View Full Details of Hawthorn House Care HomeDue to my mother only being at Hawthorn House for 7 days before her passing. It was not really enough time to get to know the staff and other residents. During my late mother's time at Hawthorn House, the staff were very professional, caring and extremely considerate of my mother's medical needs and also towards myself and other family members.
Mum was treated with respect, compassion and dignity during her stay in respite care at Hawthorn House. Mum reported privately to me that 'they are very good to me'. The room was clean and at a good, constant temperature for Mum. The nurses reacted quickly to any health concerns arising and always kept me informed, which I appreciated. I would recommend Hawthorn House to anyone.
I am next of kin and I have found this home quite good. I find the staff very nice and pleasant to deal with they are all very obliging.
Never having had experience of care homes I feel there is a nice atmosphere in the home. The staff are very helpful and friendly. It's clean and tidy and I feel welcomed when I visit. I try to visit twice a week with my sister. Sometimes I visit on a Sunday and at times, I find it hard to find a member of staff when my sister needs to use the bathroom but recognise that they are probably dealing with other residents and also there are not as many staff on at weekends. All in all my sister is well cared for and has settled in well.
Excellent home with charming and efficient staff. Nursing and nursing care staff are of a very high standard. Staff including management have made me feel very welcome from day one.
Staff all very good and helpful. Saturday and Sunday, not enough staff at times. Mum is very happy here. A few problems with caring for her feet and a few things were missed. Nurses took on board my concerns. Staff all very good but I find I never see the same person from day to day.
My husband was a resident in Hawthorn House Care Home from July-October 2022. He was excellently cared for by all the staff. I was a resident for 3 weeks respite after having my hip replaced in January 2023. All aspects of my care were excellent.
When my aunt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s she remained at Hawthorn where they assured me they could manage her condition. But instead of recommending a home where they would have had the experience of her condition, she stayed there until her death. It was too late to move her. Hawthorn House Care Home isn’t suitable for any type of Alzheimer’s or dementia patients. I felt the manager's communication poor and staff found my aunt hard to care for and unable to cope with her anxiety and confusion. Also, I was surprised they had an inexperienced person liaising with family members. This person had a strong personality and we found her very intimidating. However, on the positive side, Hawthorn is a modern facility and is suitable for mobile seniors who would enjoy interacting with other people.
Would not recommend for anyone with dementia/ Alzheimer’s as very little knowledge of these conditions are apparent with all the staff within the home. No knowledge of palliative care or recognition of the end of life.
Staff - kind and caring. Always smiled and took time to speak to residents and welcome visitors. A well kept, clean home with nice rooms. The food seems good with good choices.
My mother originally came in for respite after a fall. She had always been fiercely against going into a home, or any sort of sheltered accommodation. She had been living alone with a care package until the fall. I had to move her into a care home so she could get properly looked after. What a difference this place has made to both our lives. She has settled in fantastically well, becoming loved by the carers. I can rest at ease knowing she is getting the best care possible. Really can't rate this place highly enough. Six stars.
We, as a family, are satisfied with the care my mother receives.
My friend of 97 was admitted after a short spell in hospital when diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer. I visited many care homes in my search for a home from home for her and was impressed with the reception and information I got from the staff, even though I arrived, unannounced. The care she got during her stay was great. I was advised of every change in her health, eating and medicines. The staff always treated her with respect, right to her passing away. Any time I asked for advice, from form filling to clearing her room, I was dealt with in a lovely manner... nothing was too much. I can only go by our own experience but I really had no complaints. People have to remember that staff are responsible for numerous people in their care, not always available to leave another resident straight away but our relatives/friends dignity is always foremost.
My mother has been a resident in Hawthorn House from November 2015, during this time we have found that it is a well-run care home in all its aspects, great staff and management. My mother who will be 91 is very happy there and if she is happy so are we.
My mother has been a resident Hawthorn House for over two years and has been well cared for throughout this period. Her bedroom is always cleaned tidy with her clothes neatly laundered. The staff who look after her daily needs are excellent. The home is properly and professionally managed and due to the food care received from the staff my mother's health has improved remarkably and now stabilised. She enjoys the companionship of other residents always takes part in all the activities provided by the care home and the food provided at all meal times.
I have found the staff in the care home most kind and helpful. My sister settled down and felt at home within a few months of moving in. She is comfortable, well cared for and enjoys the food and activities.
Our brother has been in care since June 2009. Over the past few years, his health has declined due to his Parkinson's disease and more recently needing more care and time spent with helping him with his personal hygiene and feeding. We cannot speak highly enough of the medical staff, catering staff and the care manager.
