View Full Details of Barchester Balclutha Court Care HomeMy dad was a resident in Barchester Balclutha Court Care Home for 9 months. The home is warm and friendly and so welcoming. The staff treated my dad like he was their own family and made the experience so much easier. He was loved by all the staff and we are very grateful for their excellent care and attention from the day he was admitted until he passed away.
My grandad was extremely well cared for in the home. He was treated with respect and dignity at all times and the end of his life was made better through his care. The staff are all so kind and caring and should be commended for all their hard work.
My mum has been a resident at Barchester Balclutha Court Care Home since May 2024. She is very well looked after by kind and caring staff. As a family visiting my mum, we are always struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Balclutha.
My gran has been a resident now for a few months. When she first arrived she was very unsettled but I can honestly say, thanks to the staff on the floor, nurses and management, my gran has become more settled as time goes on. She has dementia and limited mobility and the staff provide a person-centred approach to care for her. Activities are well-planned and my gran has been enjoying a few of these while she has been a resident. Staff within the care home are very approachable and are willing to work with my family to make sure my gran receives the best care. No complaints at all - excellent care with supportive and caring staff.
Our mum has been a resident at Barchester Balclutha Court Care Home for nine months. As a family, we feel we can trust the staff. We appreciate the transparency from the care home, in general, and are happy with the regular communication. We are aware that the building is older and it would be good if all residents could have an en-suite bathroom. The recent redecorating is nice, especially the garden room. The staff, in general, are caring and we feel our mum gets treated with respect. The activity staff are great also. Appreciate that working and running a care home is a very difficult job, with every day bringing different challenges. Despite this, the manager, deputy manager and team do a great job.
As a family, we could never fault this place my father-in-law just loves it. The staff are all lovely very welcoming and also very professional in thier roles. The manager and deputy manager's doors are always left open if you need a chat about anything. When my father-in-law was unwell they were on the phone to us straight away to tell us he had to hospital. All I can say is this home is 10 out of 10 for everything
Cannot recommend Barchester Balclutha Court Care Home highly enough. They give the residents so much care and attention. You only have to ask for something once and it is done, from hospital appointments to what are the residents favourite things to do. The staff are just the best and the home is spotless. The residents all like to stop you in the corridor to have a wee chat, they all seem to know each other. We can pop in at any time with no notice to see our loved ones. Keep up the great work guys and thank you all.
From day one the experience in Balclutha was first class. Staff at all levels are excellent. The care, compassion and understanding of all of the carers shines through. Despite the long hard working days the staff always have time for the residents. I cannot praise this care home highly enough.
Overall, I am delighted with the care given to my brother-in-law. All staff, including the management, administration and reception staff, are very willing to help, action and support any requests made.
It is always a pleasure to visit Barchester Balclutha Court Care Home. I visit 22 people from our church going once a week doing the top and bottom floors alternate weeks. Due to fewer to visit on the top floor, I usually manage a few on the bottom floor every week. The staff are very helpful and welcoming and the people I visit are very happy with their care. I have got to know some relatives too as I do my rounds.
Balclutha has taken my sister at a critical time. She was discharged from the hospital with several issues, including Parkinson's as well as cognitive dysfunction. You have stabilised these issues and helped her through the loss of ability to stand and the related loss of independence issues and difficulties as her world shrank. She has responded to being treated with respect whilst being aware of the realities and limitations of her condition. Thank you.
My mother was recently in respite at Barchester Balclutha Court Care Home in Greenock. The overall experience was excellent, from a warm welcome at reception through to every member of staff I encountered being friendly and attentive to my mother. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the food looked very good and activities were available for my mother. Medication was handled professionally and promptly, my mother felt safe within the home and only had praise for all the staff, including management. Should we require respite in the future, Balclutha will be not only ours but my mother’s preferred option. Well done to the manager and all the staff at Balclutha.
I feel most thankful for the care provided. I only have a few "quibbles" which might be considered. why does perfection matter if we lose human contact as a result? Can staff be allowed to get on with what they're doing without interference? They manage better when pairs are required! We would enjoy our meals more if there wasn't pressure to get finished. Let us recognise that we all have value - staff and residents alike.
I cannot recommend the home enough in terms of how it’s run and the care that is provided to the residents; the staff are super friendly and really care about their residents. The activities that they organise are fantastic. Our uncle was well looked after, and the staff took the time to get to know him and what his passions were. The only downside is the rooms don’t have en-suites compared to some of the more modern homes, but the home itself is spotless. This is the second time we’ve had a relative in the home, and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about it.
I am delighted and relieved that my stepfather has settled in Balclutha Court and chose himself not to return home as he wasn't coping with his health issues. He feels happy and secure knowing the staff are always there for support, his health has improved since going there in May 2023. Also, he is enjoying the company of other residents which has enabled him to have a better quality of life with purpose, enjoying the activities and outings. He is so comfortable in his surroundings with a few of his own items from home and new which has helped him settle. I am very grateful to the home manager who accessed him before admission observed him and listened to what he wanted, I feel all of the staff are very professional, friendly, and approachable it's definitely a person-centred home from my experience which my star ratings reflect.
I came to stay at Balclutha Court Care Home in January 2023 - since then I have come to really love staying here. the activities are really good - you get such a good laugh and the company is great. I have made new friends not only with the residents but with the staff too. They really include me with everything going on. I feel like I have been welcomed into a nice big new family here. My own family come and visit me, they can pop in whenever they like, it's brilliant. I have a lovely room with all my personal bits in it and a locker where I can keep things safe. I even have a fridge my brother brought in for me for my juices and snacks. The food is lovely - especially the steak pies and sausage casseroles. The kitchen staff are really attentive and look after me making sure I get something to eat that I like. I'd like to leave a special comment on the girls that help look after me - they are wonderful and I have struck up a few nice relationships with them, they helped me settle in well.
Balclutha Court Care Home is absolutely lovely! From the very first day I went to view the home for my mum I just knew this was the place, the atmosphere as soon as you walk through the doors is so welcoming and friendly, and the staff go above and beyond in their duties with all residents. They give the best care and support to my mum 24/7 and meet her everyday needs. My mum became a resident at the end of March and the turnaround in my mum's eating, communication, interaction and walking is phenomenal, to say the least. Balclutha Care Home is always clean and tidy and every time I have visited the maintenance men/staff are always on the go which is a nice sight to see. Residents always seem very happy and content and enjoying activities and the company of each other, my mum has even gotten used to going to the dining room for her meals now whereas before she wouldn't even eat and joins in with activities. "I couldn't have picked a better care home for my mum to stay".
Mum has now been in Balclutha Court Care Home for about six months and she has settled in well. The staff are great and always say to call them any time if we have any worries or want to speak with Mum. Everyone is so nice and they go out of their way to help. The food is delicious and there is lots of it! The activities ladies are great and we like seeing the pictures they post on social media. This really helps to know that Mum is safe and being looked after as we do not live locally and we can see what the residents are getting up to!
I moved my mum up from England to Balclutha Court in October last year so she could be closer to me as I stay local to the home. The whole team at Balclutha have been excellent and with their great help and knowledge, mums move went flawlessly. My mum loves the home and her room and has settled in very nicely. She enjoys the entertainment provided and also the tea/cake trolley that seems to never stop coming around. All the staff that I have come into contact with are friendly and always have a smile on their face and a hello for you when you go into visit. Mum is always saying that she likes the staff and is always laughing and having a joke with them. Any questions I have raised have been welcomed and answered quickly. Overall I am very impressed with Balclutha who has welcomed and settled my mum into a friendly, caring and safe environment where she loves being. This in turn has made my whole family happy knowing that she is in a safe place and being well looked after.
Balclutha Court, I have great respect for the management and all the staff that work there. I am a regular visitor and I love the warm welcome I get from everyone that works there, they are compassionate and kind, not only to residents but to us that visit too. Always offered tea or coffee when residents get one and sometimes you could be doing with tea when I am there, so thank you. The staff are very helpful whether you are making a payment, or asking any questions you might have regarding your loved one or about Balclutha in general. The nursing staff are very good at informing you about any falls or any questions you might have and it's taken care of immediately, so your loved one's health comes first. The activities director and team are top-notch in all the activities they do with the residents, my stepfather just loves going there. He has a better life and has come on so well with having company and has made so many wonderful gifts for us, at the Activities. Balclutha care home are excellent.
