We are pleased with Mum's overall care from day to day she is well looked after her needs are all met, as a wheelchair user she needs support with everything including feeding, dressing and washing she never complains and loves her food. They are kept busy with activities and also exercise if they feel like it, there is also a cinema room and library. Mum is now 94 years old and likes a lie down in the afternoon the staff are used to her habits and are always on hand to assist. If there is a problem the manager is always available, all the staff are friendly and caring, and they all work as a team to make the lives of the residents worthwhile.
My mum has been a resident at St Columba's care home for over 6 years and resides on floor 1. All the staff are very attentive, very friendly towards her and know her little quirks. The family is kept up to date with all information by the staff which is very helpful to us. It is a pity that the residents are having to stay in their rooms at present due to the ongoing work replacing the kitchen and decorating the lounge but this is not the staff's fault and they are coping well with the situation. Overall the staff are doing a very job looking after the residents and seeing to their needs.
My aunt has been in St Columba's for nearly 5 years. The care she receives there has been excellent. When my aunt first went into the home, she was unable to look after herself and had been transferred there from hospital. She only weighed 5 stone, was really confused and we were told she was double incontinent. She is now healthy, happy, has gained 4 stone and is actually not incontinent. The staff are brilliant with my aunt. She is well looked after from every member of the St Columba's team. Putting a family member into a care home is the hardest decision for anyone, but I believe if we hadn't done this for our aunt, she wouldn't be here today.
I am very happy with the care that my mum receives from all staff. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They clearly get to know their residents well and are aware of their likes and dislikes. Social activities/outings are varied and relatives and residents are regularly asked if there’s anything in particular they are interested in.
I am very happy with the care my relative receives. She is clean, warm, well fed and treated with dignity and respect. Her wishes are taken into account where appropriate. Laundry is done daily. There are plenty of activities to keep her engaged, and relatives are welcome to join in activities. All staff are always welcoming, friendly, caring and attentive. She is as settled and happy as she can be, given her condition. Her room is clean, comfortable, warm and recently redecorated, although we are still waiting for work to be done to upgrade her bathroom. There are regular communications from the home, and staff will contact us directly if they have any concerns. The manager is approachable and deals promptly with any matter we have raised. There are quarterly relatives' meetings and any matter raised is addressed.
My mum continues to get excellent care and support from the dedicated staff. Communication regarding Mum's progress is effective. Any concerns regarding Mum's health are dealt with quickly. All staff are very friendly and helpful, from the nurses, administrator and the lady who does the washing - a true team effort. Thank you.
Excellent care as always - looking after my mum since February last year. Keep her happy and lots of activities. The staff have good humour. Well-fed and kept clean. Clean environment. A safe place for all. Would recommend it to all.
Excellent, happy with all care and everyone is very approachable and very helpful. Members of staff will help with any problem regarding my mother. Staff skills are very good. Management is excellent. Everyone is helpful.
Staff friendly and professional. Quick to resolve any problems that arise. The standard of cleanliness is excellent. The meals and snacks provided are first class. The activities and entertainment provided are very good and varied.
Very friendly staff, multiple activities throughout the week and a very warm and friendly environment. Well-managed care, with one-to-one nursing care and additional care staff on every level to ensure all our parent's needs are being met. When visiting, the care staff are always visible and cheery; even the cleaning staff seem happy about their work. When leaving after visiting, there are no lingering worries and peace of mind that they are being well looked after and cared for.
Very good care staff. My father always seems to be clean, and he really likes the food. He doesn't like other residents coming into his room uninvited, but, not sure how this can be prevented. He has had a couple of items go missing, which really upsets him.
The care my mother receives is generally very good. However, it is rather unfortunate the high turnover of staff, and whilst training is given it can take some time for care staff to get used to the residents and the working of the home. The meals supplied seem to be of good quality, but some elements could possibly be improved upon. I understand the need for simplicity in the kitchen when catering for so many people, but sometimes this can lead to a lack of quality in certain respects.
