View Full Details of Whitehills Care HomeMy cousin wasn't in very long but all the staff made her feel welcome and did everything to help settle her in. Can't thank the staff enough. They do an amazing job.
I previously left a review on this care home stating I was unhappy with the management, this was aimed at Thistle Health Ltd and not the actual Management who work there day to day. Since the new manager started she has done everything we asked to get the best possible care for our relative. We have no problems with her and will be sad to see her leave the care home.
Our dear mum went into Whitehills Care Home in September 2019. It was a difficult time for her and the family as she was suffering from dementia. The staff were and have always been full of care and attention for Mum. As a family, we got to know many of the staff and they were always welcoming and friendly. Mum wasn't always the easiest of residents for the carers and nursing staff but their professionalism shone through and they were always able to settle Mum. The home is clean and the food is well-cooked. Right up to the end, Mum scoffed down everything! Mum was always clean and dressed when we visited and seemed to be comfortable and content. Sadly we lost Mum last week after 5 years which is heartbreaking but the manager and all the staff have been so kind to us. It's so clear how much they care for their residents. I would recommend Whitehills to anyone facing the difficult decision of putting a loved one into care.
My mum is a particularly difficult resident, to say the least, but this doesn’t stop the staff from continuing to give her the best of care and encouragement. I have heard the kind way staff talk to the residents even when they don’t know I’m there. The staff have also helped me deal with the difficult situation of having my parent in a care home and are very supportive and have suggested coping mechanisms which have really helped me. The medical team keep me informed at times of any medication alterations and keeps a detailed log which they are happy to share at any time. Everyone is really friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending Whitehills Care Home.
All staff are very friendly professional and caring. Even meeting the staff outside of the home they know who you are it's like being part of a family. Staff are always trying to improve things like changing the menu with the help of residents and families to provide meals that the residents want to eat.
I can visit my dad at anytime during the day and have been in most days since he became a resident. The office staff, nurses, carers and all other staff are always very friendly and welcoming when you visit. I am always kept up to date with anything regarding my dad and the nurse is always advising me of any problems. I am very happy with the care and attention given to my dad since he arrived. I feel as if I actually have my proper dad back now as he is now a different person from what he was. He is now getting 24-hour care, getting washed and having three good meals a day. I am very happy with all the care and attention given to him and in his own words 'I am loving it here and everyone is so nice'. The staff all do a fantastic job and are worked very hard at times but are always happy.
All staff have been very welcoming to not only my papa but myself and my children. Any problems or requests are dealt with promptly and I am kept up to date with all information regarding the care of my papa. My papa is also very happy with the care he receives and has built some wonderful friendships with staff and residents since his arrival.
My partner really likes the home and is a lot happier all staff are amazing and friendly and very helpful also the management are amazing they also keep you updated with what’s gapping in the home thanks to them my partner is happier now.
This care home has been very good at meeting my mother-in-law's quite complex needs. Communication has been excellent particularly updates when my mother-in-law has been unwell and had to see the doctor or go to hospital. Staff do an excellent job in spending time with residents and encouraging them to move as much as possible. My mother-in-law has been incredibly complimentary about the food which is great for us to hear. Rooms are always very clean and staff are always polite and friendly. Having a relative in a care home often causes a lot of anxiety but this has been reduced by the great staff at Whitehills.
My aunt unfortunately was only in the home for a very short period of time but the staff before, during and after her stay were so helpful to us and explained everything clearly making the whole process so much easier than we thought. The nursing staff in particular were very attentive and made sure my aunt received the care she needed. I cannot fault anything about the home or the people there.
Although my brother was in the care home for weeks the staff from his first day were excellent. He was well looked after. The staff took time to discuss him during our visits and making sure he was comfortable and settling into his new surroundings.
The lady I am a foster carer for has respite breaks in this home. She is so well cared for and they provide a seamless service in accordance with my provided care plan. She has made friends thanks to the support of staff and her days are filled with concerts, hobbies, music and crafts. I myself have 40 years of working in various care settings via NHS and Local Government so I feel well equipped to judge what is a good establishment, ergo, I am compelled to give praise where I feel it’s due. This is one of few places that recognise the need for respite provision in order that carers can sustain the resident at home longer than if they had no help. Praise to the Matron and her staff as they have excellent attitudes towards the people who use this service, not an easy task and especially in the current situation we now find ourselves in with such poor service from NHS to support other care providers since the pandemic. High standards are difficult but Whitehills meet my expectations.
My father was a resident within Whitehills Care Home until he recently passed away. I cannot speak highly enough of all the social care and nursing staff. They provided a high level of support and care for him through a very difficult period of time and made him feel comfortable throughout. The staff also provided significant support for my extended family, who had to travel from elsewhere in the UK and made sure they were looked after whenever they visited. As a family we are happy my father spent his last days in such a caring place. Many thanks
I would visit on different days and times - no specific schedule. My aunt was always clean, dressed and well-presented. The home always looked and smelled clean. The staff always welcoming. My aunt was looked after really well and the staff engaged her with fondness and respect. At the end-of-life vigil, the staff were phenomenal, not just with my aunt but with the family sitting vigil. Thank you to all.
My mum recently passed away in Whitehills Care Home. During her stay there (just over three years). the staff couldn't have cared for her more. As a family, we will be eternally grateful for the love and attention shown during her time there. They were so respectful at the end too, ensuring she left with as much dignity as when she arrived.
My mum became a resident in January 2020 just as Covid was starting. The staff organised so much for the residents to participate in. They stopped the days being so long. My mum sadly passed away on the 17th of February 2023 and as she declined she was given so much care and respect from all the team. I cannot recommend highly enough.
The love, care and respect given to my aunt during her active time in the home but especially during the six days of her end of life. The support provided to her family is priceless.
I'm satisfied with basic general care, though, despite numerous emails from me, my mother's specific personal care is still far from what it should be. For example, being left overnight on occasion with no toilet paper or/and paper towels in her bathroom. How do I know? When leaving on different nights after visiting, I pointed this out, only to be told they were completely out of toilet rolls, or that only the day shift had access to supplies. This was later contradicted by another staff member, so the choir aren't singing from the same hymn sheet. Also, despite being told my mother's hearing aids would be checked every two hours (after complaints from me that sometimes there weren't even any batteries in them, etc), there have since been instances where the battery compartments have been left open, thereby reducing or obliterating their effectiveness. Some staff are friendly and helpful, others less so. Some try, some don't, going by the inconsistent results.
Mum has settled into the home and happy with the staff as if they are family. We, as a family, cannot express our gratitude to the very hard work that the staff and management put in daily - fantastic teamwork. Thank you all.
Very good home and very clean.
