View Full Details of Barchester South Grange Care HomeWe have been very happy with the care that my dad has been receiving since he moved into Barchester South Grange Care Home three months ago, the staff are very attentive and spend quality time with the residents individually as well as in small groups. Nothing is too much trouble and they go the extra mile for the residents and families. They provide such a variety of activities too. My dad feels safe there.
My mother has been a resident for approx 3 months. She was made to feel so welcome as were we, her family. We brought personal items which were put into her room, pictures, a clock, bedding, and things in her toilet from her flat, everything was done for my mum moving in. The staff are wonderful. A few weeks after moving in there was singing and dancing in the round room. One member of staff in particular, who my mum has got a soft spot for, had her up dancing with him. My mum's mobility has not been good of late, falling if she tries to get up herself. I had a tear in my eye while watching them dance. The meals are great, and Mum's appetite is back. What I love about South Grange is, that from the minute you set foot through the front door, it is like walking into a hotel lobby. it is so welcoming and homely. For me, it is how well my mum is cared for and she is happy. That for me is all I ask for, for her to be settled and happy.
My brother and I managed to secure a short-stay respite care placement for our 90-year-old mum in Barchester South Grange Care Home after a week's stay in hospital, when we realised she needed 24-hour nursing care until she was well enough to return home. We extended this, as she was being so well-cared for, and decided that we couldn't provide the medical care she needed, so the only option was to give her the best chance in life by affording her continued care to meet her needs indefinitely. Initially, Mum didn't relish the idea but with encouragement from the wonderful staff from all departments, soon began to enjoy the company and some of the activities on offer. I can't speak highly enough of the management, nurses, carers and all staff who reacted quickly and efficiently re. any issues for our precious mum. Although quite a shy, quiet lady, she enjoyed the banter and close friendships with all staff. Their loving care and kindness for our mum and the family was exceptional. Thank you so much.
I came along to visit my mum today and we went through to join in with the conga line which the activity ladies had organised. What a truly wonderful afternoon, such fun doing the conga through the home, out into the garden, then back to the round room for great music with singing and dancing. I just want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful care staff and most especially, the fantastic activity ladies who always go above and beyond to ensure everyone has fun. Mum has been in Barchester South Grange Care Home for eighteen months and after initially taking some time to settle in, now participates in most of the many varied activities.
We moved my mum into the Barchester South Grange Care Home only twelve weeks ago. All staff, from the beginning of her stay, were mannerable and courteous at all times. Initially, Mum would not participate in activities but then after a lot of perseverance by the staff, she attended these on a daily basis. The staff continually kept me up to date with anything that related to Mum and when they were asked to do anything they couldn't have been more accommodating. Sadly, Mum passed away after the short stay but I can say that her time in the care home, after being housebound for two years, allowed a great and welcome change to her mood and allowed her the ability to involve herself with others and be outside which she loved. Since her passing, the staff have shown tremendous understanding and empathy. I would not hesitate to recommend South Grange Care Home.
I just want to say a huge thank all the staff at Seven Archie's for taking care of my husband in a person-centred way. Recently, I came in and found two members of staff watching our wedding video online with him, this is what I call care. He seemed so settled and happy. The staff were in tears but that just showed how empathetic they are, it's not all about physical care but respecting the service user's image and personality prior to their current situation. My husband has been here for now nearly 4 years and I won't think of changing his care. This is the best team and they take time with their service users. To you all at South Grange Care Home, have a happy new year when it comes and thank you for caring for my husband without judging or limitations.
My worst experience of “care” ever. There were issues from day one. Lack of and miscommunication between and with staff. Lack of dignity for my mum. She went for up to 9 days without a bath or shower. On occasion her nails were dirty, her clothes stained and creased and hair a mess. She lost her ability to stand unaided and can no longer walk. Staff thought it would be quicker to put her in a wheelchair rather than take the time she needed to get up and walk. There was not enough room in her toilet so used a commode in her room. Money went missing from her purse. Staff lied to our face. A complaint was made to the care commission. All 10 points/complaints were upheld but still, there were issues. The last straw was when mum waited over 40 minutes for the toilet. She buzzed, four staff came in and switched it off and left. I heard “You will have to wait, there are more than you here”. I heard this as was on the phone to my mum. She was crying and wet herself. She said she wanted to die. Disgusting!
My mother has been in South Grange Nursing Home until she passed away peacefully a few days ago. The care love and attention that she has been given since entering the home in 2016 till a few days ago was exceptional by all of the staff. The length of time she was residing here certainly showed how much she was loved and cared for. I also have to say that my sister and I were with Mum 24/7 from 8th November until the night she passed away and we were comforted and cosseted by the staff providing meals and cups of tea, they explained every step of the way the end of care Mum would receive. I cannot recommend enough this Nursing Home. The staff are exceptional and very hard working ensuring a peaceful end to her life.
The care that my husband is receiving at South Grange is outstanding. The staff understand my husband's needs and always treat him with kindness, respect and encouragement. His nurses are highly competent and I have total confidence in the nursing and medical care they are providing. There is a happy atmosphere in the home and all staff- nurses, carers, activity coordinators, domestic, kitchen and maintenance staff are genuinely welcoming and friendly.
I am very impressed with the frequency and variety of social activities available at the home. The entire staff excel when it comes to encouraging the residents to participate and have fun. My family member specifically enjoys the music and games indoors as well as getting outside in the garden.
My mother has been a resident at South Grange for one year. I chose this care home for her as she prefers modern facilities, however, she does refer to it as a 'hotel' due to the design of the building and the rooms, which are satisfactory and comfortable, but not very homely. Despite this, my mother is well cared for by very competent staff, who are attentive, empathetic and friendly. They keep me updated with any incidents which occur and inform me of any new prescribed care and are happy to listen and act on any concerns I raise. We work together to solve any issues which may arise. In my view the daily activities are a priority, to maintain physical and mental wellbeing. South Grange has an excellent caring team, who treat their residents with respect and care for them as individuals, encouraging participation in their daily activity programme.
My wife has spent respite breaks in many local care homes. When she required full time care I contacted South Grange and my reception was the most friendly, receptive and professional. When she took up residence she felt she was in a very caring atmosphere. My regular visits were greeted with friendly and professional staff, reassuring me that she was in the best possible environment for her welfare.
I can’t thank every staff member at South Grange Care Home enough for their kindness and support when we tragically lost my nana. My uncle is a resident at South Grange Care home, and the staff kindly took him to my nana's funeral and allowed us as a family to spend time supporting him at the care home after the funeral. The staff went out of their way to support us. My uncle was able to feel included as part of the family, and we can’t thank you all enough for enabling this.
My husband and I have been overwhelmed by the care, compassion and support shown, not only to my mother-in-law but to us at this difficult time. My mother-in-law is in the late stages of bowel cancer, and her care has been amazing. We are kept updated with everything and always made to feel so welcome. This team are doing an exceptional job!
My mother moved into South Grange 5-years ago. She continues to flourish with the high standard of care she receives and has a good rapport with everyone involved in supporting her day-to-day. I visit regularly and find both managers and staff to be most approachable, helpful and friendly.
My mother has lived in South Grange and is now 101, thanks to the care and kindness shown to her. Resident for 18-months. The staff are friendly and informative in all aspects regarding my mother. She is always well presented, clean and appropriately dressed. Her room is always neat and tidy. I am beyond grateful for the care she receives.
I have always found the staff who look after my mother to be very professional, courteous and very caring in the way they look after her. During the pandemic, the Activities Co-Ordinator is our main contact when setting up FaceTime calls with Mum and nothing is too much trouble for her even to the extent of setting up FaceTime calls with other staff whilst she is off on rest days.
Our mother has been in South Grange for three years and very quickly told us that she regards it as her home. Mum is looked after by staff who obviously really do care for her and she regards many as her friends. Mum very much enjoys the activities each day, especially the bowling which she can't get enough of! During the pandemic there have been as many opportunities as possible to see mum, either by physical visit, when allowed, or by video call. We would recommend South Grange to anyone looking for a place for their loved one to call their new home.
My Mum was always very well looked after and it meant I did not have to worry about her which was a tremendous relief. She was always treated with care and dignity, especially around the time of her passing. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff.
Our mother entered the care home when she was no longer able to cope at home, due to her frailty. The care and environment has been a of a high standard and their high level of professionalism shines through in every interaction with residents, families and others. We would definitely recommend South Grange Care Home.
