View Full Details of Barchester Fordmill Care HomeMy wife is unable to walk or stand (advanced MS) so "activities" are not relevant. She is a bit 'fussy' about food and is gluten intolerant. However, the home went to great lengths to provide her with a choice at each meal. This was a 3 week respite care that was mostly paid for by my local council, cannot comment on value for money.
Really happy with the care mum received whilst staying at Fordmill Care Home. The home was immaculate, very welcoming and staff were always extremely helpful. Mum is a very picky eater and follows a gluten free diet. The kitchen staff were always extremely helpful in offering alternative meals to suit mums taste and dietary requirements. Mum had a lovely warm, clean room with her own TV. Mum has said that the staff were brilliant.
Probably the best old folks home I have ever seen, the staff are absolutely lovely, they cannot do enough from my father. And the food is amazing. And the manager of the old folks home is a star. Highly rated. Honestly, cannot pick one bad thing about it. Only one word describes this place, amazing.
The care and support Barchester Fordmill Care Home gave my mum was second to none, she was treated with dignity, care and respect. Her final days ensured she was comfortable and pain-free. The staff also ensured I was looked after as well. The whole home has a fantastic atmosphere with daily activities, ensuring everyone is included and entertained. You couldn't wish for a better care home for your relative.
My aunt was at Barchester Fordmill Care Home for three weeks respite, the care and kindness shown to her was fantastic. The staff are all so welcoming and look so happy. The activities coordinator and her team work so hard to entertain the residents. It's a very well-led team. The manager and administrator made the process so easy and are so efficient and communicative. This is a wonderful home and I could thoroughly recommend it.
The staff at Barchester Fordmill Care Home are very helpful and friendly. Our mother receives excellent care and is very happy!
The care that our mum has received at Barchester Fordmill Care Home has been outstanding! She loves all the varied activities and companionship of the other residents. The care staff are excellent and so friendly. This definitely is a five-star facility!
Mum had plenty of activities and good company during her stay. Staff were very attentive to Mum. Care home was suitable for Mum's needs. She knew some of the residents which made it more enjoyable. Easy for visitors to come and go. I think she enjoyed her food as well.
We had another lovely afternoon at Barchester Fordmill Care Home, celebrating my friend's birthday. The social team, kitchen team and all the staff did her proud. The entertainment on this occasion and generally, was first-class. Birthday cake tasted excellent.
I cannot rate Fordmill highly enough. Mum was cared for with compassion and dignity from day one. The care home is immaculately clean, the staff helpful and friendly and the food tasty and plentiful. The Entertainment Coordinators have a wealth of events and activities to keep the residents busy, there's never a dull day at Fordmill! Ultimately, we had peace of mind. Mum had the highest standard of care and felt loved by everyone around her. Thank you all.
I couldn't be more happy with the staff and facilities at this care home. They allowed my mother to enjoy her time and keep her dignity until she sadly passed away this month. Mum lived at the care home for just over two years. We knew she was safe and well looked after at all times. Excellent.
My grandmother lived to a fruitful 99. In her last couple of years, she stayed at Barchester Fordmill Care Home and the recovery she had since the day she joined was incredible. She was able to share her beautiful smile again after years of hardship and I can't thank the amazing Fordmill staff enough. Thank you for bringing out the best in my granny again. We shall remember my granny forever and always.
I cannot praise staff highly enough. From the time my mother entered Barchester Fordmill Care Home until her death, they were attentive, caring and so good to her. She enjoyed her time there mixing with everyone but still with her own room for privacy when she wanted. I felt safe in my mind that she was getting the care, love and attention she needed.
As a retired home manager, I was very impressed with the quality of care and the dedication of the staff at the home. I was made very welcome. The home was clean and welcoming. Food could rival any hotels around Montrose. Activities offered to the residents were well chosen by a competent activities organiser.
After a fall at home which necessitated a hospital stay and then some time in a rehabilitation unit, my Mum moved into Fordmill six months ago. She was apprehensive and anxious about the move but with the excellent care and support of the lovely manager and other staff, she soon settled in and now feels at home there. Fordmill is set in a large quiet garden and everywhere is spotlessly clean and well maintained, laundry has a super quick turnaround, food is plentiful and varied and visitors are always made to feel welcome. The abundance of entertainment and activities available are imaginative and very well organised by enthusiastic staff who gently encourage residents to join in with no pressure to do so. I feel that my Mum is treated with respect and dignity and well looked after by all the friendly, helpful staff and have no hesitation in recommending Fordmill for respite or long-term care. We are so lucky to have such an excellent nursing home in Montrose.
My husband and I were visiting my mum from the USA. Each time we visit we are always delighted with the care my mum receives. Her individual needs are met but Barchester Fordmill Care Home goes far beyond that. The quality and variety of food is exceptional and is made with pride and obvious care, beginning with the table settings being at a standard to behold the feast that is about to arrive. The daily activities are organised with thoughtful ideas on how best to encourage our family members to use their skills while having fun. When we visited daily there was a lot of activity, laughter and a very family-minded atmosphere between the residents and amazing staff. We were made to feel very welcome and there was always a nice selection of refreshments for us to enjoy. A really superb facility that gives us great peace of mind that our mum has a loving, caring place she calls home. Thank you Fordmill staff, you are a blessing to us all.
This was the first time we had used respite care. Putting it mildly my husband was very apprehensive and very reluctant. I was extremely anxious. From the start, everyone was very reassuring and professional but friendly and helpful. The surroundings were so comfortable and homely, were more like a hotel than a residential home. I left my husband fully confident he would get excellent care. This proved so right. After his week at Fordmill, he came home full of praise for all the staff. Very positive about his experience there, with no negative comments at all and the fact he told the family he would go back says it all!
My mum and dad were in Barchester Fordmill Care Home for respite. They were both treated so well. Management and staff were all so helpful and caring. We couldn't have asked for a better care home. We can't stress enough how well they were looked after. We could go away and know they were in such kind, caring and helpful hands.
My mum moved into the care home in May 2024 following a fall in her flat and a hospital admission. This was a really difficult and stressful time for Mum and all the family. Mum's mental health had not been good in the twenty-plus years following my dad's death and to say she was antisocial would be an understatement. She had isolated herself from her whole community and was leading a pretty miserable existence despite best efforts from those left in her life. We were very apprehensive about how she would cope in a care home. To be honest, if she wasn't in Barchester Fordmill Care Home, I'm not convinced she would have coped. The staff have been amazing right from the top, general manager, nursing and care staff, catering, maintenance, activity team and hairdresser! All have been so patient, kind and consistent in their approach. Mum is now enjoying care home life and taking part in all kinds of activities that I did not dream of. The creativity and kindness of the whole team has been outstanding. Thank you.
My father settled very well at Barchester Fordmill Care Home. I think the 'hotel-like', plush surroundings helped. On one occasion, they seemed to be short-staffed however this was a 'one-off'. He seemed to enjoy the activities and chose to take part. The staff were very kind and helpful and there were plenty of them. The fact that it's a 'nursing' home, not a 'care' home, gave us peace of mind. I would definitely recommend.
