View Full Details of Morningside Care HomeWe were able to take Mum out for a wee lunch at times and she was always ready to come back here, which was not the case at her previous home. When visiting Mum, she was always happy and loved all the staff who cared and looked after her. I can't fault anything with her care at all. I would like to thank everyone involved with my mum, it was deeply appreciated by all the family. Thanks again.
It was a home-from-home for my mum. She was in her element here, with all the activities which she could join in or not depending on her. Anytime we visited she was always happy and well looked after. Room was immaculate and the people very caring. I can't thank them enough on how they dealt with the family when my mum died.
Only complaint is length of time it takes for assistance to attend the toilet. Possibly purchase another stand aid to solve this problem
Initially, my Dad did not want to stay in a care home of any kind, however, he needed 24-hour care which I could no longer give. Due to the hard work of the team and the care given, my Dad has now settled and is enjoying life once again. He has a better social life than us. A big thank you to everyone.
Great staff, everyone is welcoming when my papa first arrived, lovely meals and cafe 41 is great. We’re allowed to visit anytime which is great for everyone’s schedules and we decorated his room so he feels more homely. They just introduced 2 new little kittens which I’m so excited to see around the home and shop.
Morningside Care Home is such a homely and caring care home. I cannot thank the staff enough as they go above and beyond. My mother-in-law has only been here for a few weeks but she has settled in and we know when we are leaving her she is happy and feels very content and safe. They do lots of things to stimulate the residents and also include the resident's families which I think is such a good thing. Keep doing what you are doing as it’s working.
It has been a long time since we have seen my grandma so happy and relaxed she is right at home the facilities offered are amazing for both residents and families when visiting, my children are so relaxed visiting their great grandma and it is a joy to visit. Staff are always very helpful. Thank you to all staff
Mum moved to Morningside Care Home at the end of May 2023. Since moving here, Mum has found a happy home where all the staff are friendly. It is a joy to see Mum partaking in the daily activities and coming out of her room. Staff at Morningside go above and beyond to make sure residents are healthy and happy. Mum is enjoying the meals that are provided and staff make sure that she is drinking plenty of fluids. The garden is great for residents and families to sit out in the sunshine. Highly recommend Morningside Care Home
Dad became a resident at Morningside Care Home following an awful stay in hospital. From the very first day, he was treated with dignity and respect, as were we as his family. The care home is bright and welcoming and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great activities coordinator who, along with the staff, ensures there are lots of things happening within the care home, but on the day's dad didn't want to participate, the staff spent time with him on his own and regularly checked he was OK. Christmas time was made particularly special, with concerts and a great party. Unfortunately, Dad had to go back into hospital during very difficult circumstances and the staff could not have facilitated the transfer with more care for both him and us. Dad was only a resident at Morningside for 4 months but during that time he became part of their family and we will be forever grateful for the care he received there.
The staff are fantastic. Both environment and all staff are caring and friendly. If it wasn't for Morningside my dad wouldn't be here today. They look after him so so well. The staff are very approachable about everything. Dad's room is always clean and warm.
My mum has been in Morningside Care Home for a year and a half and in that time I have seen changes and real efforts to improve the quality of care. Staff shortages were a real problem and that was a concern for me as I worried that agency staff didn't know the residents and that had implications for their care. However, I'm very pleased that there is a new manager in place now and it's reassuring to know that she has worked tirelessly to recruit new staff as well as generally improve areas which needed attention. I have got to know the regular staff members well in the time my mum has been a resident. They are so kind and helpful and when I visit I am always happy to witness their patience and understanding as they care for the residents. I know what a challenging job it can be and it means everything to me to know that my mum is being looked after and made to feel safe and content.
Very welcoming, very friendly people and professional staff. Find the home clean, tidy and great to see the residents up and about and doing activities. Great assets to home, such as the cinema and games console.
My mum was moved to Morningside Care Home to spend the final months of her life. When she came to Morningside, she thrived due to the care, love and support she received. She told me on every visit how wonderful the staff were and what a wonderful place the care home was. We were able to enjoy much more time than we expected with my aunt, which was entirely due to the excellent care she received from everybody - housekeepers, laundry staff, catering and care staff. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Staff very professional kind and caring. Very informative always approach us and keep us informed. Nice environment and always welcoming when we are visiting our mum. Would love mum to participate more but this is up to her. Not a reflection on the staff they try hard to get her involved.
My sister entered Morningside Care Home in November '21. It was a harrowing time for her and I as she experienced the loss of her home and neighbours. I was racked with guilt but soon admitted she needed a team behind her and not just me. Having been born with special needs and now suffering from Vascular Dementia her future care was of great importance to me. Morningside had been recommended to me and as it was near my home it was the perfect place. She was welcomed from the start by lovely carers and nurses who gave her the dignity and care she required. A growing rapport between herself and individual staff members became apparent and she enjoyed having fun with them. She loved the food and her own things around. After a cancer diagnosis things quickly changed. The staff were caring, compassionate, respectful, and always available to talk with me when required. I was happy with the respect they showed my sister too and this helped me greatly as she passed away. Many thanks.
My mother, after serious consideration by our family, went into this care home in February 21. We looked after our mum until we could no longer provide for her needs. Mum had vascular dementia. She died in September '21. During her time in the care home, there were a number of issues brought to the then manager's attention, which never really got resolved. Mum was given cold food on at least 4 occasions that we were aware of, she was dressed in other people's clothes, she was not provided with a proactive support plan, relating to her poor mobility. She was "abused" and a staff member was dismissed under the protection of vulnerable adults, there were issues in relation to her being prescribed medication that meant she was unable to function and the manager stated she was tired! I raised all my complaints with the Scottish Social Services Council after mum died as there was no support offered by Thistle, the overarching organisation. I have since had it confirmed by the SSSC that all my complaints have been upheld.
My relative has been left in a horrible state on arrival, facing away from her TV and facing looking out the doorway, not as if anything exciting is happening out there. She has to hurt her back to watch the TV. She is also a high falls risk however, it has taken a number of complaints for a pressure matt to be put in place. Catheter packets including scissors have been left out in arms reach of my relative to which she would be inclined to have a look through and would result in an accident. My relative had also been unwell however she was left with her back to an opened window with wet hair which could have resulted in her becoming very ill. Even though I have phoned before arriving every visit, I am yet to arrive to a visit where my relative is actually up and dressed. I have also walked in at 11.50 to find my relative hadn't even had breakfast and they were bringing it to her on my arrival. Her catheter care has been absolutely shocking and disgusting, I can't begin to explain the horror.
To everyone that has a parent or relative that has a debilitating illness such as Dementia and that if professional care is required, I would highly recommend Morningside Care Home, as my late father realised, it was a heartbreaking decision to make to see his beloved wife go into care. This terrible illness that Mom had, had taken it's toll on the Ffmily, but rest assured if you are looking for a care home that provides all the best possible needs, I can rest assure you Morningside Care Home is one of the best care homes you will find. The family realised it was the best decision Dad made for his beloved wife to be looked after professionally by this outstanding care home. The care provided over the last last 7 years was outstanding, sadly Mom passed on the 7th September 2021, teh family chose for Mom to pass in the bedroom she has lived in over these years and at the time of Mom passing the managerial and caring staff were so supportive and caring. Mom will be missed by all.
My mother entered Morningside Care Home at probably the staff's most difficult time facing how to support and keep, not only residents safe, but also themselves whilst trying to carry on as normal as restrictions allowed and trying to make up for the lack of visitors and usual services permitted into the home. Not only did they welcome and support my mother but gave support to me, not only face to face, but also over the telephone without making me feel a pest. As things have opened up and Mum has been allowed out of the home, there is always a warm welcome from the staff on her return and a cup of tea is never far away. In relation to any health issues these are dealt with speedily and feedback to me is excellent. To sum up I can now relax knowing that my mother is being well cared for and no longer at risk, her physical health has improved and she is in an environment where she is accepted and listened to. Many thanks to the whole team that makes this service a home.
Honest, reliable and safe environment for my mum. First-class communications, and service - 10 out of 10.
