View Full Details of Belgrave LodgeOur mother has been at Belgrave Lodge for two years now. We are very impressed with the home, and Mum seems happy there. We like the fact that it is one of the smaller care homes, as this gives it a cosy, homely atmosphere. The staff and management are always very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They provide a good range of activities and outings for the residents. Regular meetings are held for the families to keep us up-to-date with all that is going on, to keep us involved and to give us a chance to share any ideas for other activities or events and/or to express any concerns we may have. We would thoroughly recommend.
After researching several care homes, my mother moved into the Belgrave Lodge in April 2021. While it was not the most modern in décor or design, the staff appeared kind and considerate, and being small the manager and owner were at hand to help my mother (and us) to settle in. Three years later the staff are still kind and considerate, and know and care for my mother as the individual that she is. What has impressed me is that, as my mother’s dementia has progressed, her care has adapted to meet her changing needs. While the regular relatives meetings are useful as a formal ‘catch up’, the small size of the home has meant that there has always been easy and direct communication between myself/my siblings and the staff.
My mother has been cared for in Belgrave Lodge coming up for two years her care there has been excellent. The carers are caring and I have only seen respect and dignity shown to the residents. The manager's door is always open to discuss any concerns. The home is clean and has a comfortable feel about it. Having been to other care homes I have not found them to have the feeling of activity that I have found at Belgrave. I have never regretted the decision to choose Belgrave for my mother.
My mother has been in Belgrave Nursing Home for six months now and we have nothing but praise for the nursing staff, the carers, management and all staff we’ve met. My mother has been treated with kindness and dignity at all times and she is very happy living there. Staff work hard with lots of activities keeping residents occupied and stimulated. Her grandson’s wedding is in May and the staff have gone out of their way to organise carer and transport to get her there and back - the manager even lent her a fascinator for my mum to wear. Can’t speak highly enough of this care home.
My father moved into Belgrave Lodge very reluctantly I have to say, almost 2 years ago. He was just out from an 11-week stint in hospital, he was very weak, thin and unable to walk or move about without the hoist. We really didn’t think he had many days left! However, now he is a good normal weight, no hoist and walks about well with his zimmer, sometimes on his own but always accompanied downstairs by a friendly staff member to and from the lounge/ dining room, etc, but the biggest fact is, that he has never once complained or asked to go home and that really says it all for me and my family. He is contented. The care home is of a more cosy older fashion style but as a family, we all agree that the personal care and attention he receives far outweighs plush carpets and fancy coffee machines (that no one can work anyway). I would strongly recommend this care home to anyone interested in a warm friendly and caring environment for their loved one.
My mother has been a resident at Belgrave Lodge for 15 months. We decided to move Mum to Belgrave Lodge from another local care home (Mum’s first experience in care) as we were not entirely happy with the standard of care she was receiving there. I am delighted we took that difficult decision as we are very happy with the care and setting provided by Belgrave Lodge. Mum has advanced Alzheimer’s and is almost entirely blind. Despite these challenges, the staff at Belgrave Lodge make Mum comfortable, they take care of all her personal needs and I believe Mum to be very settled and content. Mum is no longer fully aware of her situation, and it very reassuring to know she is safe and secure at Belgrave Lodge. Having had some experience elsewhere, I am certain that the dedication to providing a real “care” environment at Belgrave Lodge is markedly greater at Belgrave Lodge. The entire staff at Belgrave Lodge are truly committed to providing the best care possible for their residents. Belgrave Lodge is not glitzy but is a true care home in every sense.
Ghastly place. Awful furniture and food. Noisy and nothing to do but watch TV. Hate this dump. I would never put anyone in here, and am trapped in here and never allowed out. Loathe being here. Like an odd member of staff, but many are grim and some can hardly speak of understand English. Great.
The team at Belgrave Lodge are exceptional. They supported us as a family from day one, when we were just considering the idea of a nursing home. When Mum moved in (April 2022), they cared for her with dignity and tenderness, taking the time to understand her needs and likes, and supported her with her dementia and her physical frailness. There was always a warm welcome for us as visitors and I felt very reassured by how competent and caring the staff were. It doesn't look like a fancy hotel, but it is clean, cosy and feels like a family home with homemade and hearty food. The staff know each resident as an individual and take care to keep the days varied by offering a range of activities and special events so there is something for everyone. The atmosphere is lovely, thanks to the whole staff team who have genuine warmth and care for the residents. I would highly recommend.
My aunt has now been a resident for over six months. I have found the staff friendly and attentive. My aunt has prospered physically and mentally since entering the home. She joins in the organised activities which have been beneficial to her I believe. The home is privately owned and run which means the owners are contactable if need be. As care homes go in Edinburgh, it is reasonably priced. I would stay there myself if the need arose.
My Mother moved into Belgrave Lodge in August 2023. She was made very welcome and has settled in very quickly largely due to the great care that she has been given. The home is a small one and I feel that as a consequence the staff know the residents well. I live locally and I visit often and I have been very impressed with the warm and friendly atmosphere every time I visit. My mother is much happier here than she was living in her own flat by herself. The home is small and therefore does not have some of the facilities found in other, larger homes. However, the standard of care is very good. It is exceptionally good value for money.
