View Full Details of Mountvale Private Nursing HomeWhen we were told my mother would require palliative care, it was life-changing. Search criteria for a suitable nursing home can be comprehensive, however, first-hand experience has now shown how irrelevant much of this can be. The key consideration has to be the staff; a professional, caring and communicative approach is mandatory and this is where Mountvale excels. From our initial contact to having Mum move to her new home, our treatment was exemplary. The staff at Mountvale are its number one asset. There is a real sense of a caring family approach in all they do. After a short spell in hospital, Mum expressed her wish 'to go home'. We assumed she was referring to her previous family residence, however, she was talking of her new home in Dromore. This substantiated our decision to choose Mountvale.
My mum had to go for respite between discharge from hospital and home. My dad was at home and totally reliant on my mum and carers to get through each day, we made the decision for him to go for respite. The social worker spoke to the manager at Mountvale and arranged for Mum and Dad to be in rooms beside each other (no double rooms). I rang the manager myself to talk through things. She was so accommodating nothing was any bother to make sure they were together. The staff were like family. As soon as you walked through the doors all the staff greeted you as if you lived there. I was able to bring our dogs in to visit. The kitchen staff even give them ham which was meant for the resident cat. Every day I visited I felt so assured of Mum and Dad's comfort and care it was a weight off my mind. All staff took time to chat with them. I got stories every day of who was who amongst the staff. One big happy family. Highly recommend Mountvale.
