It is always difficult to make the decision to put a loved one into a care home We have been married for 61 years so it is a huge change to live apart for both of us Thankfully it was the best thing we could have done. It is a great relief to me to see her being extremely well looked after and cared for in the home. I cannot fault the care she is getting. All the staff do a first rate job, in addition keeping me advised of her medical needs when they change, which can be daily. I cannot find fault with this Home knowing that my wife is being very well cared for in a safe, comfortable environment.
We and most importantly, my mother experienced nothing less than the best of care at Muirfield. It is always a challenging decision to move into a care home and the transition was smooth thanks to the team of dedicated nurses and carers who take so much trouble to assist in the process. Everyone is friendly and smiling. We could not have asked for more. A first-rate home.
My mother, who has Alzheimer's Disease, and associated memory loss has been a resident in Muirfield Care home for over a year now. The decision to move her into care was hard.. however, the staff made the transition easy and as stress-free as these things can be. I feel we all have gained new family and friends at Muirfield. The burden of carer rotas, medication collection/provision, and personal care are all being handled seamlessly. It is wonderful to be a “daughter” and family member again- that person had rather disappeared in the carer role.
My father developed a fever and chest infection, and the staff went out of their way to ensure he got the care, attention, and medication that he required. Within a few days he was showing signs of improvement, and to ensure his recovery, he was also isolated for a few days too. During his time in the home, he has built up a rapport with some of the staff and asks for one staff member in particular. Excellent.
My mother has now been at Muirfield for 1 and a half years. The permanent members of staff are always very cheerful and kind and seem to have built up a good relationship with her. They always give my mother a good welcome back when she has been away staying with us at home for a few days. The food is good and there is a great hairdresser. The gardens are very well tended and my mother spends as much time as possible outside. The gardener even keeps jobs back for her to do.
My father has been a resident for 9 months or so. The home is always clean and welcoming. The continuing Covid 19 procedures are a bore but understandable and acceptable! The staff are friendly, capable and professional. In particular, I wish to make a special mention to one member of staff who is based on the third floor. He is a star who is kind, thoughtful to the individual patient's needs and very helpful. He gives us great confidence that my father is being very well looked after and in a safe, comfortable and caring environment.
My mother has been in Muirfield for over 2 years. She is being very well looked after. The staff are always very pleasant to me and my mother. They are often short handed but cope efficiently and with good quality care. They respond quickly to requests from me or my mother. The atmosphere in the home is very warm and welcoming. All the management team seem to know the residents well and recognise me too. Sometimes there is a lack of communication - I am not always kept up to date with developments but I appreciate the difficult circumstances under which staff are working.
The management and staff were nothing but supportive, and the love and affection shown to my dad from all members of staff, especially in his last days, was exceptional. In sitting with my dad in these last few days, I was overwhelmed by the support and love shown by certain members of staff who were really sad to leave him at the end of their shift, have come in to see him on their days off and coming from other areas of the home to see him, and say their goodbyes whilst he still clung to life. Muirfield is certainly a care home in the true sense of the word. The love and care all members of staff show to the residents is remarkable and the homely feeling with the residents treated like family is truly exceptional. Muirfield is a truly remarkable care home.
My husband has been a resident at Muirfield Care Home for six weeks now and feels happy and settled there. All the staff is so kind, caring and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is well planned and spacious and there is a wide range of activities and outings available. His room is very comfortable and I feel so relaxed there. He really enjoys his meals and there is always a good choice. When the better weather comes, he is looking forward to spending time in the attractive gardens. From the moment I first went into Muirfield, I was struck by the warm and friendly atmosphere. A very happy nursing home.
Very nice atmosphere. Great staff. Very comfortable with my husbands care, would not change from Muirfield. Any problems quickly resolved.
Lovely welcoming home. Staff take good care of my mum and I know she is safe and very happy there. She is encouraged to make her own decisions regarding her meals choices and participation in activities.
Mum has been a resident at Muirfield for over two years. Having visited Mum on a regular basis, I have found the general atmosphere to be positive and welcoming. The warmth of all the staff is genuine, both in person and on the phone. Their care of Mum is sensitive, patient and kind. The facilities are excellent with a beautiful garden. Rooms are light and bright and kept spotlessly clean. The activities staff provide an excellent programme of activities which caters for all residents. Any concerns/questions are addressed in an understanding, efficient manner.
I couldn't rate the care home highly enough. The staff are excellent, caring and professional. As a visitor, I am greeted with a smile, and the staff listen to any questions I may have, they listen to me for any concerns and requests I may have.
I am the guardian of my cousin, who has been a resident since 2017. I visit about twice a week. I can say that I have always been highly impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of every member of staff, whether administrative or caregivers. The staff have an excellent rapport with the residents and take a real interest in their welfare. This creates a happy well-adjusted environment, which is important for my cousin who has some learning difficulties. In addition to the welcoming atmosphere in Muirfield, there is also a great range of organised activities with a full programme each week. As with any fairly large group living situation, there have been very occasional areas that have had to be drawn to the attention of the staff, but these have been rectified or otherwise dealt with pleasantly and efficiently. The home is a very modern construction, and the facilities are superb and very well maintained. I am very happy that my cousin is well cared for.
For 14 years I was my mums main carer. It became impossible to provide the nursing care mum required. Muirfield nursing home kindly responded to an urgent request by the hospital at home team and social worker for emergency care. A small but adequate room was made available at short notice. Mum was admitted on 4th March 16. Family members visited mum on a daily basis all were impressed by the standard of care provided and the friendly manner and consideration by all staff without exception. Sadly mum died on 28th March 16, having spent nearly 24 days there. I and my family would have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home as an example of how such establishments should be managed.
