View Full Details of The Glens Care HomeMy husband and I have had the most wonderful afternoon while visiting a friend with dementia. There was a gentleman there who played a keyboard and sang songs that the residents recognised and sang along to. The staff are just so brilliant had them all clapping and waving their arms then some of the more able were up dancing. The staff are so much fun and very affectionate to each of them. Each time we visit we are given a cup of tea and biscuits. I have to say we were very impressed at how well each resident was dressed and hair done nicely. I would not hesitate to give the care home a first class review.
My Mum has been here almost a year now. She settled in straight away and the staff are amazing. They are all very friendly and always have a smile for everyone and make me feel very welcome when I visit. I get regular updates on my mum's health and they inform me straight away if there's been a health problem with Mum and I can phone and talk to staff or my Mum at any time. Mum enjoys the food and regular outings in her wheelchair. There's a garden to sit out in when the weather's nice and lots of indoor activities on a regular basis. The rooms are lovely and the other residents all seem happy and content. I have visited a lot of care homes over the years and this has to be the best one by far.
Went to visit a good friend today who had not been too well since last Sunday, I called in the morning for an update as to whether she was able for visitors which she was. This was my 3rd visit to this facility and yet again I'm bowled over with the staff and facilities at this care home. The friendliness of the staff is wonderful and very reassuring for people with family residing there, their interaction with the clients is second to none. This is a place I would happily want to live if and when it may become necessary.
My mother-in-law has now been a resident in The Glens for 8 weeks, we have found the care to be very good. She is looking so well since being there. The Glens is clean and homely and the staff are all visible, friendly and welcoming. Such a relief for us to know she is happy and settled at The Glens, she has nothing but praise for all the staff and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. 5-star treatment.
I visited my mum today and as it was Valentine's Day, the staff had decorated the lounge. There was a young girl doing a chocolate-tasting game with the residents, each resident was blindfolded then given different types of chocolate to taste. It was good fun and brilliant interaction with the residents. My mum has only been at Balhousie The Glens Care Home for two weeks and she is now socialising and has friends.
I had my first visit to ‘The Glens’ Care Home last week when I was visiting a friend. I was immediately impressed with the building and then by the welcoming staff. The staff were so very attentive to my friend and came in & offered us both cups of tea with our favourite biscuits. My friend is being looked after beautifully. I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking.
After a period of what has felt like a revolving door of managers, which was to the detriment of the home, I feel like the home is now returning to the welcoming, homely, clean and well run facility that it was when my mum first went in 7 years ago. I agree with a previous reviewer (that during covid when all things homely and moveable were removed from the home), several of Mum's items have disappeared. I suspect put away for safekeeping, but with said changing managers the whereabouts are a mystery. The staff seem to genuinely care for the residents, and again after the period of uncertainty, the staff seem so much more settled and happy, plus there has also been a period of recruitment which has made a huge difference.
I have seen great changes to the home in the last 3/4 months with the new manager. The staff were always welcoming when I visited and would keep me updated with any issues regarding my mum. The care provided to my mum was fantastic right up until the end when all staff made sure she was comfortable. I would like to say thank you to all staff in the home. Keep up the fantastic work you all do.
The care home seems now to be improving after a long period of uncertainty. Although personal items of my godparent have been lost? With no explanation given.
After a particularly challenging year, I am very encouraged to see the manager has already begun to implement positive changes. I appreciate these changes will take will time but with continued support from the senior company management, manager, staff and relatives I am optimistic that the home can regain the good reputation it previously enjoyed in the community. A new entry system at the main front door that can enable visitors faster access and monitor who is in the building at any given time would be beneficial for visitors and staff. Communication has vastly improved. I would like to acknowledge the dedication and hard work that many of the staff have shown under recent difficult circumstances.
The manager and staff work very hard, sometimes in difficult situations to make the residents feel loved and respected. For which I can only say thank you.
The last twelve months have been a difficult time for the staff, residents and families. With the sheer determination and caring staff, I feel lucky to have my husband in Balhousie The Glens. We don't see the amount of work going on behind the scenes but I see it in the home itself. My husband is very happy, well cared for, cosy and safe, all thanks to the team at The Glens. Many positive changes are now in place and the inclusion of relatives in meetings and planning care is great. I am always encouraged by staff to participate in my husband's care and for me, this means so much as it's hard giving up that caring role. No care home is perfect for a variety of reasons but right now, The Glens are pretty close. This is my personal opinion, keep up the fantastic work. I feel so well supported and I see the love and care my husband recieves which gives me great peace of mind.
I have been very pleased to receive the weekly newsletter so I have been able to at least see my mother on line in the photos of activities which are kindly provided. My thanks to the dedicated staff who I hope are keeping well themselves. Thank you all.
Myself and family find the home welcoming and the staff friendly. We did experience a few teething problems in the beginning but these were dealt with swiftly.
