View Full Details of Chester Park Care HomeMy Mum was a short-term resident at Chester Park Intermediate Care Unit, having been discharged from GRI when her condition deteriorated. Despite being not very responsive and unable to care for herself, the care and attention she received from the ICU staff was outstanding, as was the empathy and understanding shown to me and our family. It was made clear that nothing was too much trouble and it was a huge comfort seeing my Mum’s dignity and respect being maintained during her stay. The ICU team was extremely caring, accommodating, and professional in their work. I could see the interactions with other residents and all were very happy, well-treated, and looked after. The residents were very communicative and satisfied with their environment, with the food supplied and entertainment provided. It was humbling to speak with the lady in charge of it and her team and see how determined they were to do their best for all residents and relatives and they deserve nothing but the highest praise and respect.
We were very happy with the care our mum received at Chester Park. The staff were friendly and welcoming on her arrival and kind and caring during her stay. Unfortunately, her room was in need of refurbishment and the bathroom was unsuitable for patient rehabilitation as it lacked a shower and made mobility difficult. There was a very strong smell of urine in the bathroom.
My mother spent four weeks in intermediate care unit after hospital. The care and attention of the staff in ICU was second to none and the communication with us was excellent. All the staff make my mother, and us, very welcome at all times and we were grateful to them. Top marks!
The current manager and nurses show excellent leadership, compassion and care at all times. The carers provide person-centred care and again have compassion and dedication, even in difficult times. The cleaning staff also show great care and compassion, they don’t just clean, same to be said for maintenance staff. The social coordinators make every effort to personalise and engage residents at all times. The staff are what truly make Chester Park a good experience for residents and families.
My father is here and from the Intermediate Care Unit to his now Permanent Care Area, all aspects of his care have been excellent. The staff are amazing with him and totally professional. I couldn't have picked anywhere better or caring. Absolutely no complaints.
Care not to be faulted on the whole though issues in the past managing stoma. Communication lacking though, for example, no visitors allowed since 12th March due to Covid 19, but to date no phone call or text or email or letter to let relatives know. Missed social events through not being kept informed. Items removed from room without permission and never returned - tower fan, folding chairs and folding table. Entry via front door difficult due to buzzer being unanswered in a timely manner, not pleasant to stand in cold wet weather waiting on response. Guardianship taken over by Oakminster resulting in state of mothers' finances and expenses taken from them becoming unknown, lack of transparency over residents 'spending money'. Large expenditure to refit 'Hub Of The Home' whilst some residents rooms remained in need of upgrade and some very squeaky floorboards require attention. Staff pleasant, in particular night shift very attentive. Mum happy on the whole and safe here.
The intermediate care has been good to assess my husband's needs. Staff have been attentive and helpful. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and this was helped by room decorations. Flexible visiting meant I could come to help him settle at bedtime, bring a friend to see him and bring some music in for him.
Staff very friendly and took great care of my mother on short stay at Intermediate Care Unit.
I am very happy at the service which was provided and the staff have a very caring and attentive manner.
Caring staff. Good management. Good at communicating changes in my mother's condition. Polite carers.
One of the best decisions I made was to place my mother in residence at Chester Park Care. She was in residence for eight years, and I have absolutely no complaints about the care and attention that she received in all of this time. The majority of the staff are long-serving, and to me, this says a lot, especially for a care home. There were a few occasions when staffing levels were lower than expected, however, the staff always managed to cope. There is an extensive refurbishment programme going on at present throughout various areas within the buildings, but it does not impact on the care of the residents. I have no hesitation in recommending Chester Park Care Home.
I have found the staff to be very helpful in all aspects. They have been very good at caring for my mum and when I was upset they were there for me too. They show a lot of patience and understanding.
My mum stayed in the Intermediate Care Unit at Chester Park for 28 days. My mum was very anxious initially but the staff made her feel very welcome. She received excellent care from all the staff including doctors, physios, nurses and carers. She even enjoyed the food. I would definitely recommend the Intermediate Care Unit at Chester Park.
I found Chester Park Care Home friendly and caring, although rushed off their feet. The facilities were comfortable and allowed relatives the freedom to relax with their family. It's a demanding job and the staff are up to the task.
On entering the building we were always welcomed with a friendly face and a smile. My mother in law was very content in ICU and well looked after, hopefully she will be as happy in the care home.
Very good care. Staff are kind, considerate and helpful. Only one thing - clothes have gone missing because there were no name tags on. Not told about name tags.
Our mother was looked after with care and attention. She was provided with help to assist her in her future needs.
My mother was treated with care and respect. The staff kept us up to date on a daily basis. The staff clearly very hard and as far as I am concerned they couldn't do enough for my mum.
Overall impression of this care home is very favourable. It should be noted that due to travel distance involved opinions/ratings are based on relatively infrequent visits.
We are overall very happy with Chester Park. The staff have been fantastic and my Mum settled in very well. We, as a family, were also made very welcome.
