View Full Details of Springhill Nursing HomeThe care home is everything we could ask for our Mum at this stage of her life. The staff are great and my Mum is as happy as she could be.
Our Mum has been in Springhill for a short time and has settled in really well. The staff are pleasant and caring and treat Mum with respect. After only a few days Mum was joining in with activities and interacting with other residents which is having a positive effect. Staff always take time to make us feel welcome and keep us informed on what Mum has been up to. Mum is safe and has been taken care of to a high standard which gives us peace of mind.
The frontline care workers who deal with Mum are wonderful; she is comfortable and happy with them all and that is the most important aspect of any care home - the care. So, 5 stars for the staff. I didn't give full marks for cleanliness because her room often has the same debris on the floor for several days on end but her own cleanliness and that of her carers is meticulously seen to. I would have given the full 5 stars for 'Dignity' if she always received back her own laundry and her room was tidied up a bit more regularly. 3 stars only for food and drink, on the day of writing, she received no breakfast and when a cup of tea finally arrived, it had sugar in it and she has often told the folk who serve her that she doesn't take sugar! These little incidents are not uncommon. The management has been poor, but I believe new management is in place, so I will make no further comment at present to give them a chance. I hope communications will improve. Thank you.
The nursing and care workers are excellent and very friendly. Entertainment is good. The home decor is a bit tired, it could do with an upgrade. I can't comment on the meals as I have not been when they are served. Would I put a family member in here? Possibly.
My husband's aunt has been so content and happy since being in the care of Springhill Care Home staff. She is always clean and tidy and gets her done regularly. She loves all the food they provide giving her a lot of variety. The staff try their best to provide entertainment (quiz time, painting, musical visitors who can sing and play instruments). She has been in the care for 16 months now. Weare so happy to have peace of mind.
My mother was a resident in Springhill for 11 months having recently passed away. The staff at the home are wonderful in their dedication to the level of care they provide. The manager and her team are an amazing group of people who made my mother's last months extremely comfortable and very safe. They took the time to get to know her so that they could give her the very best of their care, and in my opinion, they gave the highest level of care and support possible not only to my mother but they extended their support to my husband and me during the difficult last few days of her life. Thank you is not enough for these dedicated professionals who care for their residents and go the extra mile to do all they can for them and their families. Thank you is just not enough, they will forever have my greatest respect and gratitude for all they did.
Some significant improvements to the service since the introduction of new management team. I really can’t fault the quality of care and the nursing and care staff which is exceptional. Recent changes to the catering team have shot up the approval ratings of the residents with quality and options being first class. Still some improvements to come from the ancillary services like laundry and exercise, as well as decor and garden facilities, but there is progress.
My mother has been resident in Springhill for around eighteen months now, during which time my dad also passed away (whist also resident there). The ongoing care, friendliness of staff and overall attitude towards my mum is excellent. I was unwell for a period during September this year, resulting in a hospital stay. During my convalescence period, I was able to fully concentrate on my own health in the knowledge that Mum was happy, safe and secure - what more could I ask for! Of course, like any residential home there are small areas that could do with improvement, but nothing in my opinion that impacts negatively on the day to day wellbeing of Mum's life. I am delighted that we were able to secure a place for Mum and Dad when they both needed to make the move, one of the hardest decisions in my life - but one I have not regretted.
Much better situation in the home since a new manager took over. Much better communication. Room for some improvement - decor on Mum's floor is badly in need of updating. Residents entering other residents' rooms too often and taking and moving things. A few of Mum's things have gone missing, albeit things I couldn't label - lost watch and remote control. I appreciate a difficult situation to control, still feel on occasion no contact with carers on visits even just for an update on what Mum has been doing. I do probably visit at bad times - when busy getting sorted for the night shift.
Lovely care home. Carers are so good.
I am sitting writing this in tears. When my husband went into Springhill I had chosen it out of all the care homes offered to me at the time thinking it was the best around and have to say was very impressed with it at that time. What a big mistake that has been. There is always problems, staff shortage and staff tired and run off their feet. Agency staff brought in and couldn't care less. They are only there for the money. Three times more than what the care home staff are paid, it's awful. The care home staff are lovely and try so hard which I very much appreciate and my husband gets on well with them (except when he has a bad day). I thank each and every one of them for the care they give my husband under the awful circumstances they are expected to work in (big lack of permanent staff). However my loyalty is to my husband and I am really worried about the care he receives because of the lack of staff and feel it is time this is seriously looked at by Silverline or whoever owns it now.
My dad went into Springhill care home after we lost my mum in March this year. He has been so happy since going in. The staff are very attentive to all his needs, and nothing is too much trouble. My dad is a very fussy eater, but the staff always make sure he has something to eat that he likes. My dad has only been in for a few months, but staff have built a good relationship with him already; as if he's been there for years.
My father has been in Springhill for approx two years. He is happy, well-fed and very content. I have every confidence in staff and management and feel he is being well looked after.
My mum is in Lavender in Springhill, and I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after her during this last year. She is always lovely dressed, and her room is always immaculate. I can phone anytime, and the girls are always so friendly and can tell me how my mum is doing, best care home.
Mum was in Springhill Nursing Home for one year, during that time she was treated with respect, love, genuine care and affection. A lovely bedroom excellent food and a full social calendar. I and my family/friends were afforded the same feelings of being welcomed. We tried to be with mum at the end, but this wasn't possible, however, one of her loving carers sat with her and held her hand. The medical care was also excellent.
The staff in Lavendar area are fab and deserve a medal. All are very attentive and look after mum so well. My sister and I appreciate this so much as mum is hard work sometimes (think only with us). Any way I would recommend Springhill (which I have done) to friends. After viewing other homes we found this one to be the No1 home. Thank you.
My Mum, who suffers from dementia, moved into Springhill last year following a failed placement in another care home and a 13-week stay in a hospital. Although her dementia is getting worse, the improved standard of care she is now receiving means that her levels of distress and agitation are much reduced. The management and staff at Springhill achieve a rare balance of professionalism and kindness. Staff training and procedures are excellent, but the staff themselves are still allowed to be human and treat residents with affection. Everyone from the manager, to nursing/care staff, entertainment and cleaning staff take the trouble to notice my Mum as an individual. And while Mum isn't always able to participate fully in the available activities, a real effort is made to provide baking, music and visits from children, etc. I've seen another care home which looked fine on paper but didn't deliver in practice, so can appreciate the work that goes into delivering both at Springhill.
I have seen a great improvement in my brother since coming to Springhill Nursing Home.
My mum has recently spent 2 weeks in Springfield for respite care. She was very anxious prior to this, her fears and anxiety were immediately dealt with on arrival by the reassuring, friendly and empathetic member of staff who greeted us. The room was welcoming and homely with small touches making it more personal. My mum settled in well and has benefitted from her short stay, this I put down to the excellent food and stimulation of a variety of activities available. The staff are so friendly, helpful and flexible and made this first experience as a positive one for both my mum and myself. Thanks to all involved.
All changes have been good. My auntie is very happy here and likes all the staff. They are all very approachable.
