View Full Details of Airthrey Care HomeMum went into Airthrey Care Home in Feb 2024 following a traumatic year in hospital, rehabilitation and assessment. She was very distressed throughout this time however could not go home due to her progressing medical issues. Our first choice was Airthrey and soon after arriving Mum reported feeling 'safe'. Staff and other residents soon felt like our family. We were always kept up to date with Mum's health and wellbeing and felt confident in the level of care and affection she was receiving. This was particularly important for our dad during this difficult time. When Mum became ill in December we were humbled by the care and concern shown to her and our family from all staff. Many visited Mum to say goodbye and comfort us before ending their shift. The practical and emotional support offered enabled us to stay with Mum for three days and nights until she died. Without exception, we are indebted to all members of staff and are forever thankful we chose Airthrey to care for our mum.
My aunt was fortunate enough to move into Airthrey Care Home during the summer of 2024. The home itself is a modern, well-planned building, with spacious en suite rooms. The staff keep it immaculate and well heated for the time of year. They spend a lot of time and effort ensuring that each resident is treated as an individual. They are caring and concerned and nothing is too much trouble. My aunt is quite a fussy eater and they will go to the trouble of making an individual meal for her that she enjoys. There is no shortage of cups of tea at any time of the day. They encourage her to be the best version of herself that she can be. She always looks smart and clean and her clothes are kept in immaculate condition. She's encouraged to liaise with other residents and now has a few friends that she enjoys spending time with. My aunt's move into this care home has been a hugely positive experience for her and has improved her quality of life a lot. I'd have no hesitation in recommending it.
My brother was a resident from 3rd July this year until he passed away recently. The attention he received was second to none. His wife died in June whilst they lived at home. This proved a great shock to him. The care staff, domestic staff and others made him feel so welcome. He was especially fond of the food and afternoon snacks were eagerly looked for, often baked on the premises. There is a warmth about the place, not just the heating, and its modern furnishings are so inviting. I would recommend Airthrey Care Home to anyone.
My dad was very isolated and lonely at home after losing my mum. His vascular dementia was getting worse. I wasn’t sleeping at night for worrying and he was phoning me at all hours during the night. Since he’s been in Airthrey Care Home, he now has company. He takes part in the activities. The staff couldn’t be more approachable. Dad has his down days but all in all, he’s happy. He says the food is lovely. He’s always immaculately dressed. His room is spotless. All of the staff are very caring towards Dad and I really appreciate that. He’s always been the best dad and I just want him treated with kindness, respect and empathy. I praise this home to all of my friends and family.
I am very happy with the care my dad has received over the four years he has been in Airthrey Care Home. The staff and management are all approachable and any problems have been dealt with promptly. They look after all my dad's needs.
My mum has dementia and has been a resident of Airthrey for just over a year now. The staff have been amazing; I cannot thank them enough. She has been treated with great patience and care and is in the best health that she has been in for years.
This is the first time my mum has been in a residential care setting; I found it all very daunting prior to my mum's admission. The manager was amazing, answering any queries that we had and really taking the time to talk us through everything. I was on holiday when my mum was admitted to Airthery Care Home and the manager mailed me daily which really put me at ease. From the onset, the care my mum has received has been brilliant, the care staff have been absolutely amazing, so dedicated and hard-working and it is lovely to see the relationship my mum is developing with them. I have observed that my mum has blossomed in her emotional well-being, she is genuinely so happy and content now. I am delighted also that my mum has gained weight since her admission, the meals are delicious and Mum really enjoys the variety and choice. The home is beautiful and my mum's room is lovely, it is all so homely and so well maintained. I couldn't ask for a better environment for my mum to be in.
I visit my wife six days a week 11 am to 2.30 pm every day except Thursdays. I have lunch with my wife and I feel it helps the both of us. It is no bother with the home and I am made very welcome. When I was ill, the staff would phone about my condition and keep me informed about my wife. Her own hairdresser comes in every two weeks and this is no problem. During her hairdressing I get the chance to visit other residents I know and it makes me feel very trusted. Above all, I couldn't ask for a better place for my wife to be.
Airthrey care is an excellent nursing home. My mum moved in February 23, the staff were very supportive of the adjustment period for my mum and our family, saying to treat it as 'her' home rather than a nursing home to keep things as good as possible for her, so visit (avoiding mealtimes) when we want and take her out (informing staff before we go) is never a problem. They have good continuity of lovely nursing staff with occasional bank staff. The admin team, activity co-ordinators, hairdresser, kitchen, laundry and cleaning staff are also very friendly and approachable despite being very busy, and a very special thank you to the maintenance man who recently decorated her room, she is so delighted with it. Any concerns or suggestions raised are quickly responded to. As someone who was anxious about 'nursing homes' have to say I do not worry about the care my mum receives in Airthrey Care Home.
My husband has been in Airthrey Care Home since October 2022. From the very start, all the staff from nurses, carers, cleaners, laundry etc have helped me and my husband through traumatic times with respect and consideration. Each member of staff always have a word for both of us and know us by name. The home is always clean and fresh and well looked after. So many individual members of staff are exceptional for their skill and loving care. My thanks to them all.
I am absolutely delighted with the care given to my wife in Airthrey Care Home, where she has been a resident for nearly four years. Every member of staff is very caring, helpful and professional - going above and beyond on many occasions. Would highly recommend Airthrey Care Home to anyone.
The home always keeps you up to date on your relative's health that is in their care. I can not visit as much so it is good they keep in touch. A home that has a lot of activity and things for the residents. A lovely place to visit and the rooms can be made very homely with your own furniture or nice chair, pictures on the walls to make them more at home. Also in the summer lovely gardens to sit in or you might be taken out for a nice walk, would highly recommend this care home.
My mother has been in this care home for over a year and the things they have lost also a brand new pair of shoes that I got my mum also underwear, nighties, tops, blankets. They even went into the drawer and took the pop socks to go with the shoes. It should not happen to my mum when she is in care.
After looking after my father suffering from dementia for 8 years unfortunately it came to the point that he required 24hr care. We were extremely lucky to get him a placement in Airthrey Care Home in Feb 2020. I knew that this was a positive move as dad seemed to settle in well. His room was surprisingly large with his own bathroom. When we added his personal belongings it was really home from home. We were able to visit whenever we pleased and enjoyed the pet therapy days with dad. All the care workers were very inviting and I could see for myself just how much care they provided to the residents. It takes special people to do their work. Residents always had fresh drinks at their side and the food was also nourishing and tasty. When COVID hit and we could not visit we were kept informed constantly. Dad passed away in July 2021. The palliative care he received was excellent and helped the family. 5-star home and 5-star care!
I have found the staff to be caring, patient, and helpful to the needs of my mother who has dementia. The staff are always polite and efficient in dealing with any enquiries or addressing any concerns myself or my family have.
The staff at Airthrey Care Home have done an amazing job during the pandemic. They are kind and friendly which makes a massive difference to the experience of residents and relatives. Our relative can sometimes be difficult and aggressive because of his condition, however, the staff are patient and caring with him and have managed to gain his trust. They are flexible with his dietary demands and attentive to his medical needs. They have maintained a great level of communication throughout a difficult time and our family are greatly appreciative of the service they are providing.
My father has now been in Airthrey Care Home for almost three years, having advanced dementia. Having visited seven other local homes we were delighted there was a place for him in Airthrey Care Home. Of all the homes, this was the only one with an "open door" policy offering a visit without an appointment. Hugely reassuring as it meant "take us as seen, warts and all". Fortunately, there were no "warts". Instead, we found a lovely, welcoming, and homely atmosphere where it seemed residents were part of a family who cared for them. The care he has received in this time has been excellent. Each and every member of staff frequently goes above and beyond and it is clear Dad, whilst unable now to communicate, trusts and has a bond with many members of staff. There is excellent communication between staff and family members and I am reassured Dad is in safe and caring hands.
My mum was put into Airthrey Care Home on the 13th of July, directly from hospital in the middle of the coronavirus. The family never got to view the home prior to mum being admitted, the family were in turmoil and really worried mum would never accept this. I must say every member of staff is very friendly and also very professional. They don’t just care for our loved ones, they get to know the family and help in any way they can. I have to say mum seemed to settle in very quickly which gave the family some comfort. I take my hat off to everyone involved in running such a lovely place and keeping our loved ones safe through this awful pandemic.
My husband has Lewy Body Dementia and has been in Airthrey Care Home since July 2020. He was always a quiet man who never caused any trouble anywhere and the staff realise that and treat him accordingly. He is well looked after and all staff are very nice and kind to him. He has always enjoyed his food and in Airthrey Care Home, despite the dementia he still enjoys it. I cannot praise the staff enough for their care of him.
I am very happy with this care home and they are looking after my partner very well, the only problem is getting a staff member on the phone but I assume they are very busy with their clients. I would recommend this care home.
