View Full Details of Milford HouseThe care, compassion and sheer hard work is outstanding in this care home. The manager is superb and the staff are excellent. It is perfect for my ninety-year-old mother who has advanced dementia. It is an absolute godsend for my mother to be here at Milford House. The resident's families are kept in the loop with everything as the communication is wonderful. This feels like a home, a proper home and has a wonderful vibe. Thank you to all those who take care of my lovely wee mammy.
My Mum moved into Milford house just over a year ago. I was very relieved and happy that she moved into such a great care home. The management at Milford House is excellent. I receive regular communications updating me on my Mum’s health and well-being which are very much appreciated. The monthly Newsletter about the activities and changes within the home is very informative and keeps me up to date. I find the staff to be very helpful and friendly and they take great care of my Mum. It makes me feel good knowing that my Mum is well looked after. I do not live in Edinburgh and cannot visit as often as I would like. It is therefore comforting to know that my Mum is in good hands and is happy.
Great service and lovely staff. Mum is bed bound now but still gets excellent care. Staff and management keep everyone informed of what’s going on. I would have no hesitation in recommending Milford House.
Overall the care home is good, it’s warm and clean and the food looks and smells appealing. The staff are always friendly and informative however there is a fair turnover. The rooms are large, not all are en-suite which would be preferable for those who still have the capacity to go to the toilet. The communal areas are decorated nicely and there is music playing in one lounge and the TV in another. Residents' personal care seems of a good standard, if anything could be improved I would say teeth and nail cleaning. There are weekly activities, they are normally the same each week unless there is a special occasion such as Christmas/Easter. There could be more variety here.
My mum has been staying in Milford House since Nov 2021 and has been extremely well looked after by all of the staff who are very personable and caring and I couldn’t fault them at all. The manager is very thoughtful and caring and keeps an open door policy and is always happy to take time to talk to me in regard to my mum if I need to discuss any matters regarding her care. The house is very welcoming and feels like a real home from home and I have noticed my mum is very relaxed and at ease when I visit and anytime I need to talk to the staff on site they are happy to take the time to listen which makes me feel relaxed knowing my mum is important to them. There are regular emails from the manager and relatives meetings and regular newsletters and general updates which make for a general feeling of well-being knowing what is going on within the home and giving me peace of mind knowing that my mum is safe. There are also regular activities for the residents which are fantastic.
Great service. My wife is now bedbound but still receives excellent care. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending Milford House Care Home to anybody looking for a good care home.
It’s been a difficult time for all at the home, staff changes and the resident's care changes too. Throughout it, all the management has kept in contact with the families giving updates and easing fears and concerns. It’s not all been positive as deterioration in health gives us all cause for concern and anguish to family members but the care and stimulation of residents is the thing that drives the staff. I am grateful and appreciate all that is done for my dad. Keep up the good work Milford House.
Milford House is a lovely care home, the staff are fantastic. They prove to be very thoughtful and always take time to speak to you and take a genuine interest in how we are. Having my mother stay there has made the whole experience of her dementia more bearable. They continue to do a wonderful job in what must be incredibly challenging times. Angels without wings.
My mother has been a resident for over two years. The standard of care has been exceptional during this period. How the team have continued to deliver to the highest standards during the pandemic is inspirational. I would have no compunction in recommending Milford House care home to friends and family. All my concerns regarding care homes have been dispelled due to the excellent care and dignity that my mother has received thus far.
My mother was 96 years of age in January. She was very poorly around the weekend of the 9th January. The nursing care and attention she received was fantastic and I was constantly updated regarding her condition. To our amazement, my mother ‘pulled through’ this very worrying and upsetting period. Her birthday was on the 15th January and the staff made it possible for me to see her, all be it, waving through a window, due to restrictions. It was something I thought I would not manage to achieve.
I am really pleased with the way the staff at Milford House have dealt with the pressure of working under the threat of covid during this last year. It has been a stressful year for us all, both in our own homes and thinking of our relatives in a care home. The staff have been wonderful in keeping the lines of communication open. We have been kept updated with phone calls, FaceTime calls and photos of our relatives. We have been informed when and how visits would take place and informed of the safety measures that are in place to make these visits possible. My dad and I have been impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the fact that they know my mum's needs so well. We have been kept updated with all Mum's medical care and needs including vaccine dates etc.
The care has been very informative to me and I have mostly agreed to the same. It has proved to be in the best interest to the resident, as it has kept the resident quite healthy and out of hospital. While and still in isolation confined to their own room, the staff have been excellent in making the resident as comfortable as possible and frequently visiting them in their room, which is very appreciated, as is my relative. Peoples person and loves company and hates to be on their own. I also enjoy having FaceTime although I don’t get a very good conversation. Really looking forward to the lockdown being lifted and hopefully the residents mental health has not been affected too much. Once again, I can’t thank and praise the staff enough for their excellent care, especially during this awful epidemic.
