View Full Details of Glain HouseI would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone. It has a very high standard of care and is easily accessible for anyone using public transport. Our mum was admitted there in the spring of 2024. Prior to that she spent just over a month in a nursing home which we were not at all happy with, because it did not provide the specific care she needed as a person with dementia, although the staff were aware of her condition. When we moved her to Glain House it was a great relief to us. The room was lovely and bright, with a well-equipped en-suite bathroom. She perked up considerably after the move, and was much more communicative, although she was very frail. She was very well cared for; all the staff were very friendly and professional, and attentive to her needs. They did all they could to make her comfortable for the last few months of her life, and for that we are deeply grateful.
It was a comfort to see my father in such a caring, sympathetic & gracious involvement, especially the compassion of the staff from the management & medical & carers. Their interaction with those in need & their thoughtfulness for the residents and those who visit loved ones. It has become reassuring & a sense of burdens being lifted to know that dad is looked after in this way. The room also was so impressive, spacious & clean.
We chose Glain House after visiting many homes in Cardiff because it was light and airy, the corridors and the rooms were big, it did not feel like a hospital and there was an outside space. We also liked the living space which was a very large area of a combined living room and dining area. My mum also has a sister there and was recommended by her relatives. My father stayed there for nine months before he passed away in the early days of 2025. The staff were very sensitive and helpful during this time. My Mum enjoyed joining in the activities during visits to my father. Visiting family and friends are made very welcome and are encouraged to visit as often as possible. The visiting times are not restricted I would quite often arrive at the home at 8:30 in the evening. The staff were helpful and professional, they would do anything they could to help me and my Mum.
My father is being cared for by some wonderful people. They are very kind and they always have a smile when I visit, they go out of their way to make their patients happy and at home. But I am reviewing because they work so very hard on what seems like low staffing. Caron Group need to look after their staff and be aware of their needs as if these members of staff give up through working too hard with no appreciation from Caron Group they won't have a care home to profit off any longer. Thank you to the staff. Any lack of stars is directed at not enough staff to help existing staff have a better day.
Since my wife has been at Glain House she has come on great. She is a different woman. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff or management.
Mum has been a resident for just over a month now. In that time her health and well-being have improved dramatically. She has a new lease of life and that's down to the excellent care and interactions with all at Glain House.
My mum was discharged from hospital as an "end of life" patient with a burst appendix but having resided in Glain House since July 2023, she has improved no end but sadly her quality of life isn't great she is doubly incontinent, no longer walks and has dementia. The staff are very patient and kind and I am very happy to know she is in their very capable hands!
My husband was moved to Glain House a few weeks ago and was received with dignity and respect. His needs were catered for straight away in a very easy and quiet manner. I have found in all my dealings with all the staff at Glain House that they are professional, caring, friendly and very good at their jobs. I felt that my husband would be safe and secure in his new home!
My mum-in-law was a resident at the care home. Every staff member was kind and caring and made her stay at Gain House so happy for her. The care home is clean and tidy at all times. l would recommend this home to anyone who wants their loved one to have the best quality care; it's just one big family who welcomes you straight away. Thank you, Gain House.
Fabulous, it has given myself peace of mind every time I come to visit Dad. He has settled in really well. Staff are friendly and are always ready to help. As for the care home - excellent in every way and has given me and my family peace of mind knowing he is in good hands.
Couldn't recommend Glain House enough. My mum was only there for a few months before she sadly passed away. But the love and care my mum, and us family members receive was out of the world. Every staff member we made contact was was brilliant, helpful and very friendly. Nothing was ever too much. It's such a difficult time when you need to find a care home for somebody you love dearly, but Glain House made it so easy for us. From our first visit, we knew it's where we wanted Mum to be looked after. And they all looked after my mum so well. Just seeing how staff were with other residents whilst we visited knew we had made the right decision. We will never be able to thank the staff at Glain House enough!
Early days for my dad in the newly refurbished 3rd floor at Glain House, but I am highly impressed. I cannot overstate the care, skill and enthusiasm that every staff member brings to their role. In his first five days there, the team transformed Dad's quality of life for the better, not least by rapidly rebuilding his confidence to walk. More recently, they handled a small medical incident with tact and common sense. Management are highly approachable and Glain House co-ordination with hospital and GP visits has worked perfectly. The food is good, we join Dad for meals. Cleanliness is very high. It is always easy to visit, and phoning him to chat is straightforward, outside busy times. The city centre location is ideal for bus/train visitors (free parking also available), and there are no issues with noise or safety. It also makes local excursions easy, such as the regular trips offered for breakfast at a nearby pub.
My father moved into the home 6 months ago - I have nothing but praise for all the staff and management. I feel that the home is very transparent, nothing is too much trouble and staff appear to be well trained.
Fantastic staff, hard working and very friendly. The nursing home is spotless and very spacious. You can visit without appointment and always a cheery welcome. My father always looks clean and well cared for.
All staff are wonderful, they truly care for my mum and treat her with dignity. The facilities are comfortable and always kept clean. Food is tailored to my mother's needs and is always of a good standard. My mother enjoys the group activities and feels very at home here.
A very clean and tidy care home. My dad is kept safe and well cared for. The staff are very kind and interact well with my dad, also, on my visits I have seen many different activities going on. I would highly recommend Glain House.
The home is well run. It is clean and tidy, with staff coming around tidying the corridors and rooms. The staff are extremely friendly and caring towards their patients. There are options to keep patients involved with a series of activities, as well as a TV room and courtyard when the weather is good. As well as regular meals, staff come around with biscuits, fruit and drinks.
My husband had to be moved into the home as I was extremely ill and unable to care for him. The staff and management have been fantastic with his care and the support I've been given has been brilliant. My husband is unable to talk and the carers and nurses have tremendous patience in caring for him. They have activities in the morning and last week the weather was so good that all the residents were taken out in the courtyard for their lunch. When I ring they always take the phone to my husband just so he can hear my voice. I'm just so glad my husband is in a home where he's happy and the care he receives is fantastic.
During our Mother's stay at Glain House we have nothing but praise for the staff both cared for her and welcomed her at every opportunity. Staff are kind, caring and considerate. What also touched us as a family is when our Mother passed away she was treated with dignity and staff also went out of their way to pay their own respects. We have nothing but high praise for staff and management at Glain House.
This home is always a pleasant place to visit. Staff all seem, to me, to be alert and caring and more importantly very happy in their work. I visit weekly and can say that I have never witnessed any malpractice by any of the staff or management. It just seems to be a homely place for the residents. They always try to keep up with current events to try to let the residents know the day of year, the year it is and the special occasion it represents, such as St Patrick's Day, July 4th, Coronations, Queen's Birthday, parties, BBQs etc. which is all good in my mind. That takes considerable energies and time for the staff to do, whilst still fulfilling their caring duties for residents. I hope they long succeed in the manner that this home is run.
