View Full Details of Castle View Care HomeMy dad has been a resident at Castle View Nursing Home since 2023. Mum visits regularly, but unfortunately, my sister and I are living in England, so our visits are periodic. Castle View has given my dad and mum love, care, smiles, plenty of laughter, and a 'new extended family' that I also get the privilege to be a part of. Thank you to all the staff at Castle View Peel for the time they put into both the patient and the families. It is very much appreciated!
I have found the care and attention my husband has received has been excellent. The staff are incredibly kind and efficient. Professionalism and understanding of his needs are faultless. The whole team from the carers to domestic, kitchen and laundry, amazing. Nothing is too much trouble, the helpfulness at reception to the busy handymen and gardener/painter ensures I go home knowing my husband is in good hands.
Resident very happy. Always laughing with staff and very comfortable in environment. Staff always ensure he has enough to eat and drink and engage him in activities regularly. Resident had a birthday party this month and a beautiful afternoon tea was made, a private room for family and young children thought of with games being provided. All had a lovely time. Thank you Castle View.
My mother has been a resident at Castle View Nursing Home for the last 3 months. The staff are kind and attentive. The home is clean, well-maintained, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There are plenty of activities to keep residents engaged, and communication with family members is excellent. I would recommend Castle View Nursing Home.
The staff makes Castle View feel like a home. They always have a hug and a kind word for the residents and family members. Nothing is too much trouble. The facility is spotlessly clean and the amenities and activities are wonderful. Again, it's the staff involved with enriching the resident's lives that makes Castle View such a special place. Thank you!
Two years as a resident, my husband is looked after so well, the staff are amazing, caring, entertaining and full of empathy. Every day is a challenge for them all and they do their absolute best, often against all odds. Dementia is the most dreadful disease but they understand the needs of both residents and families, allowing families to live their lives knowing their loved ones are cared for well. Still feel staff need more support in so far as if they are ill themselves (bigger issues) they should be paid - loyalty deserves support.
I feel my husband is being cared for very well, his needs being accommodated. The staff are all friendly and helpful and offer support to me as well as my husband.
My mother is very well cared for and appreciated, her needs are met plus her wants. She feels at home here and I feel welcomed and cared for every time I visit. The staff are professional yet friendly and more like family. I feel reassured, when I am not on the island, that mum is in the best place and cared for in a loving appropriate way. Thank you.
My dad only arrived at Castle View last week, but since he arrive we can not praise the care he has been given enough. All of the staff are so friendly and the way they engage with dad is lovely to see, they have fun with him too which I know he likes. This was a very hard decision for us as we did all we could to keep dad in his own home. Dad deserves the best care possible and we know he will get that here. They have made us feel so welcome too, which helps in such a difficult time.
The review was carried out in an unhurried manner. This type of resident is in a vulnerable position and it is good to think that there is great consideration given to their welfare. It gave a good opportunity to raise any concerns which may exist, which one can only hope will be acted upon.
My mother is treated with respect, friendliness and kindness. All her needs are taken care of quickly. The staff are a joy and have her laughing everyday. From nurses to cleaners, everyone worked so hard, especially the carers, but always with a smile. The whole of Castle View Nursing Home is spotlessly clean. The daily selection of food is very varied and they go out of their way to accommodate mum's whims when possible. I can not praise all at Castle View enough.
The staff at Castle View Nursing Home are doing their best to care for my partner who is in an advanced stage of dementia. It is a difficult task at the best of times but in general the care is as good as it could ever be, apart from one to one/ 24 hours/7 days per week, which is not entirely an option.
Mum has been resident for over 2 years now and is very settled. The staff are very attentive and caring towards mum and other residents. Always giving a friendly wave and say hello when passing. Staff are always available to answer queries or sort any problems.
Castle View is a good care home. The structure is pleasant. Manager personable and friendly, nursing staff professional, carers carry out assigned duties. However, on more than one occasion, points I have raised have not been satisfactorily addressed: 1. Catering service could be improved by privileging quality over quantity and serving food at the desired temperature. 2. Response time to the call bell is often unacceptably lengthy, forcing resident to resort to other means of attracting attention. 3. Handling of laundry needs improvement: too often named and numbered items are mislaid. Also, with a few exceptions carers are less personable than they could be, considering they are caring for elderly, fragile individuals needing reassurance and kindness. Recently my relative has been unwell but has not received the extra attention and sympathy one should expect. Communication with staff especially on weekends is difficult. The two staff mobile phones on my relative's floor are often switched off.
A lovely visit showing how excellently my friend is being looked after. From an initial phone call to the swift welcome, and then the time with my friend. The team was efficient, unobtrusive, helpful, and always incredibly kind. We were offered refreshments and help at every stage. My friend is loving the home! Great job - well done!
Castle View is like a five-star hotel. The staff are kind and attentive. The food is delicious. The room is ver comfortable and has a lovely view over the hills. My room is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are always cheerful and nothing is too much trouble for them. All in all, I am extremely happy here.
My husband was in Castle View for three weeks whilst I attended a family wedding. He did not altogether enjoy the experience. The savory food he felt was not of a good standard- he is not a big eater but he complained that meat portions were extremely small. I told the manageress- she contacted the person in charge of the kitchen who replied to me that they would see to the problem. However, when I got my husband home he said the portions did not improve! The other problem was buzzers going off constantly in the corridor- very stressful for the residents. I understand why they have them in the rooms but when one resident is constantly using the buzzer surely it should be isolated and the nurses make a point of checking that person on a regular basis.
Mom has lived in Castle View Care Home for over 1 year now and both she and all the family are extremely satisfied with the level of care. All the staff are professional, easygoing, friendly, and go the extra mile. It made Moms stay feel like home. They will always say hello and stop by for a chat. Thank you for everything you do - it is very reassuring for us to know Mom is so well cared for.
I have been a resident here for 3 1/2 years and my wife 4 years. During this time, we have had 3 managers, sometimes standards have ranged from poor to exceptional, but on the whole satisfactory. The nurses, carers and supporting staff on the whole are very caring, with our manager showing the way and with many staff going out of their way to be helpful, in spite of being occasionally short-staffed. Noise from televisions and doors slamming are constant, problems as sound insulation seems non-existent. But overall, I would at present recommend the nursing home.
My father continues to be very happy at Castle View Nursing Home. He is a very quiet and shy man who doesn't like to take part in group activities but I and the activities organiser try to encourage him. I hope they have success as it concerns me sometimes that he is isolated. Regardless, he enjoys his chats with staff and it is a blessing that he really likes all the staff. They are incredibly friendly and caring.
