View Full Details of Chamberlain Road Nursing HomeWe moved our 95 year old mother to live in Chamberlain Road Nursing Home in July 2024. She lives with advanced dementia but is physically active. Prior to this, she lived at home with 24 hour care. The manager is excellent and demands excellence from all her staff. She listened to what our mum would want for her room. The staff are all friendly and caring and our mum has thrived in their care. They were patient when she kept trying to leave at first and staff often take her out for walks. I really could not rate the home and staff highly enough.
Selecting a care home for my mother was one of the hardest decisions we have ever made. From the very start the manager and the entire team at Chamberlain Road Nursing Home showed empathy, care and compassion with, genuinely, my mother's best interests at the very heart of their thinking. This has continued throughout. My mother is now settling in a lovely, clean, warm and bright ensuite room and really looks forward to three great meals a day having previously not had much of an appetite. She feels safe and secure and happy that her wishes are respected. We have found the management team always on hand to discuss any issues which arise from time to time and continue to proactively support my mother's transition to a care home setting encouraging positive social interactions through the varied group activities, 1:1 care plan and family liaison. Our thanks to the team for, in our experience, all their continued first-class care.
From the first day that we visited Chamberlian House, we were welcomed by a caring and attentive staff. We have always found the environment and care given to be of the highly quality. There is a genuine interest and attentiveness shown at all times. We have never once been anything but delighted with the service provided.
You instantly get a homely feeling when you enter the building. I visited the home for many years and the care, compassion, and friendliness shown to my friend never changed during that time. Every single member of the team contributed to looking after her every need. As a visitor, I was always made more than welcome. Many thanks to the wonderful team.
My mother was in Chamberlayne Road nursing home for 18 months until she died in April 2024. She was very reluctant to go there and was at times quite difficult, but the staff, without exception looked after her extremely well and with respect, and grew to love her despite her idiosyncrasies! An example of the care which touched me very much was that they recognised that she had always enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She would discuss the meals with the chef, and he invited her to “help” in the kitchen for a day only 2 weeks before she died. The manager sent us a photo of her that day, looking happier than she had looked for some years. The staff was very kind also to us, her family, and we always felt the respectful love that they gave my mum. She could not have been anywhere better.
My Mum passed away two weeks ago after spending her last 10 months in Chamberlian. From day one she participated in almost all of the activities which she loved. She looked forward to all her meals, varied and delicious. Her room was always cosy and clean and she felt happy and secure there. The staff were not only very caring to her but also to myself, very much a home from home. I cannot fault any of the management or staff, they were so kind right to the very end. Thank you all so very much.
The manager at Chamberlain Road Nursing Home is as sensitive as she is excellent in her work. She really does go above and beyond to lift my spirits by organising trips for me such as the cinema which is so kind and thoughtful. The entertainment evenings are so well thought out, casino nights etc., with great decor and staff costumes. My nutritional support worker understands my needs and is kind and sensitive with a great sense of humour. The staff in general really do take the time to get to know me and I have very good relationships with them. My friends and family are fine to come and go and I get out as much as I can either with them or the staff. I am very happy to be cared for here.
Chamberlain Road has been a godsend to my friend and the perfect place for her to move to since living alone became too difficult. The location is wonderful for shops and cafes and there is parking. This beautiful home is very tastefully decorated and the staff are very friendly and helpful to residents and visitors alike. The manager is so kind and sensitive to all individual needs and takes special interest in all the residents, tailoring activities especially for them. I always feel very welcome and I've got to know many of the staff and nothing is too much trouble for them. There are always activities to get involved in and themed nights where the staff go all out to decorate the public areas and dress up. The menus are amazing and the staff have gone above and beyond to assist my friend with her nutrition. There is a very positive and fun vibe here yet it is also very professional with the latest technology for the resident's safety and comfort. Thank you to all staff.
We were both apprehensive when she was to move to a care home - a very big step in anyone's life. However, she has settled in thanks to support of staff and facilities. I can only say well done to all concerned.
My friend has been in Chamberlain Road for nine months, she was admitted because her dementia meant living at home became too difficult. She has improved physically and mentally since admission. She benefits greatly from the activities programme and loves to go on minibus trips. The staff of all types are exceptionally kind and caring. She has many visitors who are always made welcome and encouraged to provide the stimulation she needs and to maintain contact with the outside world. In short the home is outstanding and I cannot praise it too highly.
Every time I enter the home, I see friendly faces. The staff are smiling and helpful and respectful to residents. There is an amazing programme of activities. It feels like a safe and happy environment, with warmth and care from the top filtering down. I would be happy to be a resident here when the time comes.
I had a chance of seeing the Chamberlain Road Nursing Home from the inside and I found it a wonderful place that is ran by the wonderful staff. The residents are looked after by well-trained staff. Residents could join different activities e.g. exercise classes, bingo, crosswords, etc. Once a week the residents are taken to different places to have varied day trips. Which is lovely for them. The food is fresh, all food is prepared daily and residents can request what they would like to eat. They have a lovely chef in the kitchen with a lovey smile. The rooms are clean and spacious with plenty of lighting and high ceilings. They are well decorated and are well looked after. There is a nice garden at the back where residents can sit out on a nice afternoon to enjoy the sun. The unit’s manager is an amazing manger. She cares about every single resident who stays in the home. She always make sure residents get the best quality of care. Her staff are very tremendous at their jobs.
I am very happy with the care my husband has received over the past year since he moved into the care home. The staff are efficient and caring with regard to both residents and their families. I have been included in all decisions on my husband's care, and communication, in general, is excellent. I appreciated the recent introduction of periodic meetings for the relatives of residents.
My father was at Chamberlain for just over a year, before passing away there. The staff are so compassionate, loving and caring - and it is the staff who have made this care home the special place it is. We were very impressed with the welcoming, comfortable, clean and well-maintained environment, from the moment Dad moved in. The warmth and sensitivity of the staff make it hard to say 'goodbye'. It's been a real home from home for Dad. Thank you everyone.
I cannot speak too highly about Chamberlain. My mother has now been a resident for almost two years, and remains mentally alert, but registered blind. Any move from independent living to life in a care home is challenging, but Chamberlain staff have respected my mother’s early desire to continue to be as independent as possible, gradually moving to give her the extra care as it has become needed. Her room is spectacular, a large Edinburgh public room with a chandelier! However, it is the staff who make Chamberlain the special place that it is. Superbly led, they are all friendly, kitchen staff as well as care staff, and provide important companionship during each day. There is a range of activities provided each week which my mother participates in, and she feels included despite her lack of eyesight. The home is infinitely flexible as regards food. My mother prefers to have her meals served in her room, enjoying the peace and privacy, and requests such as “extra spinach” are met with grace!
My aunt stayed in Chamberlain Road Nursing Home for just over two years, she was treated with the utmost respect and the care given was not just in a personal level, but it allowed her to maintain her independent spirit until the end. The whole staff are to be thanked for the amazing care and attention to detail, not just for my aunt, but the care and respect we received on each occasion we visited. They also acted in a compassionate and professional manner throughout the whole Covid pandemic. Thanks again.
This care home is absolutely excellent. The staff are uniformly outstanding. My mother is being cared for with great genuine compassion and skill. We could not have asked for better. Thank you to all at this care home!
The staff in Chamberlain have not only cared for my mother superbly over the last four years, they have shown a kindness and affection which has been amazing. Their communication with me as a relative was always good and we couldn't have asked for more from anyone.
I’ve been volunteering weekly in Chamberlain Road Nursing Home for the 3 years and think it is a wonderful care home. There are a few things that led me to this opinion: 1) The residents I’ve got to know all enjoy living there. 2) The staff have always been extremely friendly to me and I’ve only ever seen them behaving in the same way towards residents. They are approachable and always happy to help. 3) The care home is in good condition and is always clean. 4) There are lots of activities and events on offer for residents to join in with. These include trips to nice coffee shops, watching strictly come dancing (and other similar weekly programmes), festive events and creative workshops. These are completely optional and attendance by residents is highly variable but I think residents largely enjoy them when they do attend.
My stepfather lived at Chamberlain Road Nursing Home for 16 months until his death peacefully at the home. The staff were great at helping him settle in and to cope with the death of my mother and the immense loneliness that came with it. He settled in much faster than I expected and I think considered many of the staff to be friends and not just carers. I visited him frequently and was invariably welcomed and made to feel as if I was in his home, occasionally staying for a meal - lovely food. Staff turnover is low. It does feel more like a real home than many other care homes do and I am so glad it was there for my stepfather when he needed it.
