View Full Details of The Waverley Care CentreMy wife was accepted into The Waverley on the 16th of June 2024. Her dementia resulted in I was no longer able to care for her at home. At The Waverley her care is wonderful and she settled in and contented. I visit my wife mostly every day and the staff ensures her every need is met. The result is I am content that my wife is receiving the best care possible.
One of the hardest things in life was having to place Nan into a nursing home but seeing how fast she settled in was a great relief. Nan was loved by all staff who worked in the Waverley from carers, nurses cleaners, kitchen staff activities, maintenance and office staff she truly was in the best place. Even in the last stages of her life, all of the staff couldn't do enough for her and my family and we cannot thank you enough, you truly are the best.
My sister is cared for absolutely brilliantly. She can be difficult at times but they treat her with respect and know how to deal with her when she gets difficult.
On the whole we are very pleased with my husband's care. The care staff and care assistants are sensitive to his needs. The nurses always call the GP when needed. He is as comfortable as he can be here given his disabilities. One suggestion for in service training is to educate care assistants on the difference between dementia and severe stroke. My husband has a good measure of cognition though severely disabled in his 70s and has had a lot to come to terms with because his life was normal the day before it happened. The emotional trauma is difficult as is the paralysis.
A wonderful receptionist who knows me and greets me in a friendly manner. ALso well organised and nothing too much bother. Caring, well trained staff led by highly experience nurse manager, who is always available to listen and offer good advice.
My husband has Alzheimer's and Dementia, he is difficult, unpredictable and challenging. I was recommended The Waverley. I removed him from another home to be in The Waverley. The difference in care The Waverley is simply in a different class. My husband is always clean, the staff are plentiful, always watching the residents and at the first sign of distress or challenging behaviour, they are on hand. They intervene early, reassure him, distract him. He is settled and does not have unexplained bruising. Their wonderful entertainment staff keep residents active. I cannot praise them highly enough. Staff are plentiful, caring, friendly, professional, always on hand and I am always told about any issues (this was not the case in other homes). I feel I am listened to and supported, often in distressing situations. Other care homes may have fancy coffee cafes or pretty gardens but residents are never in them, here it is residents first, they have a nice coffee shop and nice gardens as well.
Dad was transferred to the Waverley Care Centre, the end of July 2023. After spending 10 weeks in hospital after a bad fall. Dad has two forms of dementia. The hardest thing I have ever done was admitting I could no longer provide the care he required and trusting strangers to look after him. The first weeks were so difficult for me as he took a while to settle/adjust. Moving forward to May 2024. Yes, Dad has deteriorated as we all know dementia is cruel. My dad is at the content stage of this dreadful disease. Thank you, falls short. The manager and her team (too many to name) have made the last few months and I hope many more. A total pleasure for Dad, nothing has ever been too much. Transparency all the way, always kept up to date 24/7. Collette be proud of your team; you all do an amazing job in exceedingly demanding situations. I will say thank you even though it does not fully represent my gratitude.
The Waverely Care Home already came highly recommended before we chose the home for my wife's mother. My mother-in-law had been a patient within the healthcare system during Covid- 19 pandemic. Her physical condition had deteriorated together with her mental health; which is a very complicated Alzheimer's presentation. All the staff have been exceptional, the care has been second to none. The terrible bed sores that were present in hospital were treated and have disappeared. The psychiatric care is very thorough, the staff have a very detailed knowledge of conditions beyond which I have experienced in the NHS, surprisingly. We have regular updates and if we wish to talk to someone about 'anything' we can. The activities for the patient are really good, they engage everyone, inclusivity is amazing. The daycare staff who look after and care for my mother-in-law, are so caring and loving, they really do care for every individual patient. They all are so compassionate and empathetic.
Mum was moved to the Waverley Care Centre on 17th March 2020 from the hospital as she had several bad falls in a matter of weeks. I had already been in discussion with Social Services about moving her to Scotland to be near myself and my family. I had been looking at care homes in Scotland for mum when Covid happened and she had to be moved from the hospital straight away. I then did not see my mother for about 8 months and only spoke to her on social media (which was a blessing) but it was obvious from the start that my mother was in a good place and was being well looked after. She was happy and always told me how lovely the staff were and how well she was being looked after. I was always kept informed about everything to do with her care and despite having Alzheimer's disease and other health problems which would have caused her pain seemed to thrive there. No words could ever express how thankful and grateful I am for the wonderful staff who work there.
Mum was moved to Waverly after being in the hospital for some time due to covid lockdown, mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011 but sadly the last three years really affected her badly lockdown in the hospital had a big effect on that, but when mum was transferred to the Waverly we quite often saw a happy smile on her face, the staff are all so caring just the small things like ensuring her clothes were matching, her hair brushed and even her nails painted showed us that the staff genuinely cared for her. Mum went from being a bag of bones to looking healthy where she was obviously helped to be fed, loosing a loved one to dementia is awful, but knowing they have caring people taking care of them really helps, so thank you guys we really are truly grateful.
Mum was a resident of The Waverley Care Centre for a year before passing away. Mum suffered from complex dementia and at times her behaviour could be challenging. All the staff treated Mum with respect and care during her time in The Waverley Care Centre. The nursing staff were always available to answer questions ensuring we were always kept updated on Mum’s health. It was a great comfort to the family that a very much loved mum, grandma and great-grandma was happy, comfortable, safe and loved. A heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff at The Waverley Care Centre for the excellent care and support Mum and the family experienced.
My father was admitted to The Waverley Care Centre in March 2022 following a several-month stay in hospital during the pandemic. We were very impressed with the warm welcome he and we, as his family, received. We felt reassured that he would be well looked after and all his needs for dementia would be met. We could not fault the care he received there until he sadly passed away in April 2023. They treated him with dignity and respect and all the staff knew his name. They made a huge effort to get to know him, his likes and dislikes, they welcomed us on every visit and made us feel very reassured at all times. We will be forever grateful for the compassion and care they showed towards my father in his time of need. It was such a distressing time for us, as a family, to see our loved one so unwell but the care, compassion and love given by the staff made it somewhat more bearable. We cannot recommend The Waverley Care Centre highly enough for all their care and support, above and beyond.
My father was admitted to The Waverley Care Centre in August 2022 following a period of time in hospital where he was really unhappy and treated poorly, suffering with Alzheimer's. Within days of being at the Waverley, his whole demeanour changed to that of being contented. Every member of staff from reception through to all the individual nurses - too many to mention - but each and every one of them have treated my dad with respect, care and love. Nothing is too much trouble and they all have so much patience and time that my dad and the other residents require. It is such a relief to us all, especially my mum who cared for my dad as long as she possibly could, knowing that he is so well cared for, we really can't find enough words to show our appreciation. Thank you.
We cannot fault the outstanding person-centred dementia-friendly care my mother-in-law received at the Waverley. The staff were so kind to her from the moment she was transferred from hospital. They maintained her dignity at all times, and truly cared for her, in particular, during her last days. After the isolation of the pandemic, it gives us great solace to know how much she was valued during her time there. We don't say this lightly - my husband and I have lots of experience in a variety of care settings through working in older adult mental health.
I really cannot praise the Waverley staff enough for ensuring, at extremely short notice, that they would be able to accommodate and provide the care needed for my mother. We were asked to compose a list of mum's likes, dislikes, family, early life etc, as this would obviously be helpful because Mum was in the latter stage of dementia. It was heartwarming to witness the staff 'seeing through dementia' and treating and talking to mum as being the person I once knew. All of the staff, cleaners included, called mum by her Christian name, and they chatted and explained what they were doing or what they would like to do, the continuous reassurance they gave to mum throughout any task was done with kindness, compassion, sensitivity and respect. The staff showed as much concern to the family as they did to mum, this made our emotional journey far easier to deal with in mum's final days. It was a great comfort knowing that mum was receiving the best care possible in her time of greatest need.
It is hard to put into words how i feel about the care Mum was given whilst a resident at The Waverley. The team that looked after Mum was always with care and understanding of her needs. The nature of mum's illness made her difficult and upsetting to be around however we were always impressed with the way in which her dignity was protected and how loving and respectful all of the staff were. Mum required 24 hour nursing care, as well as care and understanding for her dementia and the team, carried this out with Mum's needs being the priority. As well as looking after Mum they also made sure the family were also ok and during Mum's final hours they provided support and guided them through this hard and upsetting time, I know we as a family will always be grateful for this and cannot thank them enough.
My Mum moved from a residential home into The Waverley Care Centre in June 2022 after being assessed for dementia nursing care. The managers, nursing, care and activity staff have gone out of their way to make the transition smooth and my Mum has settled very well. They were very helpful in accommodating a piano for my Mum, who loves to play. Mum always looks clean and well dressed and is treated with kindness and dignity.
The care given to my mother at the Waverley care centre was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived until the moment she passed away peacefully in their care, I couldn’t have asked for more. Each and every member of staff, from management, reception staff, nursing staff and care workers, the care was totally personalised and encompassed not just care for my mother but also for myself as a sole carer. I cannot recommend the Waverley highly enough. It became a home, in every sense of the word, for both of us once I could no longer look after her at home due to the challenges of her dementia. I thank all at the Waverley for enabling the last years of my mother’s life to have been the best they possibly could have been.
