View Full Details of Westerfield Care HomeI feel my mum is safe & very well looked after. I feel all staff show great respect and kindness when attending to my mum.
My husband has settled well and seems very happy. Staff are lovely to him. He occasionally joins in with activities.
I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning. Basically thinking of how my wife would settle into the care home and it appears to be fine. My son & daughter also share these thoughts. I reckon maybe sometime in the future this might happen to us ah...
My husband went into the care home on the 6th of February and I'm really pleased the home is spotless and staff from management down to domestics are extremely nice it's a very well run care home and was surprised how quick my husband settled. They also have a lot of entertainment and fun with the residents I'm so happy
Since both of us, my wife and I, we have been treated with respect. Cleanliness and wonderful staff. Entertainment excellent, superb staff.
My mother used Westerfield for two weeks of respite care. Staff really friendly and eager to learn about my mother and how best to support her with her vascular dementia. My mother adapted well and was happy to stay in Westerfield.
Looked after him very well. Didn't want for anything. Staff very polite and always willing to help and answer questions.
My mother was admitted to Westerfield after a long spell in hospital, she was welcomed warmly by all the team at Westerfield, from management team to carers to housekeeping to nursing staff to activities to catering. Owing to Mum having specific dietary needs she has gained weight and is loving the daily activities and organised events. Her personal hygiene has improved 100% and also she is more alert and in a better mood owing to social interaction. I am sure her stay here will be most beneficial.
The manager has created from the top down an incredible, extremely hardworking, friendly, caring, fantastic, family-centred (to residents, families and workers) atmosphere. Extremely professional. The home was recommended to me and I have been utterly amazed at the difference in my mum from being very ill in hospital to her now sitting in an adapted chair, dressed, with other residents. Nursing care has been excellent. I cannot praise enough the change for the better in my mum. Thank you to all.
Awful experience overall. We had to involve social services and the care commission. Serious concerns were upheld by the care commission. Some staff tried their best but many did not and management was out of their depth. Avoid.
Sad day in September 2023 when Mum went into a nursing home. The staff are amazing! Mum's spirits have lifted so much as she has company and activities almost every day. The weight has been lifted from my shoulders as the staff knows how to work with dementia residents. Mum has settled into the nursing home very quickly, although she doesn't know she is in a care home. I can recommend this care home as the staff are amazing and they know how to bring a sparkle back into my mum.
First time visiting the care home and was impressed, and my friend who is in the home never looked better.
My Mum was transferred to Westerfield Care Home after a long stay in hospital where she was bedbound for two months. Within 30 minutes of arrival she was sitting on a chair eating her lunch. Within an hour she was helped to the toilet for the first time in 2 months. The next morning she had her first shower in two months, she feels safe and cared for and is improving at a remarkable rate, mentally and physically. Can't praise the wonderful staff enough, they bend over backwards for the residents and their families. If there was an option for a 10-star rating I would award it.
Some improvements are being made at present, which do require to be made. There appears to be a staffing issue, which they say is being addressed. Hopefully, this will be soon as it's not working the way it should at present. Laundry is a big problem as it getting clothes returned to the correct people! This care home could be very good with staff/management who really care.
Our mum was admitted to Westerfield Care Home in March 2021 after a long stay in hospital recovering from a stroke and Covid 19. The manager and staff went to great lengths to help our mum feel welcome and settle into her new surroundings. The home is very professionally run. The manager is always on hand to answer any questions we have if needed. My sister and I are very happy with the care provided for our mum and feel she is in a very safe and secure environment. Mum has Lewy Body Dementia and staff are very understanding of this and take time to communicate with her. The home is clean and mums clothes laundered at all times. Catering staff are great and menu well varied. We feel there is always a happy atmosphere in the home and staff always smiling.
Terrible experience with most of the staff. My mum waited nine and a half hours for an ambulance on New Year's Eve, eventually, they dialled a 999 ambulance, called us and told us to meet them at the hospital as Mum had deteriorated. Sadly, Mum passed away on 27th January. Many times, she never had a drink in the room or a water jug, she was extremely dehydrated, had a urine infection, which then lead to urosepsis. Glad my mum is at peace and not going back to that place.
Mum moved into Westerfield at the end of May 2020. During the Covid pandemic, we have been unable to visit Mum inside the home but have outside. The difference in our Mum is unbelievable. She has dementia and stayed in sheltered housing with carers coming in 4 times a day and family there most of the day, in between being in and out of hospital. As a family, we cannot believe the difference in her. She is happy, safe and has even put weight on. The care she is getting is second to none and the relief for us, as a family, is amazing. We cannot praise the staff enough - they are so caring and helpful. Mum is very content and for us, as a family, we can’t express our gratitude enough to the carers.
Our mum was admitted here in December last year, the manager, and her staff are approachable, caring, and extremely professional. Mum has vascular dementia, and during this pandemic, staff have been working extremely hard ensuring communication continues with mum. Mum's clothes are perfectly laundered, the meal choices are great, her bedroom is spotless. The staff goes above and beyond and the most important thing is how much mum relates to them. Our family of five daughters can’t fault anything and it was a godsend mum was fortunate enough to be placed in this wonderful care home. Thank you to each and every one of you.
My mother has only been in the home for 5-6 weeks but so far our family are very happy with the care provided.
I have visited my partner on a regular basis since he was admitted to Westerfield Care Home. I find it has a very homely feeling about it. Spotlessly clean, happy residents, lots of activities that residents are active in. Meals are varied and of good portions depending on residents appetite. The staff have a good rapport with residents. Safety is good, coded door and unit entries.
