View Full Details of Spiers Care HomeWe moved my dad to Spiers Care Home from another home and he is settling in well due to the staff, the setting and feeling of being cared for. We know he is safe and will be well looked after in Spiers. His dementia is progressing very quickly and is variable day to day. Staff are responsive and attentive and communicate anything to us promptly. We know we are doing the right thing by him and we ourselves have peace of mind now after what has a been a very traumatic few months for everyone.
Delighted to attend Spiers Care Home and see the recent improvements and various activities in place which can only enhance the resident's lives. There is a lovely vibrant, friendly atmosphere in the home which now feels much more like 'home'. The staff are super friendly and the residents are enjoying the ongoing daily events taking place. The rooms are immaculate, standard is high.
I have nothing but praise for the staff of Spiers Care Home. From the day my mum went into the day she sadly passed the staff were amazing. The cleaners keep the home very clean and tidy. The carers are more than helpful and treated my mum with respect at all times. the nurses do a great job and are more than willing to discuss any concerns you have. When we were informed that my mum had taken a turn for the worse the staff couldn't do enough for us as we sat around her bed. Right up to the end, they were all amazing. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.
My mum has Alzheimer's, is a stroke survivor and has been resident at Spiers for 6 months. I moved her from her previous care home as she wasn't receiving the person-centred care she required. Within days of arriving at Spiers my mum's whole demeanour totally changed for the better. She no longer had the fearful, anxious expression which had become the norm for her. She was settled and had developed a zest and curiosity for life again. Within 2 weeks she had been referred to the SALT team, re-evaluated and her diet changed. This led to my mum receiving the proper nutrition and subsequently has led to healthy weight gain. She is always clean and tidy, her room is spotless and she is encouraged to be as independent as her condition allows. Staff are approachable and helpful. The lounges are bright and spacious. I know my mum is being looked after to the high standard everyone in a care setting should be. I recommend Spiers to any family concerned about their loved one going into care.
Dear sir(s), where do I start? The staff are rude when answering questions, called into question my honesty, left my mum with a broken leg for 5 days! which was swept under the carpet. I'm told on the phone I don't need to book a window visit which I booked anyway then when I appeared I am told twice I need to book a window visit. Calling me a liar, it's not on. I have observed how my mum is left in bed on her own staring at a wall. It's only when I've been there I've asked that my mum if awake be sat up looking outside. The room looks like a public toilet from the outside with the bright yellow cone for cleaning in progress in front of my mum all day. It is an outrage. I wouldn't mind if the staff showed me some respect I assure you they would get it back, the staff are not my mum's bosses they are her carers. I urge you to remedy the situation, all I ask is the staff to answer the phone politely, no just nothing, then "hello" no name, nothing, and my mum is allowed to look outside. Kind regards.
Since moving into Spiers in December last year, my mother-in-law has been very well looked after and enjoys her time there. We, as a family, are kept informed of every aspect of her care and wellbeing, and we can see she is well cared for by a lovely team of staff. Nothing is a problem for any staff member, and it is lovely to see Mum happy where she is!
My brother and I have been very happy with the care and attention that my mother is receiving in Spiers Care Home. It has been difficult to give an accurate review due to the pandemic, as we have only been able to visit inside the home a couple of times, as my mum was admitted in November 2020, but so far, she is very happy and content, and the care has been wonderful.
From our first enquiry, I have found Spiers management and staff to be helpful, open and extremely caring towards Mum and our family. Deciding during a pandemic that Mum needed more care than we could provide was difficult but made much easier with Spiers support. Mum is well, settled, and constantly smiles when we see her. She is always dressed well, clean and tidy, enjoys meals, and we are delighted with Spiers Care.
When Mum went into Spiers, November 2020, and at that time she was unable to walk, had constant falls, was not eating and drinking and unable to wash. Since then, Mum has improved physically and mentally beyond belief. I barely recognise her. Mum is walking steadily with a zimmer frame, is enjoying wonderfully prepared hearty meals and gets herself washed and dressed in the morning. The understanding, care and love the staff at Spiers have given her has been exceptional. The staff treat all the residents and their families as if they were there own family and create a warm and encouraging environment, in which my mum has thrived. Throughout Covid, the staff have sacrificed so much personally to keep the residents safe. I am so glad that I found Spiers for Mum - it's difficult putting a family member in a care home, but I honestly couldn't ask for a better place. I have peace of mind knowing she is in Spiers.
I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful team of staff at Spiers Care Home. My mum has received the highest level of care since becoming a resident at the beginning of lockdown last year. Not only is the care exceptional, but the whole ethos within the home in providing such care with genuine kindness, dignity, warmth and compassion is constant. The home is beautifully maintained both inside and out and feels homely, cosy and safe, which is so important to us as a family. Most of all, my mum is very settled and happy there, which is the best feeling for all the family. Thank you so much to everyone that works so hard at Spiers. I feel honoured that Mum gets to call Spiers home. I would also like to say how amazing the care staff have managed the lockdown situation with professionalism and always with the greatest sensitivity to the residents and their families. We have only ever been able to visit Mum at the window, and our observations are the staff adhering to all regulations.
This nursing home is the most amazing caring, well organised and blessed with the most amazing staff. My mum arrived the day before lockdown in March 2020. She has dementia. The care she has been given has been outstanding, especially from the carers. My Dad was also a resident convalescing in Speirs after an illness in January 2021. They helped him gain strength and confidence to return home. If anyone is in any doubt about placing their loved ones here, please, believe me, they will be cared for and loved 100%. Forever grateful to all at Speirs.
I am really pleased with every aspect of the home, the day to day running of it and the staff for all their hard work all through the home. My mother is always clean and well presented and happy in the home.
My mum as been at Spiers for over a year; she as dementia. The staff are amazing, friendly, caring, easy to talk too and at this present time with the difficult times, we are all going through; they still have time to chat to me on the phone reassuring me that they are keeping my mum safe. I don't think I can ever thank them enough for there outstanding work they deliver at Spiers care home.
My wife was admitted to Spiers Care Home early November 2019 straight from hospital after suffering a urine infection and vascular dementia. She had a rather difficult time and became seriously ill. The care and attention at Spiers Care Home at this time, was particularly gratifying at this time to me. The dedication of the carers, nurses, staff and management was extremely important and helped in no small way to assist in her recovery. Their professionalism was second to none.
My mum has been living in Spiers care home since mid-December 2018. I am very impressed with the room she was allocated, it is large enough to feel like a proper living room, not just a small bedroom size. I am happy she is being cared for by genuine people. She has even put on some weight in her short time there, which is fantastic as she tended not to bother eating properly when she lived in her own house. Any incidents are acted on straight away, and I feel she is safe enough considering some of the mental health problems some residents there suffer from. I feel the staff are approachable, and although they are very busy, they do take time to talk about any concerns I may have.
My mum has been resident in Spiers since November 2018. Since she has been there her health and well being has improved dramatically. The staff are excellent, and it is clear they treat the residents like family members. Nothing seems to be any trouble to them. They have brought my mum out of her shell, and she enjoys the company of staff and other residents alike. She loves the food and can't get to the table fast enough for her meals, to the point where she almost throws her visitors out if they don't leave at least thirty minutes before meal times. Her room is very nice and is kept spotless, as are all other areas of the home. The staff go well above and beyond duty to make everyone (including visitors) feel at home. I would like to thank everyone concerned for the care they give Mum, and the peace of mind it brings to the family. I would definitely recommend Spiers to anyone looking for nursing care for a family member.
I can't thank the staff for what they do for my wife and I am very grateful for this.
All the staff are excellent with my aunt and understand she is very difficult and moody at times. They can always talk her round.
My daughter was transferred here in December 2017. She is 53 years old, She had been in another home who didn't take good care of her. Since she came to Spiers she has much improved. She wasn't able to talk before she came here and now she is saying lots of things. All staff are amazing plus the home is so clean and no smell like some other homes. I would highly recommend Spiers.
My husband has been in Spiers Care Home since 04.12.17 and so far I have absolutely no complaints or grievances in his care and wellbeing.
