View Full Details of The Priory Nursing & Residential HomeThe Priory is a warm, comfortable and welcoming home for my partner, who is living with vascular dementia. Staff are generally very warm, kind and helpful and friendly. The general atmosphere is cheerful and upbeat. Housekeeping, maintenance and kitchen staff all do a great job in keeping the house and grounds looking good. My only concern is that perhaps there could be a bit more stimulus for residents. Activities are an hour am and pm, and are done by 2.30, leaving a very long pm/evening. A room has been newly furnished for activities so hopefully this will encourage widening the scope. If one's loved one has to be in a care establishment, then I would recommend The Priory.
My husband has been a resident of The Priory for a few weeks now but recently was taken very ill and had to go to hospital. The care and support he received on his return have been outstanding and reassuring for me and his family. Despite his severe illness, his relief at being back in the warm and familiar surroundings was palpable and the response to the staff was heart-warming. I cannot praise them or thank them enough. In addition, the outlook and surroundings of The Priory set as it is in the magnificent Wye Valley is also uplifting. Thank you all at The Priory for making this very difficult time a little easier.
We cannot say anything negative about The Priory care home. The staff are so helpful, caring and friendly and go the extra mile to help the residents settle in and as the wife of someone needing care that is so reassuring. The home has a cosy, lovely warm and comforting clean smell. The food is jolly good too, there are activities and a twice-monthly Holy Communion service provided by volunteers from the local churches. The chance to sing hymns and hear a super organist and choir mistress must not be missed. I heartily recommend a visit to see for yourself.
Mum has now been a resident at The Priory for just over 6 months. I couldn't have asked for a better settling-in process for my Mum. I anticipated a period of adjustment but within 24 hours Mum was settled After months of worrying about how she would cope with the move, she settled in beautifully. Every member of staff I have ever spoken to has been professional and caring. Many have gone above and beyond to accommodate Mum's needs. I feel at all levels they know my Mum and understand her. When Mum was unwell, I was told I could visit anytime, day or night, to reassure myself. This was a great comfort. Whenever I visited - day or night - Mum's needs were being met. She was calm and cared for. Regular doctor visits were organised to ensure everything was being done. Knowing Mum is cared for in such a caring and safe environment has taken a huge amount of pressure off my shoulders and has made a big difference to our relationship. I am now a daughter and not a carer.
The staff are very kind and helpful, and nothing is ever too much trouble. My mother isn't the easiest of characters, but the staff do very well to accommodate her requests. It's a well-run home, and the facilities are great. Also, it's set in a beautiful location!
Mum has settled in quite well, and I think is generally happy; however, she has spoken to me regarding one or two things that have upset her. Sometimes, she feels that on occasions she spends prolonged periods of time waiting to be taken to the toilet. She feels like she has to wait for a carer, we understand they are busy; however, this is causing quite an upset, especially if she soils herself. Unfortunately, she does seem to require the toilet more than usual; I understand this is because of certain tablets she takes. She likes to spend as much time as possible in the communal room, but if left alone is unable to reach the assistant button. These two minor points are quite important to her. But she does enjoy the entertainment that has now started.
The staff are friendly, approachable, and very hard working. They are ready to listen to any concerns and do their best to address them. There has been a greater focus on activities recently, together with visits from various musicians, which have helped to enrich the quality of daily life in the home. The beautiful grounds are wonderful for outdoor visits where appropriate.
My experience of The Priory Care Home is very good. I have power of attorney for my cousin who is a resident there and feel very happy she is being well cared for and all her needs are being met. The staff are always very obliging and make time for me to discuss any queries I have.
They are very caring and are looking after Mum. I can't fault them.
My mum is quite happy at The Priory Nursing & Residential Home. She has been well cared for in all aspects of care. Her room is clean and comfortable. The staff are all very caring. Food and drinks are freely available to her, comfortable lounge and TV room. All together very satisfactory.
My experience of the care home is very good. The staff are kind and helpful. It's a well-run home and very good facilities and my mum feels safe in her surroundings.
My mother has lived at The Priory for about seven months. She says that her room is very nice and she likes the food. The carers look after her very well. She likes the activities and is satisfied with what she calls home.
I'm very pleased with the care and attention my mother receives at the Priory care home.
I have been here for five months and I am treated well. I did not appreciate the cooking but understand the difficulties. Activities were pleasant but infrequent. The room is pleasant.
Unfortunately, my father's stay at The Priory was not as long as we would have wished. He passed away too soon to enjoy the wonderful location which I know he would have appreciated so much when spring and summer arrived. All the staff are amazing. The care and dignity he received was faultless. The support given to us as a family at a very difficult time really helped. Thank you to all the staff. You all do a wonderful job and you will not be forgotten.
Our Father was a resident at The Priory for a couple of years until he sadly passed away in November 2020. He wasn’t the easiest of residents but the staff always did their best to accommodate him and his antics. We are very grateful for the level of care provided throughout his stay and especially in his last few days during a really difficult time. We always felt really welcome at the home. The staff are super friendly and very professional. We all looked forward to coming to have coffee with Dad, especially while enjoying that view. Thanks again to all the staff.
My mother has been at the Priory since November 2020. She is still very independent for her age and really did not want to move into a home, but sadly, my family circumstances meant that she could no longer live with me. It has taken her a while to adjust but she does now enjoy being there. She does not mix with most of the residents nor join in the activities, but that is her choice. She does have one special friend that she spends most of her time with. She is very happy with most of the staff and generally, she is well looked after and treated with respect. She is not an easy lady, so they have done well to build a good relationship with her. Due to Covid restrictions, I have not been able to view the home so cannot comment personally.
My aunty had been in this home for over 4 years and if you were to ask her she would say it’s wonderful, my opinion is every time I go to visit the staff cannot do enough for us. The home is spotless, the food is excellent, they all go above and beyond to make sure my aunty is happy. I had to give her some bad news today and they came to make sure she was ok and will go and keep an eye on her. If she needs a hug I’m sure they would give her one, they have activity days which all the residents love. I can not find one bad thing to say about The Priory Nursing & Residential.
My lovely mother really enjoyed her last three years at The Priory. Like most folk of her generations, she was fiercely independent and did not want to go in care - the first few months were difficult for all concerned - but as an intelligent woman, she realised that the love and care given to her at The Priory was in her very best interest. She passed away at 102-years in dignity, comfort and contentment. Thank you to The Priory team.
My dad has been here for almost 3-years. The Priory has the most amazing views and outlook, but it’s inside that is the most important. Dad has been very happy here, and the staff are amazing and kind and work so hard. It’s been such a difficult year with the Covid restrictions, but they had no Covid related deaths and kept everyone very safe. Before the pandemic, it was good to be able to visit any time you wanted. With his dementia, Dad can be quite a character, and they know what he’s like and make allowances for him. He enjoys the food and will often say that the meals are very good. When he’s been poorly, I have been informed and kept up-to-date on his progress. Recently, the nurses have been particularly fantastic, and I would like to thank everyone for their kindness.
