View Full Details of Galashiels Nursing HomeI would like to give my heartfelt thanks to all the staff of the Nursing home who cared for my husband during his stay there. It must have been especially difficult for the nurses and carers during the last few weeks of his illness. My family and I would like them to know how much their care was appreciated. This meant so much to us at a very difficult time.
Mum has settled in grand at Galashiels Nursing Home, which is a relief as she was in her home in Newtown for 55 years. She is not the most sociable person but enjoys when I play dominoes with her. Staff try to encourage her to engage in activities but I'm not sure she takes up their offer. It's such a shame as I think she would benefit from the company and the change of scenery. All staff are very tentative and friendly towards Mum and myself any time I am visiting. Her room is compact but has everything she needs, it is clean and tidy and has some of her personal belongings which hopefully makes it more homely for her. Due to living with Parkinson's Disease, Mum's mobility is getting quite poor although staff, again, support and encourage her to get up and move when necessary. I can only thank all staff within the home for their care and support
My mother has been a resident of Galashiels Nursing Home for quite a number of years and during this time she has been well cared for. As her dementia has worsened she has needed round-the-clock care and support and her needs have been met. Over the years we have seen many improvements in the home. Most of the key staff at the very start are still working there, which is a positive sign and important for the residents and their families to build a rapport with the staff.
My mum went to stay at Galashiels Nursing Home in February 2024. She is unable to walk and uses a wheelchair. From the very first visit to the nursing home when I met the manager everyone seemed very happy and the staff were lovely. Mum is receiving the best care and is well looked after. Her needs are well met and visitors are treated well. The staff took time to chat with Mum and make sure she was happy and I knew that if there was a problem it would be sorted. I cannot praise the management, carers and all the other staff enough for everything they do. They go above and beyond, making Mum's life so much easier and she has fun with the other residents.
Mum's care has been excellent throughout her stay. My questions have always been answered regarding her care which I value a great deal. All staff are friendly and approachable. Mum has been in the home some considerable time and she seems very settled.
Some carers think they can treat residents poorly and then cover it up with an apology when a complaint is made. The carer was not even suspended after a complaint was made to the home. We expect our loved ones to receive the best care while a resident in this home and not be neglected by those who are supposed to be caring for them just because they have more than one person to care for!
My husband has received the very best of care, always treated with compassion, respect and great kindness. This is very important due to him having advanced dementia. Great thought is given to his care. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Also, the care of the patient's visitors is outstanding.
