor Care Home in June of 2023. From day one the staff were caring, kind, considerate and treated Mum as if she was the only person in the world. Mum's room, her clothing and her personal care were exceptional and she was always clean and well dressed. The whole home was always spotless and the staff friendly and smiling. We were frequently offered tea/coffee when visiting and it felt more like going to Mum's home rather than just somewhere she was staying. Staff also asked how we, as a family were - something that made a huge difference, especially in the last weeks of her life. We lost Mum in August 2023 and even during those last days, Mum was kept comfortable and clean and was treated with dignity and respect. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Abergarw Manor for looking after us and Mum. Thank you.
