View Full Details of Hallhouse Care HomeSince moving to Hallhouse Care Home my dad's physical and emotional health has turned around significantly. He came to the care home from hospital and needed a zimmer to walk. He also was very depressed and lonely. The staff have embraced him and his needs to such a high standard. He now does yoga every Monday and takes part in all the activities and has made friends for the first time in years. He has attended social clubs, event days, boat trips and the residents go out regularly for afternoon tea and much more. He also loves the afternoon cake and coffee trolley and the tuck shop that has been introduced. If any issues have arose, the staff have resolved them quickly. For instance when I was concerned that he was losing weight a food and fluid diary was promptly put in place and my dad given more encouragement at meal times. We, as a family, have got the old dad back that we thought had been lost for good and we can't thank the staff at Hallhouse enough.
Having previously had my father-in-law as a resident in Hallhouse (2023). I knew I wanted the same standard of care for my mum when a few months ago we had to make the decision to move her to a care home. She herself rates it 5 stars plus, and she or I have no concerns whatsoever, the place is spotless, has a very welcoming feeling, staff can't do enough for the residents. My mum did worry a wee bit about going into the unknown (normal emotion, even in a younger person) but this place has turned her life around she is so happy, loves being kept busy with activities and outings, and loads of people to talk too, and the meals always look and smell lovely and my mum reports that it's always delicious. We as a family, would highly recommend Hallhouse Care Home.
Hallhouse Care Home at Fenwick is a wonderful place. I am very glad I have chosen it for my wife. All the staff are wonderful, from administration, nursing, caring, kitchen and last but not least, the housekeeping and cleaning staff, I could not speak any more highly of them all. The patience, compassion and love they show and give my wife and all other residents are just great. I am ever so pleased my wife is in their care.
The last year has been extremely traumatic for our family due to the steep and sudden decline in my husband's health. He came to Hallhouse in February after 4.5 months in hospital and has adjusted well. From the housekeeping staff to higher management, the care, respect and support afforded to both of us has been second to none. The staff are friendly and approachable and are quick to resolve any issues or concerns. My husband is a relatively young man, his behaviour at times can be challenging but everyone has got to know him and gently cajole him into a better way of thinking which really gives me the reassurance and peace of mind I need when I can't be with him.
I am very happy with the staff, they are excellent caregivers. The rooms are nice and well-presented. There are plenty of activities to keep the residents busy.
Staff are always happy to discuss any problems or issues and are always resolved very quickly. Good informal inclusive atmosphere. All staff have very good engagement with residents. A regular meeting takes place with management and residents, where all are encouraged to raise any points on their mind. Nice peaceful setting too.
Lovely open-air lounge for the residents. The staff always welcoming and willing to address issues or queries. Regular activities to entertain residents and encourage participation. Residents are treated with care and dignity.
We continue to be very happy with the service and level of care provided to our relative. The staff are kind and jolly with the residents and recent permanent additions to the staff have improved the service. The home is clean, warm and comfortable. Nurses have a good knowledge of the care required by residents. There are plenty of opportunities for residents’ participation in activities. Communication with families and links with the wider community is improved. The manager has plans to improve the environment and facilities and has shared these at a group meeting for relatives. The home is showing an awareness of continuing improvement. We feel confident that our relative has good care at Hallhouse Care Home.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this care home despite it being one of the highest rating in Ayrshire at the time my father took up residence. There have been a number of issues including personal care, dignity, records not being updated, being overcharged and taking months to refund, and the high turnover of staff which I believe is the root of the problem. There have been 3 managers (hence my low score on management which includes also the owners) and deputy managers in 12 months and other staff leaving regularly (including at least 2 activity managers) which would obviously cause management issues however nothing seems to be improving. I would move my dad but due to his health, I fear that it would do more harm than good.
I am happy with the care my mother receives, however, I am not sure what (if any) stimulation, i.e activities and/or conversations she is getting on a daily basis. It is not a criticism of the staff, who seem to be stretched beyond belief, it is an observation. I keep giving the same feedback every time I complete these surveys but nothing ever changes,
The staff are very kind and make you feel comfortable. The nursing staff are excellent. I rate the care home the best in the area, that is why I picked it, and I have spread the word.
My mother has been in for over three years. New management again. Massive difference now in the nursing home and not for the good.
As my wife was a new resident and I did not know what to expect. The initial reaction was good, but it became obvious that the staff/resident ratio did not seem adequate for the different needs of individual residents. This was noticeable in the safety/security area. In fairness to Hallhouse, recent measures have been taken to address this issue with the installation of electronic security systems within. This only leaves the staff/resident ratio issue to be addressed, although COVID has probably played a part in this. The motivation and willingness of staff was of high quality.
Staff are very friendly and informative. Spotlessly clean. Plenty of resident entertainment.
My mum, who has dementia, has only been in the care system for six weeks, but during that time, I have been very impressed with the level of care shown to her. Every member of staff has been extremely friendly and professional, and they are very good at keeping me informed of any developments regarding my mum's well-being. Overall, I am very pleased with the high standard of cleanliness and organisation, and I feel Hallhouse Care Home is a good example of a well-run facility for our loved ones.
Please consider this home carefully. It does not live up to the reputation given. There is insufficient staff for residents' requirements, no entertainment, etc. Yes, covid is given as the reason for this but charges are the same despite food quality, etc being poorer than advertised.
My wife went into your home with vascular dementia and the staff in my view are a lot of "top notchers". They just have connected with my wife, so I will say keep up the great work you are doing. Thank yous.
My mum was admitted in November and received excellent care from all staff during her stay. Because of Covid it was not always easy to visit, but the staff did everything they could to facilitate visits. particularly in the last few days when the home was in lockdown.
Unfortunately, the last 2 years of my Grampas 3 year stay has been during Covid. This has made all the care home scenarios so much more difficult. I find the staff very friendly and caring. The kitchen food provided is excellent. Sometimes there can be small issues but they are dealt with very well. This is a nice home that I would recommend.
Staff are generally consistent and through conversation know the residents well. They provide reassurance to families and our professional and helpful. Office staff deal with any queries re visiting etc efficiently. Room seems bright, clean and well-appointed. Menu seems varied and my mother enjoys the food prepared.
