View Full Details of Jesmond Care HomeEverything seems to be going very well apart from laundry service which seems a bit of a lottery if you get your own clothes back. I have also noticed my mum often has no socks and dressing gown is missing a lot of the time. Apart from this my mum seems happy during the day and is well fed and safe all staff are pleasant and helpful any time we ask for their help the home is always clean and always staffed. Entertainment is always enjoyed by my mum and the social media page is a good insight for us to see what she is doing with her day and we can remind her what she has done that day.
Overall I am happy with the care my family member receives at Jesmond care home. My relative has been a resident there for a number of years and is content, settled and well cared for. Staff are mostly attentive, friendly and caring towards my family member. Occasionally there have been issues relating to care, which management have addressed promptly. There are areas that could be improved, mainly the food, which is currently being reviewed by the Group Operations Manager. Jesmond Care Home provides a caring, kind, friendly and social environment for my family member.
Staff very kind always pleasant to mum and myself when I visit. Only thing I can say as a negative and it's a small gripe, they lose mums glasses and don't tell me when lost so I can get a replacement pair as she wears them all day.
My uncle seems to be calm and more at peace since moving to Jesmond 3 years ago. He enjoys the food and likes watching TV in the lounge with other residents, also likes the fact he can stay in his room if he wants to.
They take great care of my wife who has been there since March 2019. There is a good range of activities on offer for residents to take part in and the staff are all friendly and welcoming.
Mum has been well cared for in the time she has been at Jesmond Care Home. The staff are very caring and take the time to make sure Mum joins in with the activities. I feel confident that the level of care is second to none. The staff can always bring a smile to her face which is fantastic to see. She enjoys the regular entertainment, as do I when my visits can coincide with them!
My mum moved here in December 2023. They are taking very good care of her. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Menu choices are excellent. Lots of activities and live music every Friday. Can't complain about anything. Really happy with the cleanliness of the home.
Generally happy with the care my mum gets. Always dressed well and looking clean. Very pleased with the activities on offer, and the way she is encouraged to participate. Sometimes at weekends, I feel the length of time she has to wait after pressing the buzzer is too long, and at times, carers seem to be wondering around looking at their phones.
My mother has made good progress physically since moving into Jesmond. She is well looked after and her needs are attended to with kindness and consideration by the staff. When I have visited her, she is always cheerful and attentive. She is clearly enjoying her stay in Jesmond.
Every member of staff I have spoken to and interacted with is always polite, helpful and friendly. Staff are smiling, respectful and professional when interacting with Dad. I am happy and confident that his needs are being addressed and reviewed as necessary. The entertainment program is varied and residents are actively engaged in this, well done for keeping this so interesting. My only complaint is his clothes go missing regularly, which I understand can happen with so many people wearing similar garments and labels coming off after washing.
My dad moved into Jesmond Care Home in May this year. I can honestly say what an amazing care home it is that has accommodated my dad's needs. Jesmond have a very well-organised and motivated team of staff. The staff have spent time with my dad listening to him on how much assistance he needs as he has MS. I can see a big improvement in my dad's speech and willingness to join in on activities. The activities coordinator has motivated and gives my dad the encouragement he needs. Jesmond go that extra mile for all residents and nothing is a problem, whether it is how they wash or what is their favourite meal. I too have received support from Jesmond and welcomed the advice. My dad is very happy residing at Jesmond, it is definitely down to the staff interaction that has brought on his speech and brought back his smile.
My mum has been a resident at Jesmond Care Home since October 2022. The staff do an amazing job. They look after Mum extremely well, and as her Dementia is progressing it is such a relief to know that they will do their utmost to make her as happy as she can be. Mum is always encouraged to take part in the daily activities. There are great visits from entertainers. I love seeing photos of Mum smiling and enjoying herself. I feel that I can approach the staff including management at any time, which I think is so important. If there is anything I am worried about they will deal with it. As a family, we are so glad we chose Jesmond Care Home.
My mum has been a resident for five years and her dementia has progressed so that she is now mostly bed bound and can’t communicate. However, the staff at Jesmond Care Home go to great pains to engage with her daily. They always play her favourite music, they talk to her when they are in the room and they make sure she gets her daily dose of chocolate buttons. They painstakingly feed her at every meal and they take care to make sure she is clean afterwards. My mum would hate to be left dirty and it’s the little things that matter. I cannot thank the caring staff enough for giving us such peace of mind. They are the best.
My husband has been a resident in Jesmond for 3 and a half years. I have been really pleased with his care and the attention he has received. They are a very friendly staff from management to cleaning staff. Unfortunately, my husband isn't so mobile now but the staff very kindly take him on outings. They are also so accommodating with visitors.
My Dad has been a resident of Jesmond Care Home since January 2023 and has been very well looked after. His needs are complex and staff have been brilliant at accommodating to those needs with nothing too much trouble at all. I live in Glasgow which makes things difficult but have received regular updates on how he is doing with prompt replies when enquiries have been made. My Dad was offered a room with a great view onto the lovely garden area which he has been able to enjoy and staff have been great at adapting/accommodating to his specific likes and dislikes. There is a caring, friendly atmosphere at Jesmond with a proper homely feel about it plus there is always something going on for residents in the communal areas which is always a pleasure to see. In sum I would wholeheartedly recommend Jesmond for the quality of care provided to my Dad but also the kindness and support offered to myself in dealing with the difficulties regarding my Dad’s declining health.
Overall we are really happy with the care provided for mum. There have been several issues with items going missing from her room but all but one has been returned. Occasional issues with the wrong laundry being returned. However, this may be due to staff shortages. It would be helpful if a visitors' chair was provided in clients' rooms.
The dedication and care that the staff have shown my mum at Jesmond Care Home has been wonderful and I can't praise them enough. The staff genuinely care about their residents and Mum has always spoken very highly of the staff at Jesmond. The staff were very supportive when Mum was making the adjustment to living at Jesmond and they also provided wonderful support both to residents and their families during the most difficult periods of the covid pandemic.
During the past year whilst my dad has been in Jesmond Care Home. We as a family have found all the staff and the facilities to be first class. They take the time to get to know the residents and their families which is reassuring. The various activities in and out of the home are always thoroughly enjoyed as seen on the private social media page.
The staff are dedicated to the wellbeing of the residents and take the time to engage in conversation with family members or visitors visiting their relatives. It is comforting to see the residents enjoying activities that keeps them physically and mentally active. The daily dispensing of the correct medicine and the dedication to residents hygiene is also very good. The meals are varied in quality and generally good, any complaints are well received and addressed. I believe my mother is thriving with the care she receives and the environment she is in. Staff go above and beyond to care for the residents.
The home does its best with the staff they have and they provide an excellent range of activities to keep residents occupied. However, my one main concern is when my granny buzz’s for the toilet she can often (not on just the odd occasion) wait over an hour to be seen which is not acceptable. My granny now dreads buzzing as she feels like she’s being an inconvenience. My granny is always complaining that the majority of lunch and evening meals are of poor quality but does comment that the breakfast is good and the fish on a Friday is excellent.
