View Full Details of Linlithgow Care HomeMy mother has been a resident of the Linlithgow Carehome - Cockleroy section, since September 2023. Suffering dementia and being immobile, the staff in the home have been outstanding tending to her needs and being a source of friendly support and advice to the family. Throughout this time the staff have been really warm, kind and supportive. This has been very comforting, especially in the last few days of my mothers life where she has been treated with a lot of respect and dignity.
Individual dignity entitlement and constant respect are in abundance day-to-day and week-to-week. The nurses and staff are approachable, caring, and responsive and work hard on emotional wellbeing proving and giving a high level of care. Thank you!
We are generally satisfied with the standard of care. The staff appear to be genuinely concerned about the residents and their comfort. We feel that the rooms look a bit tired and would benefit from a refresh and modernisation. Our main concern is the standard of food. There are occasions when the food is not age-appropriate and is not served at a constant temperature and does not represent value for money.
My sister seems to be happy and settled.
Both my parents have been residents in Linlithgow Care Home over the past three and a half years, so I have some experience of the establishment. In recent months, I have noticed a significant decline in the morale of the care staff. They regularly appear to be under pressure due to staff shortages, or having to 'train' inexperienced agency staff, resulting in some very experienced long-serving staff to leave. There is a sense of being undervalued and that they do not have the quality time they would like to spend with residents. I have also seen a significant decline in the quality of food in the home, both in terms of main meals but also tea and coffee breaks. I have raised concerns to the manager about poor nutrition. The carers and front-of-house staff are fantastic and do an amazing job. Please acknowledge this and make 'praise' rather than criticism the norm.
My husband is treated with respect and kindness. The staff are cheerful and friendly.
Staff are excellent, genuinely caring and treat everyone with dignity. Because of that, I would recommend the home to anyone. Staff go out of their way to take residents on outings and add homely touches. Overall, the home does the most important things about caring for my relative extremely well. I find the heating on the first floor oppressive. Some of my family, with their own health conditions, find it very difficult to visit because of the heat. My relative’s room is small, particularly with a wheelchair and walker in there. Laundry is frustrating at times, with delays if a machine breaks down and items go missing from time to time.
My mother recently became a resident. She has found it hard to settle in. The staff and management have gone out of their way to establish and support her needs. Our family are very appreciative of the care and support provided.
My uncle moved to Linlithgow Care Home in September 2023 after quite a traumatic few months. The staff made this experience so much easier for all of us, they were empathetic to everyone's needs, built confidence and showed infinite patience with my uncle whilst he adjusted to his new home. We visit almost daily and the consistency of the care is always of a high standard.
My mother has been a resident for 5 months now. She's treated with kindness, respect, and gentle persuasion. She is cared for very well despite, in my view, a shortage of staff who do so well in these circumstances. She's not willing to participate in activities, however she knows that everyone is looking after her.
My relative was taken on an outing around the loch and she told us all about it and she was thoroughly amused by the whole event. The staff are always coming into her room and seeing if she is ok. They help her get her clothes together and she always looks good. She gets her hair done regularly and enjoys the attention, the rooms are always kept tidy and clean. And when you ask for something for our relative the staff always help. We as a family are pleased with the home and all the staff.
We are reassured that my mum is safe, secure and well looked after by friendly and caring staff. What could improve: A wider range of stimulating activities to support more abled residents. Improvements in information boards informing of activities noted/helpful. Food-We get a lot of complaints regarding bland/overcooked and lack of range of puddings.
I am very happy with my gran's care. I feel she has adapted well since her admission! And all the staff are very kind and caring! They make me and my sons feel very welcome whenever we visit! It was good to see my gran getting out and about, doing activities, she especially loved the summer fete! I would highly recommend this care home!
The care home is clean and tidy. Activities are arranged each day. The staff are often 'covering' or just started and not able to answer questions. I am going to contact the manager to discuss a few other issues, face-to-face.
My dad was accepted into a room last year following the death of my mum, his loving wife and carer. He was warmly welcomed by all the staff as were we. He settled into his new surroundings and seems to enjoy all aspects of the caring environment. All staff and residents appear happy and content everytime we visit. A big thank you to everyone.
My father is receiving first-class care in the Linlithgow Car Home. All the staff are kind and caring and very welcoming to all visitors. I was extremely anxious about placing him in a home however seeing how he is cared for on a daily basis and the interaction of staff with my father I feel happy and confident that he is in the best hands. The home itself is clean and tidy and the meals are all cooked on the premises from fresh produce. There is entertainment and various activities if my father wishes to join in with. There is always laughter and support when needed.
The staff at Linlithgow Care Home have been incredibly lovely and attentive towards our grandad. They have always gone above and beyond to make him happy and comfortable as well as ourselves when we visit. They are good at regularly communicating with the family and keeping us up to date on how our grandad is getting on. Since moving into the home he has been a lot more sociable and has made a lot of friends.
I think we can all agree that we all experience extreme guilt when we have to make the difficult decision to entrust our loved ones in to care. To entrust a person you love dearly to people you do not know is incredibly difficult and full of emotion but I am writing this review to say you can trust the team at Linlithgow. They will listen and try for your loved ones. They will be available for you to voice any concerns and provide support. They will cater their care around your loved ones individual needs and not apply a one size fits all policy. As we get older it becomes harder to make new friends but I would say that our experience of Linlithgow has bucked the trend. The team very much feels like part of our family. They genuinely care and listen. They involve and include mum in their lives and have provided incredible support when we have had a fair few health challenges. We are incredibly thankful to have them .
My brother became a resident of Linlithgow Care Home in April 2022 after having been subjected to the most horrendous treatment at a previous care home. The manager of Linlithgow Care Home heard my brother's story and how he had been mistreated and without any hesitation, she opened the door of this fabulous environment to my brother. Slowly she and her tremendous team have shown great patience, begun to help piece my brother back together again, gaining his trust, encouraging and I can see my brother come alive again. For this to the Manager and the team I will be forever grateful. No matter when I visit my brother, morning, afternoon or evening, there are people around, he's sleeping and eating well, has stimulation and activities and a sense of purpose again. Linlithgow I applaud you. Laughter, fun and care as it should be.
My mum was in Linlithgow for four years. The care and dedication given by staff and management (especially the new manager) were first-class. In mum's last days the staff also took care of me as well as mum. They were wonderful. The only slight criticism could do with a bit of an update, looking a bit tired.
