View Full Details of The Argyle Care HomeMy sister, who suffers from dementia moved into the care home in December 2023. For me, one the most important points is that my sister is happy, safe and healthy. The staff are just great, they are calm, kind, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. My sister loves the care home and I have witnessed a marked difference in her health since becoming a resident. She partakes in all the activities, which she really enjoys, and the competent staff treat her with kindness and patience. Finally, the communication between the family and the care home is very good. Any queries or questions I have are dealt with quickly. I could not ask for more and both the family and my sister are very pleased and satisfied. Thank you to the staff and management for making this such a welcoming place, keep up the good work.
The staff are excellent, friendly, approachable and helpful. My relative has shown much improvement in her condition since she went into the home for which I am very thankful. The home appears efficiently run within the restraints of finances available though more information about the finances of the home would be appreciated. I would express my gratitude to the staff, management and owners for their work.
Although my grandmother has only been at the home a few weeks I have been very pleased about the settling in dye to such kind, competent staff. She is very praising of the food and comments frequently that the girls are lovely (I'm sure she likes the boys too!). Well done Argyle Care Home.
I felt I had to write this review to thank the staff at Argyle Care Home for their kindness and support for my Mum who moved in at the end of April. Mum is still taking time to settle in but has very positive things to say about the staff and especially the food which she really enjoys. A slightly disturbing incident happened last week but I am so grateful for the positive response from management to help Mum overcome the upset and how the incident has been dealt with to minimise the risk of it happening again. I am also grateful for the updates I have received since this incident. I can't thank you all enough.
My husband is very happy at The Argyle Care Home. The staff do an excellent job looking after him. As a family we are more than happy with the care he receives.
This review is not related to any specific matter or incident, but rather the overall improvement in general conditions, in my opinion, that have taken place over the last six months or so. Had I been submitting a review for the year 2023 then I doubt I could have given a rating higher than two stars. The home now has a more organised feel to it, with staff appearing interested and involved, any requests made during visiting being dealt with at the time, where possible. Indeed, some members of staff make extra effort to be of assistance if required. In my opinion, cleanliness is much improved too; gone are the 'sticky' floors and gone also are the odours that can be pervasive in care homes. The fairly recent introduction of a hairdresser and regular visits by a chiropodist are to be commended. I would say that the strongest recommendation for the home, the management and the staff is that Mum is happy and contented here. That's not too bad, is it.
We arrived unexpectedly to take our friend out for fresh air and coffee. We were welcomed by staff and asked to wait until they got a wheelchair and made our friend ready to go out. All our interactions with staff were positive, friendly and happy to discuss our friend's welfare in a professional, caring manner.
Overall, we are happy with the care our Dad has received since entering The Argyle Care Home. When he first entered, the staff were so welcoming and friendly and took great care to help him settle in. We were sad to see many kind faces leave during a change in regime and be replaced by a stream of new staff who do not interact as much with Dad. This led to us raising concern over his care in April 2024 when he was being left in bed, soaked in urine due to incontinence. But I do want to acknowledge that this was swiftly dealt with by the Home Manager, and there has been a noticeable improvement in Dad's care since then. Some personal items have gone missing and never been found, so management of this would benefit from improvement. As would incident reporting when knocks and falls occur. But Dad is very happy and content living in Argyle Care Home, loves his room, and is well cared for by the members of staff who have become familiar to him.
I am happy that my Mum is in a secure and safe environment with friendly and approachable staff. The staff are trying to engage her in the activities within the home but Mum's not very interested in artistic handcrafts etc, perhaps other activities could be looked for. Although it is usually easy enough to speak with staff it would be beneficial for relatives to have some regular/quarterly meetings with the manager and staff to discuss matters within the home. Overall I am pleased with Mum's care.
My dad has only been in 2 weeks and we have had lots of issues with the care home including a serious safety issue. Poor standards of practice and management. The Care Home has promised improvements but time will tell.
Initially when Mum moved onto the home she was involved by the Staff in the activities but as time went on and Mum's dementia worsened her involvement became less and less. I would however like to say that the staff were always friendly and welcoming to me whenever I visited. My issues began when Mum's health deteriorated due to her Bowel Cancer, Mum was admitted to hospital and it took three days for me to be informed of her admission, I was not contacted because suddenly one number was incorrect in my contact mobile number. When she was released from the hospital because they could do nothing more for her I didn’t get sight of the discharge letter until two days later when a nurse in the home informed me that Mum was terminally ill. The home would not provide lip balm for her dry lips, they required a prescription, nor would they give her a straw to drink with, I had to bring some in. Her end-of-life care fell mostly to myself, ensuring that she was washed and changed daily.
We have been very pleased with the care my brother has received since entering The Argyle Care Home. Everyone has been kind and attentive and patient and thoughtful of his needs. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and the premises are clean and warm. One member of staff, in particular, has been outstanding in her attention to his needs.
For such a well-worn, charming building, the facilities and the staff make it a very caring environment for the residents. It is run like clockwork and the staff can accommodate most requests. They are super friendly and extremely professional in their roles.
I am very happy with the care that Dad receives at Argyle Care Home. I know my dad is looked after and always has good things to say about the staff. I would like to give a special mention to Dad's key worker, she is really good with Dad and always keeps me updated on Dad's care.
Staff are excellent. My husband, unfortunately, has no words, and the staff are very good at working out what he wants. They are very kind to him and to me.
The staff are wonderful, and they look after my mother really well. Some of them call her auntie; she is well taken care of, and every day I am in, she has clean bedding. The staff are amazing. Thank you so much for all your love and care.
What an amazing home, the staff are caring and conscientious towards their residents but also to visitors, nothing is too much trouble. The home is clean and inviting and if I was looking for a place for myself or a relative then the Argyle Care Home would be top of my list.
